Let the (Soaken Wet) Memories Begin TR- Update 12/8

A Key Lime martini sounds delicious! Yum.

So glad you liked Cape May, I have only been for breakfast but have wanted to try for dinner but coming from New England I always worry that the seafood won't be as good as we can get up here.

SAB always seems ridiculously crowded to me and it never seems appealing. Maybe one day. Sorry things started out so rough.

We aren't seafood people so we'll probably never eat at Cape May unless we are with others that do. How were the alternatives? What did Ash end up eating?

I don't know how you are all functioning still with being up since 4am or like you, earlier than that!

Great updates! Love the pics of you and Aisling! Just gorgeous!! Can't wait to hear more!:goodvibes

Thank you! The not-so-gorgeous ones have been deleted. Randy has a LOT of trouble with my camera (even on auto!)

I hate rain right now so I feel for you reading your TR!

So glad you loved Camp May! We ate there for the first time in May 2010 and it is now a must-do every trip for DH! You combine buffet with seafood and add on yummy desserts and he is in heaven!

Not liking that late ADR's were a trend for your trip. :sad2:

We will definitely put that on the must-do list for the future.

Sorry you guys are being rained out. Have you heard about school for tomorrow yet??

I don't think you'll be disappointed...and you know I take my seafood seriously living in Mass and summering as a kid in Maine.

So sorry about all the rain! your daughters clothes are beautiful!

:welcome: and thank you!!

Aisling had the typical Mac and Cheese and fruit that she normally has. But there was also steak that her and Randy both had...they said it was good.

Yes, at this point in my story, I had not been to bed since I got up Thursday morning for work other than a catnap on the plane. And you saw how rough I looked at noon LOL!

No school again today - UGH! flooding here is really bad but our house is high and dry.

Of course we went to EMHs at the MK...my kid doesn't care about such trivial thngs as SLEEP :rotfl2: As were were heading out of Cape May, the skies were getting pretty black. But my experience with Orlando storms made me think that the rain was already over...and my trusty WeatherBug was saying that the storms were over. So off we went. Never trust me or the Weatherbug :rotfl:

So we went out for our very first bus ride and as if by magic, a MK bus immediately was pulling up as were were crossing the little bridge. So us and about 3 other families hopped on. We pulled out of the BC property and the heavens opened. This storm was so bad that the bus was shaking from the thunder/lightening. Now, I drive 2000 plus miles a month for work and I would have pulled over my own car. There was NOOOO way this bus driver was seeing 2 feet in front of him. The ride was very scary. To take our mind off of the storm, we put on our ponchos like the prepared folks we are (noticing that none of the other families on the bus had ponchos) :scared1:

Remember that pic from the beginning of my TR? Ya, that is from this night. Here is another view

We left tonight all up to the boss. She decided she immediately wanted to go to Tomorrowland. Now when we were getting off the bus and going through the turnstiles, there were a LOT of folks leaving. I was really excited thinking that the park would be dead. I was wrong....AGAIN. It was still really busy for having a horrendous storm going through it. Space Mountain had some kind of insane wait (60 or 90..I forget). So we skipped that. But we proceeded to make our way through the rest of Tomorrowland. Aisling's first and last choices were very odd for our normal touring plans.

First up...Laugh Floor!

Now in fairness she picked this first because it had a 10 minute posted wait. They were wrong. It was closer to 30. We had a pretty good audience so the show was good. Next we got FPs for Buzz and went on 2 oldies but goodies! People Mover and CoP. When we came out, it was time for...

After Buzz, Aisling announced that she was getting pretty sleepy and wanted to do only one more ride and then get going. (At this point, the MSE was going on...so it was getting close to parking closing by certainly before EMHs had started).

He choice was something my family had NEVER ridden and with a 20-25 minute wait was a good enough choice to wrap up the evening

This thing goes waaaaay faster than I would have imagined. In the group in front of us, the woman who rode in my rocket got stuck. I was paranoid pretty much the whole ride that I might end up getting stuck but I'm happy to report that I got out ok in one try (thank you WWs!!!!)

On the way out, WISHES was starting so we saw a little bit of it as we were making our way through the crowds.

As if by Disney magic again, a BC/YC bus was waiting when we got to the bus area. I really prayed that this would be a good sign for the buses during our trip.

Beach Club was welcoming us in all it's pretty nighttime glory when we got back

And at last we were back in our room and Day 1 had officially come to an end with all the Smith's snuggled into their beds

:welcome: So you got through security with no ID??? Did you have to go through extra security or something??? See we are people who TRULY needed a vacation ;)
:

Yup had to go to security and say I have a business card and a credit card (Disney Visa mailed me a card to the resort!)-that was it! He asked me several questions and that was it...I thought it was going to be a lot harder and was sooo nervous all day! I had called the airline and they said just plan on extra time but they didnt take me aside or anything...Like I said before, I am sure I am not the first person to lose their wallet on vacation!
I am sorry you had to go through that scare though! One day you will look back and laugh!

Yeah for making it MK! Sounds like you guys had a nice, low key evening-perfect start to a vacation! We have still never done Laugh Floor, although every trip I say that we are going to do it. We have also never done Astro Orbiter....but you know how I feel about spinning and how Toby feels about the height, so I don't see that one on any upcoming park plans! Can't wait to see what your next day holds! ;)

You really should do the Laugh Floor. The show totally depends on the audience and whether they are good sports but it's generally pretty funny

hee hee..i knew it.. we left about 7 that day I think to head to Chef Mickey's.. and yes..ponchos ponchos for sure!

Subbing!

So weird how it was very rainy for you guys at MK on the 19th, but it was barely drizzling at POP and Downtown Disney for us!

The 27th it POURED and was windy and nasty at Epcot and my friend was over at MK and then the GF and it was barely sprinkling..

It looks like you managed to have some fun at MK, even with the rain and lack of sleep. I've never ridden on those rocket things either. I'm always afraid the spinning will make me sick for the rest of the day (it probably would).

I also have a pet peeve about little kids taking up seats while older people stand- especially when their parents have a perfectly good lap for them to sit in. When my kids do sit in a seat, I make them cram onto one seat unless there are plenty of seats for everyone.

We love Cape May for dinner too (and breakfast). It's really become a favorite of ours. :thumbsup2 Love Aisling's outfit for the night!

I can't believe that you guys made it to MK at all after being up so early! I would have needed a serious nap by then! :lmao: That poncho picture reminds me of one of our nights in MK. ;)

What a great first day!!! (Well except the wallet and storm)...you really did alot!!! :goodvibes
