Good Morning Girls:

Jail! Gheesh, nice to know your opinions are so high :lmao: :goodvibes

Sandy:
Glad to hear DD could skip stat's (really tough class) unless it is "your thing" and honestly I don't know anyone whose thing it is. My DH is in SixSigma training and has decided to revisit statistics at the Community College this Spring, I'm throwing out $5 he won't finish! :rolleyes1

The branding/positioning sounds really fascinating, I hope she enjoys herself. It is nice to get to the point that a lot of the general Ed stuff is out of the way and one can take classes that are more interesting.

Well, it is official - DS managed to pass AP Bio, with a C but he passed nonetheless:cheer2: He turned in his book right after yesterdays final. I asked him this morning "So, now that you know what it takes, are you willing to finish the class?" when he finally broke the silence he did so with a firm NO! Hey, an AP class I get a test deposit back on!

Horseshowmom:
Hopefully the teachers will finish the year, the kids really suffer otherwise. Although, maybe that is what it will take to get the School Boards attention.
I know something will come along for you, I just hope it surfaces soon to alleviate the anxiety and frustration you are dealing with.

So, Mr. Supt. has the power to just walk in and fire the Secretary? Doesn't she have any type of job protection? What a weasel and I was sad to read she went to the meeting, it just reinforces the idiots feeling of self importance.

Animals really are a great soother aren't they. Tigger and Chachi, an unlikely pair but a pair all the same.

We have been coaxing Deck'ster in at night as it has been very cold. Last night was 10 and it was 14 when I got to work this morning at 8:30! Burrrrr
He/she is still very skittish but doesn't hide as much. Last night he discovered DD's pet rats! I'm sure the rats had an uneasy night:rotfl2:

How did the ear surgery with DH come out - was it successful? (I don't remember if you told us)

Well, not much going on here. Planning another visit to Oregon for Feb. I have to go physically check in on my mother as often as possible (it keeps the courts that grant my Guardianship happy)

My Boys are big Patriots fans so this weekend is all about football.

That is about it for me. You all have a good day!

Melissa

Testing the thread to see if it's working!! Hope that it is . . .

Now this one shows up after I posted the one below. I have no idea what is going on!

(I deleted the rest of it.)

I tried to post this once, and it didn't show up. I'll try again.

Well, at last the thread is showing back up for me again! :goodvibes

DD found two dresses that she really liked, so of course, she bought both of them! :rotfl2: And shoes to match (like she doesn't already have an obscene amount of shoes to start with:rolleyes1 ). :lmao: When I talked to our Bus. Manager who just got fired, I told her that we may all wind up without food or electricity after being fired, but if anybody needs shoes, DD has it covered! :thumbsup2

Fortunately, the dresses were on clearance (holiday party dresses that were drastically marked down), so she got both of them for $50. They (she and her two friends) were trying to work out the logistics of what to do with the guys (2 of the guys live a hour away and the other one lives several hours away), so I suggested that she and her roommate go stay with the other girl (who shares a 5 BR house with some other girls) and let the 3 guys have their apartment (2 bedrooms and a couch). They seemed to like that idea.

DD is really excited. As I said before, it's the Pharmacy Winter Semi-Formal, and she likes getting all dressed up. I know DFi is probably less enthused (that whole dressing up thing ;) ), but they'll have a good time. The group that is going together are great kids, so it should be fun.

Here's hoping this works! :thumbsup2

Let me add that I spend quite awhile out in the cold (very cold!) trying to water horses this morning before work.

DH gets perturbed with our Paint who is a terrible cribber (it's hard to explain, but it's not good for them and can cause some health problems), so he's strung wire over the top of the stalls to keep him from doing it.

Unfortunately, he also strung it over the stall door that they have to go through to get to the outside door. The Paint will walk under it, but Cisco won't come under it (which he would have to do since he's on the other side of it to get to the water which is in the barn :rolleyes1 ). That meant I had to try to fill out the outside tub. Of course, the water hose was almost completely frozen (only a small amount tribbled out, so it was a slooooowww undertaking and did I mention it was COLD! :scared: ).

DH and I are going to discuss this tonight! :rotfl2:

Well, now it's working. What the heck? :confused3 Ladies, maybe the thread is getting too long and cumbersome for the system (what do I know, though?). Think about the options I thought of and let me know what you want to do. Of course, if you come up with something better - that's fine too!!

Crossing fingers - that this does not take 24 hours to show up

Horseshowmom:
The formal sounds like a lot of fun. I don't get the whole shoe thing, but I have several friends that are shoe addicts.

I was at a MaryKay party last night and the host's DD and a friend were on line looking at dresses for the JA (Jr. Assembly) dance in Feb. JA is a huge event, it is a District wide formal held at the National Bowling Stadium in town and approx 2500 kids attend. It is one of those invitation membership type things. A certain number of Sophomores from each high school are extended an invitation for membership, based on school population. The invitation is a one time offering and we paid a 1 time fee. The members and a date get to attend the formal once a year and they are eligible for a scholarship drawing when they are seniors.

The girls were saying that red is really popular this year since they have discovered all the Christmas clearances and by not spending a fortune on the JA dress they are then getting more leeway with Mom & Dad's pocket books for the Prom in May. Teenage logic hard at work!

You lost me with your "horsespeak" :lmao: This is what I got out of it:
Typical Hubbies, they cause the problem, we have to deal with the issues they caused and then they give you the :confused3 look when you try and get them to fix their initial problem.....:lmao: am I close?????

Sandy:
I'll go read messages when I am done with this. I am assuming you sent some suggestions as to what to do about this thread.
For the record this thread is short in comparison to many I have seen.

The insurance adjuster came out yesterday to sort out our fence, windows and roof shingles. He was telling my DH that the week before he was out in Fernley where the flooding was and he had to tell 30 homeowners that they did not have any coverage. I feel so bad for those people, I think they are getting screwed by the insurance system. Even the adjuster said that he felt that American Family should be writing some checks to help these people out. He told DH that if they can find a loophole to get out of paying them they they should be able to find a loophole to be able to help them out some.

I'll go check messages.................I'll be back:goodvibes

I don't get it either, but that's okay, DD gets it enough for both of us! :rolleyes1

It sounds like fun, and it's nice that they get a shot at a scholarship (everybody can use that! :thumbsup2 ). Hooray for the clearance sales. In DD's case, one of her dresses is black and the other is teal. She's wearing the black one to the Winter Semi-formal and saving the teal one.

We had the same thing happen down on the coast after Katrina. Lots of those people are just now getting settlements after having to sue their insurance companies. :sad2:

It's just not right. I am no expert, just going off of what I have read. I remember reading things after Katrina along the lines of "we had flood insurance, not hurricane insurance and the insurance co. says it was because of the hurricane so we are not covered" and vis-versa for people who had hurricane insurance and not flood insurance. I hope the governing bodies put the screws to the insurance companies and make them pay up which they should have done in the first place.

In the Fernely incident it was a privately maintained levee for the irrigation district that broke, not a river or lake that overflowed due to excessive rain. The area is not considered in a "Flood" zone or anywhere close to a "Flood" zone. I'll bet the option to purchase flood insurance was never even thrown out there for those homeowners and now their homeowners insurance company is bailing on them. It's just not right IMO!

When that fire hit Tahoe last summer and 275 homes were gone the insurance companies were advertising how quickly they wrote their customers checks. The Fernley disaster is actually on a smaller scale as only 1 or 2 homes were actually condemned, the rest will need drying out, flooring, walls, paint etc along with appliances and furnishings. Yet, these people are not getting a dime out of their homeowners insurance.

Okay, I'll go put away my soapbox and return to my research on a Caucus. They are being held here in NV tomorrow and I am embarrassed to admit, I don't know much if anything about what a Caucus is.

That reminds me of the I Love Lucy episode where Lucy wants to be nominated for the office of President of the Wednesday Afternoon Fine Arts League. She makes some remarks about caucusing, and Fred makes reference to the fact that she didn't have any idea what a caucus was before it was broadcast on television (which was still pretty new at the time).

Good Morning Ladies:

Hope you all had a great weekend. It is snowing again..........the kids are home all snuggled in their beds and DH and I both had to work, sucks to be us.

DH and I went off to the Caucus on Saturday morning - what a nightmare of confusion, crowds and a whole bunch of people that had no clue as to what was going on. After almost 2 hours of standing in a crowd where we could hear nothing and could hardly move, we gave up and left. I say bring back Primaries.

Yesterday was a happy day in my New England Patriot house! We had friends over who are San Diego fans and had our own mini Superbowl party since yesterdays game was more fun between us than the Superbowl will be. We will be hosting a larger crowd for Superbowl.

Sheila:
You can appreicate this. Saturday, DS's girlfriend took him horseback riding with her. We caught up with them for dinner and DS could hardly move and was walking funny:rotfl2: Then about 10:30 Saturday night (really early for him) he walks in the door from her house since he is "Exhausted" and heads to bed. I heard him groaning Sunday when he was attemting to get out of bed:lmao: I met him at the foot of his bed with some Advil:laughing:

That is about it, it is cold and gray here (not supposed to get above 30 today).

Hope you both have a great day

Burrrrrrrr
It's cold!

Hi Ladies!

Just popping in to say good morning......

DS got an inquiry from a football coach at MacMurray College in Illinois - you guys ever heard of it?

Just about the time that we are all settled with where he is headed, we get an inquiry that shakes everything up. He got an inquiry from a JC in N. California but he is not interested, he wants to get an education from a "University".

So, I thought I would see if you guys knew anymore than we do (heck, I am not even sure I spelled Illinois right)

My first thought when I was perusing their website was "MedField" college from the old Disney movies.......Kurt Russel and that goofy administrator!

Anyway, I am working on quarterly reports, W-2's & 1099's! Oh joy, I just love the end of the year! :headache: :rolleyes1
back to work.........

Happy Monday!!!

No, Melissa, I haven't heard of MacMurray College. I went to their website. Looks like a pretty campus; like the red brick buildings. I also went to the football website. Uhh, Melissa, they lost every game this past fall. :confused3 I guess that means that your DS would have a chance to play immediately if he decides to attend there!!

I hope that you both had good weekends. We went to Vail on Saturday. The skiing was good - not as nice as the week before, mainly because they needed some new snow and it was overcast - made it hard to see contours in the snow. Probably won't go up again for 2 weeks.

I spent yesterday cleaning our bedroom and bathroom. We still had junk piled around from when we were preparing to leave on vacation in December. It was a pit, and thankfully now it looks a lot better.

Not much going on here - I am not in the mood to work and I HAVE to. Sigh, back to that. Will write more later when I get the chance!!!

just found what you did, they didn't just lose, they got slaughtered and from the tone of the email DS got, sounds like they fired everone and are starting over with a Freshman team! DS heard the school size (650) and said No Way!

We enjoyed the the game between the Giants and the Packers. DD, DH, and I were cheering for the Giants (Eli and his dad used to QB at Ole Miss). OTOH, FSIL was for the Packers (Favre is from Mississippi and played for Univ. of Southern MS). Either way, it was a good game. :thumbsup2

Bless his heart! :rotfl2: People just don't realize how much work there is to horseback riding. DD used to get really perturbed because A Beka (who we homeschooled through) would not recognize horseback riding as being eligible for P.E. credit. She said she'd like to see them hold an English post for 45 minutes to a hour and then claim it wasn't exercise! :lmao:

You have my sympathies. I spent the morning in the office with the woman who is trying to sub for our Business Manager who was fired last week. We were trying to sort out some problems. She's frustrated because she's having to try to do this (and doesn't know what she's doing), and her own job isn't getting done.

Sounds wonderful! We were under a winter storm watch overnight, but it was bringing ice (which is what we're most prone to), not snow. Fortunately (at least for us), it went north of us.

I spent yesterday cleaning our bedroom and bathroom. We still had junk piled around from when we were preparing to leave on vacation in December. It was a pit, and thankfully now it looks a lot better.

My bathroom is calling your name (oh shoot, so is the rest of the house! :rotfl: ).

Found out this morning that one of our principals who has been here for 30 years has been told that he'll finish out the year, and his contract won't be renewed. He did an excellent job of maintaining discipline in his school. He wasn't a jerk and didn't act like it was some kind of military dictatorship, but he didn't put up with any nonsense. The students were expected to "act like somebody" (if you know what I mean). I'm really sorry about this. I've heard that all 3 of the others are going to be told the same thing (it's not fair, and they're good principals - with test scores to prove it). :sad1:

I am not in the mood to work and I HAVE to. Sigh, back to that.

I can sure identify with that...

Come on over, a friendly rivalry is always more fun and we have lots of finger foods - yummy

Being the kinda B****y person that I can be:rolleyes1 I don't think I would be all that eager to step in and help. Let Mr. Idiot sort out the issues, he caused them.

Mine too!

Send him my way, we could use some good ones. I know around here that the administrators focus on test scores a lot! My DD had something like 2 weeks of ongoing testing coming up:headache: part of me wants to keep her home to annoy the VP! Told you I could be a little B****y:rolleyes1

I am amazed yet again at the power that the Idiot has.

Stay warm, those ice storms are so nasty!

What do you do with all the animals, do they come in and hang out in the den or what? :rotfl:

Part of me thinks that DS's determination to now stay at the local univ. has to do with the GF and I am not so sure that is a good idea. I hope he is thinking past it, but I am not convinced that he is.

Well, it is my day to pick up the darlings (term used loosely, very loosely:lmao: )

Til tomorrow ladies..............Toodles:dance3:

Well, I love finger foods! (BTW, I doubt very seriously that the Giants have even a remote shot of beating the Pats! ;) )

Being the kinda B****y person that I can be:rolleyes1 I don't think I would be all that eager to step in and help. Let Mr. Idiot sort out the issues, he caused them.

He has "assigned" her to this "task" (one of his favorite words). I talked to the former Bus. Manager this afternoon and talked about spending time this morning trying to straighten out the issues with the budget. Since we're friends, she offered to talk the other person through it.

I told her that she still hadn't fully grasped what "fired" means and that under NO circumstances was she to help in any way (even if it is me). If we don't get it straight, I'll tell whomever inquires about it that we did the best we could considering the fact that the bus. man. was fired with no warning! :rotfl2:

Several things came up today that she usually handles. Guess what? They aren't being handled now. Sorry, not a problem that I caused. :rolleyes1

What do you do with all the animals, do they come in and hang out in the den or what? :rotfl:

Some of them do come in (my handicapped Siamese, for example - he only wants in when it's really cold, otherwise he wants to be out). Most of the cats sleep in the hay in the feedroom of the barn. With the doors shut, the barn actually stays pretty comfortable. My older dog who stays outside would be welcome to come in, but she gets hot really fast and and asks to go back out.

You might be right. He's about that age. ;)
