So are you wondering why nobody wants to trade for your California state pin?

Just for fun, I figured a "hard-to-get" factor for each state pin based on the number of people wanting a pin divided by the number of people wanting to trade the same pin (from PinPics.com). The higher the number the harder to get...

So here is the ranking:

off scale Alaska (no traders)
off scale Montana (no traders)
off scale Idaho (no traders)
75 Puerto Rico
74 Rhode Island
73 Arkansas
72 West Virginia
70 South Dakota
36 New Mexico
26 Hawaii
21 Mississippi
20 Kansas
20 Nebraska
19 Delaware
17 Colorado
14 Utah
13 Oklahoma
12 Maine
12 South Carolina
12 Oregon
11 Arizona
10 Alabama
10 Iowa
9 Missouri
8 Kentucky
6 Tennessee
6 Washington
6 North Carolina
6 Wisconsin
6 Nevada
6 New Hampshire
5 Louisiana
5 Connecticut
5 Indiana
5 Maryland
4 Minnesota
4 Georgia
3 Michigan
2 Texas
2 Ohio
2 Illinois
2 Virginia
2 Massachusetts
1.43 Florida
1.27 Pennsylvania
1.06 New York
0.96 New Jersey
0.38 California

Yea, when the number is less that "1", there are more traders than people wanting a given pin!

Now, this isn't quite scientific, since most of the people wanting a pin only need one pin... and some of the traders may have dozens of that pin still in their stash... but its fun to look at the numbers!

Let us know what you think!

Heh. Those numbers are kinda neat. :) Thanks for the info.

Cool numbers... Thank you for the info.

Thanks a bunch. What a good way of telling me what I'm NOT going to get by trading.

Thanks for the info
cool to look at the numbers

Ooooohhhh.....I love this kind of analysis.

Elimiate the emotion, stick to the facts. . .

It makes the Holy Grail seem even more ....holy!

BTW, Does anyone have all 54 pins?

Ok, so let me get this straight...CA state pins are worth 0.38 or 38% of a person, basically an arm and a leg. Now they are worth 0.13 or 13% is that an arm or a leg??

For you Engr-Chas.... a lock of flaming blue hair, not even an arm or leg.

I really thought this thread would generate more discussion. Has everyone given up on getting a complete set of State flags?
I'm still looking for 12 to get a complete set.

and it will only cost you your soul (wicked LOL)

Engr-Chas

Very interesting. Thanks for starting this thread and updating it!

Just for fun, I looked up the recent post on the DVC board with the top ten states for DVC members. The similarities and differences are striking:

1) New York, 2) New Jersey, 3) Florida, 4) Pennsylvania, 5) Illinois, 6) Massachusetts, 7) Michigan, 8) Ohio, 9) Connecticut, 10) California.
