Let's do the "What book are you reading?" thread again!

I just finished "The Gospel of Judas" and I started one in Spanish, "Amor en Tiempos de Colera".

This is really good, my favorite of her novels that I've read. Thought provoking and rough emotionally but worth it.

Agreed. I've read most of her books, and My Sister's Keeper is by far my favorite.

I've now moved on to Measure of a Man. Up on deck; Reading Lolita in Tehran and Mists of Avalon since everyone raves about that book.

Just finished 1776 by David McCullough...

Going for a light read with one of my favorites, The Witching Hour by Anne Rice. :surfweb:

I'm now reading True Evil by Greg Iles. It's pretty good so far!

OK, instead of starting Mists of Avalon like I was supposed to, I started Water for Elephants last night.

I could not put it down. I've read lots of books in the last few months. This was the best one I've read in a long time.

Currently reading Cat and Mouse by James Patterson. I think I have read this before but not sure. I guess I'll know by the time I've finished.

Well, I was going to start a Patterson book, but instead I started re-reading THE SWORD OF SHANNARA by Terry Brooks.

Ok, all you Phillipa Gregory fans. I'm slated to start The Other Boleyn Girl soon, and I'm just wondering if her books are a series. If so, what is the order of the books? I'm just wondering. Thanks for your help.

"The Other Boleyn Girl" is the first of the series. Then "The Queen's Fool," "The Virgin's Lover," "The Constant Princess" and "The Boleyn Inheritance."

I finished the Debbie Macomber ("6 Ranier Drive") and it was blah. She spends way too much time recapping what had previously happened in the series and re-introduces a character on page 22...in a way that makes it very obvious wo is responsible for the events that end the fifth book. Way to keep us in suspense. :sad2:

I'm starting "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" now - very excited about that one.

Thanks! I've got the books in proper order on my "to read" list, now. Can't wait!

A Woman After God's Own Heart by Elizabeth George.

I agree with everyone who loved "Water for Elephants" -- what a great book!

I am currently reading "The Da Vinci Code". My DH made me read his previous book first (Angels and Demons), since it has the same characters and takes place a year before the da vinci one. Very interesting stuff.

I am on the waiting list at the library for the new Carl Hiaasen book. :)

I just adore reading, but I don't have as much free time to do it as I would like...however, I take what I can get and I don't throw a fit!!!
Recently read:

Marie Antoinette: The Journey - Antiona Fraser
Mary Queen of Scots and the Murder of Lord Darnley - Alison Weir
- very good historical biographies. Weir is a great writer!

I had jury duty on Monday and I read "Lucky" by Alice Sebold. I simply loved "The Lovely Bones" so I had to try this one. It was pretty good. A little tough to read at times, but still pretty good.

I also recently finished "Saving Fish From Drowning" by Amy Tan. I'm a big Tan fan (!), but this was not one of my favourites. I just couldn't seem to really get into it.

Right now I'm reading "The Memory Keeper's Daughter" by Kim Edwards. I see that one has been mentioned already. I'm not too impressed. I think it could be a good story, but the writing style is a little too trite for me....seems like it was composed using a template. Just my opinion.

On my list to read:

Snow Flower and the Secret Fan - Lisa See
On Gold Mountain - Lisa See
A Girl Named Zippy - Haven Kimmel
She Got Up Off the Couch - Haven Kimmel

among others!

I am currently reading The Lake House by James Patterson, and it is a nice fast read. My friend sent me First Light by Bodie and Brock Thoene but I just can't get into it. I had to stop, it was torture. I promised her I would read it, but not right now. Prior to that I read the Secret Life of Bees which I loved. On tap to read are the 4th Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, The Mermaid Chair, and some fun book by Meg Cabot.

For those who were interested in Vampire books, I recommend the Circle Trilogy by Nora Roberts. She was definitely influenced by Buffy.
