Let the Prom Drama CONTINUE . . . . . . . .

:lmao:
Sounds like more scare tactics on idiots part. Unless the state is willing to write the check, and the issues are not immediate safety concerns, I don't see how the state can "mandate" anything. I still think he is creating a huge smoke screen to divert attention from the immediate matter at hand. Where did the money go, I think he knows and is coming up with all kinds of diversions to avoid the hard direct questions.

I wasn't particularly a fan of the previous supt. for several reasons, but I told DH that if I were him, I'd have my lawyer call the new one and tell him that he either made a public retraction of a lot of what he insiunated, or he'd be receiving notice of an impending lawsuit very soon. :rolleyes1

Long chat with DD's Dr. and she agrees with us. Anxiety and the tools she has to cope are no longer working. Aggravated when she gets over tired which she does very easily. She suggested a child psychlogist so today I am putting together a list of the ones that are on our insurance plan for Dr. to review and she will then make a recommendation. She also talked to DD at length about how there is nothing wrong with her and that this issue can be addressed and dealt with. She also talked with her about how she needs to understand and recognize what she is feeling and "know" that it will go away and not let it ruin her morning.

I feel for her, but you have to do what you have to do. Unfortunately, sometimes you just have to learn to suck it up and deal with it. As long as she's healthy, you would just be enabling her if you let her get by with it every time. Still, it's tough. Some people tend to be more sensitive than others (would you believe that I'm 48 years old and still bite my fingernails :headache: ), but you can't let it get the best of you.

I thought of you all weekend, is all okay where you are?

No problems here. We might get a little rain, but I haven't seen any yet. It's been cloudy today, but that's all.

So, who attends these things?

The media (primarily) along with the big shots at the school and in government. Probably some of the major donors to the school, but I don't know that for sure.

They are in dire need of places to sleep, and DD could probably get $500 a night (at least 2 or 3 nights) for their 2BR apt., but we all know that her roommate won't be going along with that. ;)

Code:
 It's hard playing second fiddle in the lives of our children. Ungrateful brats:rolleyes: How did the pictures go?

Well, she changed her mind at the last minute and told him to bring his clothes over to our house for her to do. They got to see some of the pictures before they left, and DD said they turned out very well. She's eager to see the rest of them (won't be until about a month though).

What ever happened with the employee at the pharmacy who was suspected of tinkering with the drugs?

She is still coming in infrequently, and they are trying to replace her (fill in pharmacists are not easy to find).

DS came home on Friday and picked up all the dirty clothes on the floor of his room, he then hauled them back to his dorm where they were having a free laundry weekend. He did 4 loads.

Good boy! :thumbsup2

He came by for a couple of hours last night, he tucked his sister into bed and chatted it up with her for awhile then he and I sat outside and talked till about 12:30 a.m

See, he still remembers you!

We had a movie night on Friday with DD

That probably took her mind off of DS being gone too.

DD bought herself a lime green fuzzy creature marionette. She named it Grinch and so far I have only had to take it apart twice to detangle it! Ugh........

DH LOVES Grinch. That's his favorite Christmas show. DD brought him a little Grinch beanie baby back from US/IOA one year.

I got a nasty sunburn yesterday, : I just hope all my tan doesn't peel:rolleyes1

Fingers crossed

I've really started to like my new job. After I get through these horrid classes and actually learn the library computer system (and what all it can do), I think this may be the easiest job I've ever had. I can't believe that I just leave at 3, and nobody is calling me at home or wanting something! :cool1:

Hi Ladies,

I've decided that these short working weeks are going to kill me off. As much as I'd like to be independently wealthy and not work 5-day work weeks, at least there's a sense of normalcy. Not so with a 4-day week!!

There's one of the benefits of my becoming a librarian. I hardly ever got to actually take the holiday off. Now, I just leave. I'm adjusting much better now. I have to be honest, it was kind of hard to leave from being "in charge" of so many things (I admit it, I tend to have a Type A personality). I had a great deal of autonomy, and truth be told, I really resented going back to actually having to sign in and out every day! :rotfl2:

But, that said, it really is nice to actually be off when the calendar says I should be! ::yes::

Will write more later, but wanted to let you know that we got back okay from the football game (Nebraska beat Western Michigan 47-24, so all went well).

Ole Miss had a good game, so all of those fans were well pleased with the new coach. Mississippi State did NOT do well at all, and I really hate it for Coach Croom. He seems like a really decent guy, but this season looks like a far cry from last season. Hopefully, the team will come back stronger next time (but I'm not too sure it's going to happen).

Just came back from my Weight Watchers meeting. I hadn't been for a few weeks but I had been pretty "good" in my eating habits, so weigh-in was good. I've lost 19.4 pounds since July 1st, which was when I started. So the progress has been SLOW, but at least there HAS been some progress!!! I still have a way to go, but at least the numbers are going down on that darned scale.

Girl, that's great! :thumbsup2 The doctor told me last week that I need to start watching my sugar intake, or I may have a problem at some point. You can believe me, I listened. So, I've been much more particular about what I'm eating! ::yes::

There they go again with that "at your age"............

Blasphemy, ;) I live for short weeks.......I know, more work during the week, but more jammie time at home is worth it.

Good job! Don't you find it harder to lose and slower as you get older? I got off about 25 #'s before we went to Texas last year and it took forever! Now, that it is creeping back on it is creeping back to places I have never had issues (middle instead of butt/thighs) strange! My pants still fit, but my clingy tanks look gross on me!
I hope that all is well with you. Melissa, I hope that your DD is adjusting better to her mornings. I know it has to be frustrating when you want them to do one thing, and they try everything in their power to manipulate the situation so that they do something else. I hope that the child psychologist will be of some help; it sounds like a good idea. I also hope that you're adjusting to DS's absence. I have good days and bad ones!!!
DD came down with Strep last Wednesday and missed 3 days of school. I took her to the Dr. Friday morning and she was the 6th positive strep test of the day and it was only 9:30.
I also got 2 names from the Ped to contact for DD. On my list of things to do today. She is back at school today and had better stay there:rolleyes1
Well, back to work. I am finally getting my hair highlighted this afternoon, so I'd better clear some stuff off my desk. Talk to you later!!!!
How did your hair come out?
I wasn't particularly a fan of the previous supt. for several reasons, but I told DH that if I were him, I'd have my lawyer call the new one and tell him that he either made a public retraction of a lot of what he insiunated, or he'd be receiving notice of an impending lawsuit very soon. :rolleyes1

:sad2: amazing......
DH LOVES Grinch. That's his favorite Christmas show. DD brought him a little Grinch beanie baby back from US/IOA one year.
I love the Grinch, the original is my favorite Christmas special. DH finally bought me the DVD a few years back.

I can't believe that I just leave at 3, and nobody is calling me at home or wanting something! :cool1:
So glad to hear you are starting to enjoy it.

Oh my, time flies, I haven't posted in a week!

Sheila:
Any word on DD's results yet? Did you finally get some much needed rain from Gustav and what did idiot have to say in part 2?????

Sandy:
Any Nebraska games on your agenda? How is DS settling in? How are you and DH settling in? Is Tundra walking in circles wondering where everyone is?

We had a quiet weekend. DD had strep so we layed low on Saturday. Yesterday morning we went to the Balloon Races. We skipped Dawn Patrol (just way too early to see a couple of balloons fly in the dark) it is really cool but we have been several times. So, we arrived at 6:15 A.M. just in time for the mass ascention which is my favorite anyway. Everywhere you look you are surrounded by balloons, you feel the blast of heat from the burners, you cheer on the pilots as they lift off etc.
Friday night DS and I attended a HS football game. It was the first time his HS played the team that they lost a playoff game to in a very controversial call 2 years ago. The paper on Friday even made note of that call. It is a widely held opinion that DS's team got the shaft and DS has never gotten over it:rolleyes: So, we went to the game. We won, we had fun and DS went down onto the field after the game to congratulate players and his former coach. Not as sweet of a victory as it would have been 2 years ago, but a victory nonetheless. Then he and girlyfriend took off and went to her Mothers in N. Calif for the weekend.

He is really liking school, seems to be settling in, thinks his roomie is weird and a slob, but they are managing to co-exist. He is still being heavily courted by the Frat boys and says he is keeping up on his school work. I know he is seeing a lot of Girly because of the amount of gas he is going thru (we buy his gas).

My BFF is finally recovered from having her tonsils out, it only took 3 weeks and 3 days for her to begin to feel human again. Thank goodness, someone to talk to!

My house is actually clean and so far staying that way. I threated DH, told him there was now a spare room that he could move into if he couldn't manage to pick up behind himself and stop leaving his crap all over the house.

That is about it here on the homefront. The National Championship Air Races are this weekend and are almost in my backyard, so we have been listening to lots of planes that have been heading in for the start of the practice sessions that begin today. The Thunderbirds are due in on Friday. It'll be a noisy week!

Hope all is well in your lives. Check in when you can

DD came down with Strep last Wednesday and missed 3 days of school. I took her to the Dr. Friday morning and she was the 6th positive strep test of the day and it was only 9:30.

Don't you just hate when you keep telling them they're not sick, and then they are...:headache:

When DD was finally diagnosed with her problem a couple of years ago, the first thing she said was, "See, I kept telling you that I didn't feel good, but noooo, you wouldn't listen!" She loves to be right! :rotfl2:

I also got 2 names from the Ped to contact for DD. On my list of things to do today. She is back at school today and had better stay there:rolleyes1

Let us know how that goes.

How did your hair come out?

Well, Sandy, are you ravishing? :woohoo:

So, what was in part 2????? Published last week, right?

Not really anything, just a bunch of nothing drawn out. I do not think he helped himself any with his article. I found out today that he told the central office staff that they are to start having coffee out in the community, so they can hear what's being said and contradict it giving his outlook. That's the strangest I've heard yet...:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

A month! in this digital age, ugh!

Haven't heard yet...:headache:

I love the Grinch, the original is my favorite Christmas special. DH finally bought me the DVD a few years back.

I got it for DH too. It's never been one of my favorites, because (I know you'll find this hard to believe :rolleyes1 ) I just couldn't stand how the Grinch treated his little dog. :guilty: I know, I know, it's just a cartoon, but I'm such a sap... :rotfl:

Yesterday morning we went to the Balloon Races.

I would love to see that!

We won, we had fun and DS went down onto the field after the game to congratulate players and his former coach. Not as sweet of a victory as it would have been 2 years ago, but a victory nonetheless. Then he and girlyfriend took off and went to her Mothers in N. Calif for the weekend.

Glad the game went well (even if it was 2 years too late). Best of luck with the GF...:rolleyes1

I know he is seeing a lot of Girly because of the amount of gas he is going thru (we buy his gas).

Well, if nothing else, he knows you know, so maybe he'll start putting some gas in on his own, so you don't have to pay for it all.

My BFF is finally recovered from having her tonsils out, it only took 3 weeks and 3 days for her to begin to feel human again. Thank goodness, someone to talk to!

I had it done when I was 18, and it was horrible. It took me 2 weeks to be able to hardly talk. She has my sympathy! :flower3:

My house is actually clean and so far staying that way. I threated DH, told him there was now a spare room that he could move into if he couldn't manage to pick up behind himself and stop leaving his crap all over the house.

I wish I could find someone reliable to clean my house. It really needs it.

The National Championship Air Races are this weekend and are almost in my backyard, so we have been listening to lots of planes that have been heading in for the start of the practice sessions that begin today. The Thunderbirds are due in on Friday. It'll be a noisy week!

Enjoy the planes!

Things are very quiet here. DFi's FFA Alumni group is putting on a womanless beauty review this weekend as a fundraiser for the FFA (much to his distress). Of course he has to be in it, but he's doing it kicking and screaming. DD found him a dress in a thrift store at her college town. It's actually a very nice dress and was probably pretty expensive (not that he cares :rotfl: ). She got his wig off ebay, and it's due any day now. It should make for an interesting evening. I told them Sunday that I thought I was going to have to get my wedding deposits back from the sound of his voice Saturday night (she made him try the dress on so she'd know whether it fit or not, and he wasn't happy :rotfl2: ).

Life is nuts!!!! :cool1:

Dropping by for a quick minute - I have been horrible in keeping up lately. I have had to deal with work incompetence (partly due to them sending some of this stuff overseas; we told them this would happen, but do you think they would listen, uhh, no . . . :rolleyes1 )

The highlights turned out well, but I am NOT "ravishing" at the moment. In anticipation of trying to exercise today, I am in sweats, sports bra, shirt, and my hair piled under a ball cap. I look a fright!!! Thankfully only Tundra has to look at me!!!

Melissa, I hope your DD's strep is better. Have you had to keep her home from school? Glad to hear that your DS is adjusting well. Ours is doing fine - he doesn't call me every day like DD did, so we call HIM when we need a "fix". The house is a lot quieter and it is harder to adjust without him being here than when DD left because he was still here, but we are doing okay.

Your superintendent still cracks me up, Sheila. What's his next trick? - Mind control? Sounds like he's in shock that he's not loved by one and all. Wonder why? ;)

Any word from Vanderbilt?

Oh - forgot my big news. Last Saturday, when McCain and Palin were in Colorado Springs, DH and I volunteered for the Republican Party for the rally. We were ushers for the event, and got positioned near the stage. We were the "gatekeepers" for the bigwigs that sat behind the podium - you had to have a certain invitation with a goal seal on it to enter that section. Really interesting to see all of the Secret Service and campaign organizers working feverishly before they got there. And when they did, we were so close, we got to shake McCain's hand, and DH got Sarah Palin's autograph on his volunteer badge. Cindy McCain was also about a foot from us, but she wasn't shaking hands (she had a pink cast on her right arm, and I remember reading that someone shook her hand vigorously about a month ago and reaggravated her carpal tunnel syndrom in that arm).

One thing that was really neat was that about 5 feet from us, when Sarah Palin was coming our way, was a dad that was holding his baby, who looked to be about 6-9 months old. The child clearly had Downs Syndrome. When Sarah got to him, she kissed the baby, rubbed his leg, and told the dad, "Oh, he is so precious." And she was sincere about it. Whether you like her as a vice-presidential candidate or not, I thought it was very impressive.

We rode the motorcycle to Vail on Sunday and went to the street fair up there. Had a relaxing time.

I gotta get back to work - I promise to be better soon!!!! Time flies when they're working you to death.

:rotfl2:
My kids are not above saying the same thing. It's the old cry wolf scenario, they do this to themselves. If DD wasn't threating to yack just about every morning then maybe when she said she didn't feel well I would not be so prone to roll my eyes.
The school secretary already thinks I am one of those evil mothers. She called me last week, "Mrs. T, your DD is not feeling well, you need to come get her" I say "let me talk to her, she is very prone to drama, has she vomited at least twice?" Silence, dead silence..............
Well, Sandy, are you ravishing?
Must be, her DH isn't letting her leave the house or get near a computer to post! :lovestruc :goodvibes
Not really anything, just a bunch of nothing drawn out. I do not think he helped himself any with his article. So, let me see if I have this straight. Idiot wants his employees to eavesdrop on the locals and report back to him:confused: I am assuming this is on paid time?
Oh this guy is twisted.....
I got it for DH too. It's never been one of my favorites, because (I know you'll find this hard to believe :rolleyes1 ) I just couldn't stand how the Grinch treated his little dog. :guilty: I know, I know, it's just a cartoon, but I'm such a sap... :rotfl:
That is just funny, I can picture you being worried about a cartoon dog.
Glad the game went well (even if it was 2 years too late). Best of luck with the GF...:rolleyes1
Here is the latest with Girly. DS tells me she doesn't like to hang out with us or be at our house.:confused3 Our normal routines (ie we don't come home drunk, we don't have daily drama that we expect our kids to resolve, we eat together as a family, we like each other, we rarely fight and the utilites have never ever been shut off (okay, there was the one time I paid the garbage bill twice and didn't pay the phone bill;) anyway, we make her uncomfortable! OMGosh.........I just want to strangle that boy.
Well, if nothing else, he knows you know, so maybe he'll start putting some gas in on his own, so you don't have to pay for it all.
One can only hope:rolleyes:
I had it done when I was 18, and it was horrible. It took me 2 weeks to be able to hardly talk. She has my sympathy! :flower3:
DS was only 10 but it was a nightmare.
I wish I could find someone reliable to clean my house. It really needs it.
we got rid of housekeeper 6 months ago, it has taken us awhile to get into the groove of upkeep, but we are getting there. Did discover one benefit to DS being gone..........the toilet in the bathroom that he and DD share is MUCH cleaner! ;)

Enjoy the planes!
I'm just praying they all stay up in the air. Last year there were 3 or 4 fatalities. This past weekend there was another fatality when one of the pilots was out practicing. Those planes make me nervous. They do fly over our house but only when approaching the field for a race. The race pylons have actually been moved in recent years to keep the "turns" as far away from homes as possible. The planes can and do crash but statistically there is a much higher rate of crashes while they are in the turns. Picture speed skating, where the skaters all bunch up for the turn, well now substitute planes going hundreds of miles per hour. The "unlimited" class is just that - unlimited power. The T-Birds will be out and if past years are any indication, we will be able to see the pilots faces as they zip over our back deck.

I have decided my DS is starving to death at school. He called me last night and wanted to have breakfast this morning. Ok, we meet, here is what he ate:

Biscuits @ Gravy (huge)

Hash browns

2 sausage patties & an egg

Side order of sour dough toast and then my 2nd piece

Side order of French toast (huge) w/butter and syrup.

He was eyeing my ham steak:laughing:
:scared: they aren’t feeding him at that school he is attending! ;)

You all have a great day

My DH is going to be soooo jealous when I tell him. I think he is in love with Sarah:lmao: Last week we were laying in bed watching the news. He fell asleep, he was snoring! The news puts on a snipet of her speech, he sits straight up and starts watching her, I was :rotfl2: I made some comment on him having crush on her and he glared at me, rolled over and went back to snoring.

I think the McCain camp hit a home run. It has actually spurred DH into conversation:faint: last night he was all twisted because Oprah won't interview her. I of course :stir: and ask him why she should be treated different because she is a woman. :3dglasses
We rode the motorcycle to Vail on Sunday and went to the street fair up there. Had a relaxing time.
Sounds like fun

I
gotta get back to work - I promise to be better soon!!!! Time flies when they're working you to death.

Have a great day

This may not be politically correct, but I am sick and tired of talking to somebody from some other country when I have reason to call a company. DH answered the phone last night for some kind of poll and refused to participate because it sounded like it was someone from India, and he wasn't going to strain to try to understand them.

Thankfully only Tundra has to look at me!!!
She doesn't care what you look like and is probably more interested in what you smell like:lmao:

Very good point! :rotfl:

Your superintendent still cracks me up, Sheila. What's his next trick? - Mind control? Sounds like he's in shock that he's not loved by one and all.

You know, you have absolutely nailed it. That's a lot of what his problem is. He honestly thinks he's that special. He's immature and in way over his head, but he thinks everybody else is incompetent. I told DH that the Supt. has made the mistake of believing his own press (and he's nowhere near how he presented himself to start with).

Any word from Vanderbilt?

Nope...

Oh - forgot my big news. Last Saturday, when McCain and Palin were in Colorado Springs, DH and I volunteered for the Republican Party for the rally.

I think the McCain camp hit a home run.

I agree completely! I was very impressed by the choice he made, and I have to admit that it raised my estimation of him that he was smart enough to make that choice. Definitely a home run, and it may be what wins the election for him. I certainly hope so anyway. I do NOT want Obama elected.

And I've got to say here that I was somewhat offended by a comment someone made on another thread concerning Obama. They said that if he wasn't elected it would only be because of his race. That was really sad. I don't care if he's polka-dot. I (and most of the rest of the country) am perfectly capable of making my choices without someone's race making a difference. Good grief... :sad2:

"Mrs. T, your DD is not feeling well, you need to come get her" I say "let me talk to her, she is very prone to drama, has she vomited at least twice?" Silence, dead silence..............

So, let me see if I have this straight. Idiot wants his employees to eavesdrop on the locals and report back to him I am assuming this is on paid time?

You're close. He not only wants them to listen, he wants them then to interject themselves into the conversation explaining the Supt.'s position and why he's right. Can you say "propaganda"? :rotfl2:

Here is the latest with Girly. DS tells me she doesn't like to hang out with us or be at our house.:confused3

Oh my, that is NOT good. It seems to me that she liked you just fine before she started playing mind games. I never like to hear that a BF/GF is trying to pull that. It's not a good sign. On the other hand, your DS knows perfectly well that you have done nothing to make her feel that way. He may gradually begin to see that she's trying to create an issue where there is none, and she won't come out looking too good either.

I'm just praying they all stay up in the air.

I talked to his mother yesterday, and she was laughing her head off when I told her about the weekend's events. She asked if DD was going to be able to get him into pantyhose, and I told her that I hadn't heard one way or the other, but I suspected he was going to run screaming when she started toward him with the make-up. He got lucky and won't have to wear heels. If he does, the dress will be too short! :rotfl2:

I have decided my DS is starving to death at school. He called me last night and wanted to have breakfast this morning.

He was eyeing my ham steak:laughing:
:scared: they aren’t feeding him at that school he is attending! ;)

WOW, that's one good eater! Has he thought about one of those eating contests?! ;)

I am chuckling as I read this!! Yes, the poor school secretary is behind the learning curve right now . . . give her some time!!!

So, let me see if I have this straight. Idiot wants his employees to eavesdrop on the locals and report back to him:confused: I am assuming this is on paid time?
Oh this guy is twisted.....
The guy is a loon!!!

That is just funny, I can picture you being worried about a cartoon dog.
I can see that too. Ms. Doctor Doolittle to the rescue!!

That is not good news. So you're too "normal" for her. Seems to me she just wants unsupervised alone time with your DS, and she gets that at HER house and not at yours. Sorry to be blunt, but that's why I think your DS is going along with it for now. Hopefully, he'll learn!!

I hope everyone stays safe!!!!!!!!!!!

:scared: they aren’t feeding him at that school he is attending! ;)
Poor starving kid. . . :lmao:

DS is coming home Saturday for a night. We are planning on cooking crab legs, steak, and his favorite spice cake with cream cheese frosting. Can you say "Diet the next day?" :)

:3dglasses
Sounds like fun
My DH is so proud of that autograph. Like your DH, he thinks she's "hot" too! About time the Republicans employed the "hot chick" strategy!!!

This may not be politically correct, but I am sick and tired of talking to somebody from some other country when I have reason to call a company. DH answered the phone last night for some kind of poll and refused to participate because it sounded like it was someone from India, and he wasn't going to strain to try to understand them.
Oh, I feel the same way, and no, it may not be politically correct, but I have had it up to here dealing with my work suffering from their incompetence. All to save a few dollars, and gain upper management big bonuses when they substantially cut their budgets to some certain goal level.

Immature is a very accurate word to describe him. The most dangerous people are the ones who think they are geniuses. The smartest folks are the ones who realize how much they still have to learn!!!

:sad2:
Palin's choice as the VP candidate has caused more excitement in the Republican Party than I've seen in YEARS. Best choice they could have made, and I think the Obama/Biden folks don't know yet how to effectivey deal with it. All of these "lipstick" references in speeches this week don't seem to be helping their cause. I'm not a strategist, but I think I'd just drop them.

I too, get tired of the "race card" stuff. Apparently there was a commentator that wrote that if Obama didn't get elected, there would be a race war. Talk about scare tactics!!!! The problem for him is, he started with such a bang and ended his own primary season limping across the finish line. The DNC didn't give him a huge bump, like they thought it would, and the Palin nomination really threw them for a loop and really bumped McCain to levels no one anticipated.

I have to admit, though, that I have been watching The O'Reilly Factor's interview of Obama over the past few nights, and his toughness does impress me. Not his views, but I do feel better about him than I did before. But I will still be voting for McCain.

:rotfl2:
This whole story is meaningless without pictures!!! :rotfl: Although I would bet that he isn't going to stand still for any!!!

Well, work calls, so I'd better get to it. Have a good day, all!!!

This whole story is meaningless without pictures!!! :rotfl: Although I would bet that he isn't going to stand still for any!!!

He has issued strict orders that NOBODY is to take pictures! :rotfl2:

He's so tore down about this that he has threatened everybody to make sure nobody tells his grandfather that he's in it. His grandfather is probably about 80, and has always been involved with horses and rodeo (raised some excellent horses that went on to national championships at the highest level). He still rides. DFi is mortified at even the suggestion that his grandfather know about it, because he says, "Cowboys DON'T wear DRESSES!!" :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

Speaking of the political threads, Sheila and Melissa, I do peek in on them from time to time, but I have vowed to stay out of the back and forth. I get peeved when certain things are said, but the truth is, you're never really going to change someone's mind - that's why I always preach to my kids about NOT discussing politics and religion with others. Conversion will never happen, and all the bickering does is create hard feelings.

Have a good evening!!!

I agree 100%. I stay out of them too. As an American, I think everybody is entitled to their own opinion whether it agrees with mine or not. I think it's sad that people often can't have a discussion without resorting to insults or talking down to others. It certainly doesn't help anything.

Take care!

I totally agree. If I want a political argument, I'll just engage my DH:lmao: not some stranger.

I remember when I was a kid, my Dad was a die hard liberal Dem and my Mother a far right conservative christian Rep. The Presidential race between Ford and Carter had them at war. I remember it vividly. My Mother is quite the instigator and went after my Dad and his liberal views with a vengeance.

DS and his BFF are in opposite camps, they go at it and it cracks us (BFF's Mom and I up) young'ins have such passion!

You know, it's great that they do take it seriously! DFi is adamant about making sure DD remembers to vote absentee since she's at school on election day. Now, I would make sure to remind her myself, but it's a little funny to see how "up in arms" he gets about it when she starts coming up with reasons why it may be too much trouble for her to do that (she's just baiting him ;) ). He falls for it every time! :rotfl2:

Oh, that is such a pet peeve of mine. If you are in customer service, for goodness sakes put people on the phone who speak clear English. Couple years ago we were booked on Delta to fly to FL and they kept changing our flights. I would have to call and always got someone who didn't speak clear English. I finally figured out how to get back to a US operator, but boy was it frustrating.
Very good point!

I told DH that the Supt. has made the mistake of believing his own press (and he's nowhere near how he presented himself to start with).
You're close. He not only wants them to listen, he wants them then to interject themselves into the conversation explaining the Supt.'s position and why he's right. Can you say "propaganda"? :rotfl2:
The guy is a loon!!!
Immature is a very accurate word to describe him. The most dangerous people are the ones who think they are geniuses. The smartest folks are the ones who realize how much they still have to learn!!!
Yep, that about sums him up. Wouldn't surprise me if he gave everyone a pre printed summary of points he wants discussed - as my BFF would say, he is Kookoo for Coco Puffs! :lmao:
Ugh, I can't imagine how stressful the waiting is for all of you. Has the preferred parking helped your DD with her fatigue?
:rotfl2: I'm sorry... :lmao: I'm really sorry but... :rotfl: I would have loved to hear what the woman was actually thinking! :lmao: :rotfl2:  :rotfl:
I am chuckling as I read this!! Yes, the poor school secretary is behind the learning curve right now . . . give her some time!!!
I guess I should have sent DD to the new school with some sort of disclaimer:laughing:
Don't know if I brought you all up to date, but DD took a turn for the worse on Tuesday night (after 5 days on an antibiotic) and was back to having a decent fever and was complaining about a sore throat. Took her to her Dr. Wednesday morning, the Strep is clearing up but now she has a severe sinus infection. OMGoodness, I don't think she has ever had a sinus infection. She is a walking germ........ Her Dr. changed her antibiotic so I am hoping we see some improvement today. When I got home last night, she was kind of a gray color and just listless. She has missed 6 days of school out of the past 10 days. Fortunately we are keeping up on her work and her teacher has been communicating really well. DH has had a nasty cold all week also. I try not to breath when they are both around. I actually put a big pillow between DH and I at night so he doesn't breath on me!
That is not good news. So you're too "normal" for her. Seems to me she just wants unsupervised alone time with your DS, and she gets that at HER house and not at yours. Sorry to be blunt, but that's why I think your DS is going along with it for now. Hopefully, he'll learn!!
No worries about being blunt Sandy, you are dead on accurate. BFF and I were discussing it last night. Girlyfriend lives in a very dysfunctional environment where the grownups do not know how to be grownups and she has been in the position to have to sort them out for years. That does not occur at our house, we know what we are doing and we do not "allow" the children to sort us out. I think the reason she is uncomfortable is because she is not in control. Plain and simple. Okay, can I just say, she is so much like me at that age, that she doesn't realize I get her and I am watching her like a hawk.....I was not exactly a mothers dream for their son's when I was that age either. I know I had better manners and more etiquette, but I also know I was very manipulative and controlling.
I am very frustrated. It irritates me that he doesn't have a problem with this. It irritates me that she is controlling his movements and he doesn't seem to notice. Okay, I'm just irritated because he is just being stupid. :headache:
I talked to his mother yesterday, and she was laughing her head off when I told her about the weekend's events. Good for him to be willing to put himself out there like that for a cause. I do agree tho, pictures are worth a 1000 words! Surely given the size of todays camera's someone can get him! :lmao: Grandpa doesn't have to know
WOW, that's one good eater! Has he thought about one of those eating contests?! ;)
Poor starving kid. . . :lmao:
He's wasting away:lmao: We are getting together with his BFF and BFF's Mom (one of my very close friends) for a poker night tomorrow. DS has requested no pizza or fast food. He wants real food:lmao: I'm going to get Costco's shredded beef (yummy) and then bring along all the fixings for taco's and burritos complete with the tortillas that you can buy that are "raw" and you cook them at home. They are sooooo good.
DS is coming home Saturday for a night. We are planning on cooking crab legs, steak, and his favorite spice cake with cream cheese frosting. Can you say "Diet the next day?" :)
Yummmmm - see Your DS is ready for some home cooking too!
How is he settling in? Does he like his roomie? Does he like the food? What kind of activites has he been doing?
My DH is so proud of that autograph. Like your DH, he thinks she's "hot" too! About time the Republicans employed the "hot chick" strategy!!!
It's working!
I have to admit, though, that I have been watching The O'Reilly Factor's interview of Obama over the past few nights, and his toughness does impress me. Not his views, but I do feel better about him than I did before. But I will still be voting for McCain.
My DH is always watching O'Reilly, Hannity etc.... Don't ask him to discuss anything from the local paper, he is without a clue, but, he loves those shows. I admit, I too have been sucked in...... I was also very disappointed in Charlie Gibson and his interview. I have always liked Charlie and didn't like his tone or attitude at all. I guess I see him as a morning show guy and not a hard hitting journalist.
You know, it's great that they do take it seriously! DFi is adamant about making sure DD remembers to vote absentee since she's at school on election day. I predict they will be happily married for a very long time! :lmao:

Yep, that about sums him up. Wouldn't surprise me if he gave everyone a pre printed summary of points he wants discussed - as my BFF would say, he is Kookoo for Coco Puffs! :lmao:

Oh, here's today's news alert! If you recall, he fired the previous business manager (been there for years and had even been asked to present at the state conference for school business officers). He hired Ms. Wonderful who was snotty and absolutely impressed with herself. The problem was that she didn't know half of what she thought she knew, and we wound up having to hire a "consultant" (the last figure I was privy to was $30,000 and that was back in June, I don't know how large it got). Of course, she said it was because things were such a mess (I'd have to disagree with that).

She looked down her nose at those of us who had been around so long and treated us with very obvious disdain. It is rare that I adamantly dislike anybody (I just don't care enough to carry a grudge! :rotfl2: ). Well, I adamantly disliked her. :headache:

Well, I found out last night that she has resigned! :woohoo: She took another job as an asst. business officer in another school district. I know that she and the Supt. had not been getting along at all, and I heard he wasn't speaking to her very nicely when she was giving him orders (remember, she knew everything).

So, I'm very pleased that she's gone, and can't wait for the next saga, because I'm sure the board is going to bristle at the idea of hiring another one of his choices.

Plus, he recommended somebody at the last board meeting with the sole intention of giving the job to somebody else. Once you're hired, the Supt. can transfer you anywhere he wants to. He hired the new one, moved the one he wanted to to that job, and put the new one in the other one's job (are you confused yet?). I hear the board is not impressed (he does have two supporters on the board no matter what though).

Has the preferred parking helped your DD with her fatigue?

She said it has helped a lot. She doesn't park in handicapped, just visitor or faculty.

Don't know if I brought you all up to date, but DD took a turn for the worse

You know you're being punished for being an uncaring parent, don't you??? ;)

I am very frustrated. It irritates me that he doesn't have a problem with this. It irritates me that she is controlling his movements and he doesn't seem to notice. Okay, I'm just irritated because he is just being stupid. :headache:

Oh, honey, do I understand that. When we had that problem with DD thinking the guy from Ole Miss was Mr. Wonderful and not seeing what we saw, I thought I was going to lose my mind. And, like you, I had been around more than DD. She's a much better kid than I was at her age, and I see things for what they are better than she does.

If it helps any, she was overheard telling her BFF recently that she can't believe she was so stupid concerning that guy and that she sure learned a lesson over that. We'll hope that your situation goes as well! :thumbsup2

Surely given the size of todays camera's someone can get him!

Well, I wouldn't be surprised if some heathen took at least one. :rolleyes1

He wants real food:lmao:

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

I predict they will be happily married for a very long time! :lmao:

We certainly hope so! :thumbsup2

Gads what a week, I'm already tired! Hope you are all well.

Sandy, My Auntie from Portland is flying into your neck of the woods today. Her BFF lives in Colorado Springs and she and her armpit dog Goldy are coming for a visit. So if you see a spicy short (4'10") red head with a Golden Shi - Tzu under her arm, do not be afraid, she is just "Spunky" :lmao: My Auntie, not the dog:laughing:
How was dinner with DS?

Sheila, any news from Vanderbilt yet? Was the pageant this past weekend? How is idiots propaganda campaign coming along?

I don't have time to go back and catch up so I thought I would just give you all the latest........
DD is finally on the mend. Missed 6 out of 10 days of school, Ugh. She might have been sick but her feet have grown a full size in exactly 1 month. We had to go find her new shoes last night. Not such an easy task when they must be solid black, and I do mean solid black. No 2 tone black/gray, no gray or white logos etc. Even the logo must be all black. Yeah, good luck with that one! Believe it or not, Payless has the best selection. I have never ever bought Payless shoes for either of the kids, guess I am kind of a shoe snob, they always wore Stride Rite. Anyway, Payless has been where we scored the past 2 pairs and we have our eyes on a pair of solid black "Ugg" style boots for winter. :lmao: DH wanted to know why DD would want to wear slippers to school, he is such a fashion moron:rolleyes:

DS received a "bid" from Sigma Phi Epsilon and decided to join, so my Darling DS is now a Frat Boy! Oh dear, the visions of Animal House are racing thru my head! He is now a member of their flag football team and having a ball.

Saturday night we had a martini poker night with the boys. Okay, so I had a couple of martini's  and made the following comment to DS's girly. "I know we make you uncomfortable, but you and DS spend a great deal of time doing things with your little brothers (same age as DD) and your family, remember, he has a sister who misses him too." That was all I said, I was nice, not judgemental or snotty. Just matter of fact. DS sent me a text on Saturday night, shortly after I said what I did and he said he will take his sister to go do whatever she wants next weekend. I told him, you don't need to take her anywhere, you just need to give her a little bit of your time, she misses you. DS and Girly came over the next day for dinner. Of course the promise of steak probably helped in his decision. While I was cooking dinner they and DD went and curled up in my bed and all 3 of them were watching a movie. DD was smack in the middle:rolleyes1 happy as a clam! Nothing like a 10 year old for a chaperone;)

Not much else going on, the planes all stayed in the air last weekend and other than the huge traffic jambs when everyone leaves the airbase at the same time the event was a great success. I was awoken from my nap by some hot shot Thunderbird pilot who was enjoying himself buzzing 10 feet above my house (okay, not 10 feet, but the house rattled like it was 10 feet)

Now, Reno gears up for Street Vibrations which is a huge motorcyle event. There will be bikers everywhere next week! Thankfully, the events are in town, not in my back yard.

That is about it on this front..........same old thing, different day.

Oh yeah, I forgot. Sarah Palin further enamored my DH, she actually knows how to pronounce Nevada! Unlike most people, commentators and even the actors on CSI Las Vegas:lmao:

Have a good one.....

Well, it sounds like things are going fairly well in your part of the world. I'm also glad that your DS took the hint (well, I guess you couldn't really call that a hint, could you? :rotfl2: ).

I took off Monday and Tuesday because I was about to lose my mind over these classes I'm taking. Got up to come to work this morning (even left a little early), and as I drive by my uncle's driveway, I see what looked suspiciously like a pile of manure. I stopped the car, backed up to check, and that's exactly what it was.

I quickly went back to the house and started calling horses. I got four. We have five. :headache: Long story short, I did finally locate him and put him with the other four I had in the barn. I just shut that particular pasture off until DH can check the fence.

Soooo, I was late coming to work, hot, sweaty, and beet red in the face from my morning's activities! :lmao:

One very enjoyable thing happened today though. The Supt. came by to see me. Said he'd heard I was frustrated and unhappy, so he wanted to check on me, because my "high level of expertise was an asset to the district". Then he went on to say that he had been trying to text messages to me, but I hadn't been responding. I looked at him and said, "You took my phone." His eyebrows shot up, and he was obviously embarrassed. Then I added, "By the way, someone I know called it last week accidentally, and it hasn't been turned off yet even though I turned it in several weeks ago." That was one embarrassed man. He couldn't get out of my office fast enough! :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Have a good day! :rolleyes1
