Specifically, the birds. Lauri and I are going to be grandparents!! :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

Last night I noticed that Whirly, one of our parakeets, was laying in the corner of the cage kind of weird. I looked closer and saw something odd next to her, so I called Lauri over to look. Sure enough, it's an egg.

It's only her first egg and her first clutch, so nothing may come from it, but we're going to keep an eye out for more. If there are and they look like they're fertile, then Whirly and the eggs will be moving to a separate cage with a nesting box.

Thing is, we also need to figure out which of the other birds (we have 7 parakeets and one cockatiel in the same cage  ) is the daddy so we can move him over as well. Not going to have any deadbeat daddy birds in our house. :teeth:

congratulations! I'd suggest lining the bottom of the nest box with sand (play sand that's for kids works). Good luck!

Oh, y'all are going to love THIS!!!!!!!

Like I said, we figured out who the daddy bird is -- turns out it's one of the birds we thought was female. Lauri read online tonight that it's hard to tell the sex of a mostly white bird (like the daddy) because they're partly albino.

We stopped at Petsmart and got some things for the parents-to-be -- a cage of their own and a nesting box and pine shavings for nesting material -- so we can keep them separate from the others. I'm looking at the two of them sitting on a perch in their new love shack ("if the cage is arockin', don't come aknockin'") when the momma is squirming around a bit. Next thing I know ... PLOP!!!! An egg comes out and lands on the bottom grate in the cage.

First I find the egg, then I see them getting it on, and now this????

Now are there one or two eggs????? Hey maybe twins...better figure out now who gets the midnight feedings..

And congrats...:D

Do I get to name the birds? I think they should be named Chirp and Quail. Dot Com for the last name of course.

Jeff, if the birds have the same last name as your dog, then are they all related :)?

Sex with birds and plopping eggs I will report this to a moderator, I don’t want any of your sick twisted bestiality stories making their way onto this great family oriented board.

Get a room you sickies. :p :p :p

Oh and gongrats on the new additions to the family, but can you claim them as dependants for IRS purposes?
