Let me ask you about Crocs... :)

What are your favorite kind of Crocs? I'm leaning toward Nile's. Can the ankle strap be pushed to the front of the show? There are new crocs called Scutes, my DH likes those (not so wierd looking lol) My DD likes the thong crocs and i have zero idea what a boy would like.

How many young boys (age 10 ) really and i mean really wear crocs? My son wont wear them if other boys arent lol, but he loves to get wet, and hates soggy shoes.

Do they run small or large? If my hubby is a 10 1/2 should he get an 11 (his foots a bit fat too, are they wide) I'm a good sized 9, but some 9's like nikes are snug. My DS who is growing ofcourse is a 2 1/2 kids shoe..what size to get him i wonder?

I've been afraid of buying these as i sunk a ton of money into birkenstocks (nurse shoes lol) and they KILLED ME. they were hard and knobby. ugh.

I can't tell you about the nile or the scute...but I can vouch for crocs. I absolutely love these shoes. They are comfortable and just simply amazing. I have the regulaur 'ugly' croc as people call it( aka the beach) These run in sizes like 10/11 so me being a 10 (sometimes a 9) fit into these. Yes I have big feet...
I am not sure about the sizing on them. But for my and people I know it's run pretty close to size.
As for 10 year old boys, yes I've seen many young kids in Disney wearing these (yes BOYS) and if your DS likes them why not? They are the best shoe.
I recommend ordering them!

ack, I certainly wouldn't put a 10 year old boy in crocs clogs! maybe it's just me but that just screams "BEAT ME UP"!!! Seriously though...I wouldn't put my 4 year old step son in them b/c they "look like girl shoes!" as he says. My step daughter loves hers though. I've seen men in crocs but at least it's their choice! There are TONS of other water sandals you can get for a boy that are cheaper and more main stream looking...y'know TOUGH The Scutes do look more like soccer sandals and more unisex. And for those of you who have sons who love and adore and wear their crocs proudly...that's great! Please don't flame me! Just giving my opinion here!

as for Birks...did you get the ones with the knobby footbed? Yeah those will kill your feet...I'm not sure how those were ever supposed to be comfy, but I am a die hard birks fan...they save my feet on any long trek I've ever taken!!

Maybe if you got a different pair of birks they'd work better for you.

It may be a regional thing, but where I live every child of every age 2- 16 wears them, boys and girls. My nephew is 8 and he and all of his friends wear them (dark colors). I just saw a picture of Tim McGraw wearing them... He isn't even CLOSE to being girly!

I just ordered the "Nile" but will be returning them because they run small. I wear, and ordered, a size 11 but my big toe was hanging over the front and the sides rubbed against my pinky toes. I think I'm going to order the "Cayman" in a size 12 and see how they fit.

They should fit very loosely.
The sides of your foot should not really touch the sides of the shoe.
Your toes should never make contact with the front of the shoe.
Once you have centered your foot on the foot-bed:
You should have about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch of space in front of your toes, behind your heel and when you lift the strap you should be able to comfortably get your finger between the strap and heel.
In other words the fit should be “loose”.
I know that this goes against everything that you have ever been used to in a shoe, but these are the parameters that the shoe was designed to be worn under. No Pressure points Ever!

Just a hint...try payless...they have this new airwalk style...look more like boys shoes. as a matter of fact, they have them in similar styles in leather, and I know they have boys sizes. I almost bought a pair for myself. They come in black. My husband won't wear regular crocs, but I bought him a pair of the airwalks, and he is actually going to wear them.

Okay not an expert or anything, I've had my crocs for about a month now. I love them they are so light and they fit my wide at the toe and too high arched foot better than any other shoe. I normally buy a 6-6 1/2 (sometimes even 7) and in crocs it's the 4-5.
So actually trying to size the shoes might be better to do at a store then order online. Or use an online shoe company that will do easy returns like zappos
As for boys not wanting to wear them, I had to take my 2 DS (ages 10 and 16) to get some (the airwalks at payless, but they don't know the diff) so they'd quit trying to ram their hugemungeous feet into mine. They got the dark colored ones though. As for the DD (17) she wouldn't have anything to do with them. I begged, pleaded, and just about crawled on my knees trying to persuade her she'd like them. Absolutely not, she said, they were too ugly! Her loss, Mom was paying!

I wore mine for one day and my feet are aching like never before. I've never worn an orthopedic shoe... but i doubt this is normal. It's a sharp pain in the midle of my right foot. Taking the crocs off makes it go away.

Yup . . . boys and girls wear them. I work in a school and have seen both genders wearing them.
To the OP . . . if your hubby wears a 10 1/2, I would go with the size 11 Cayman.

The scutes look nice, I bought the thongs and they were pretty comfortable.

One thing, I would order these at least 2 months in advance of when you need them and that you phone in your order, I had a really rough time with crocs customer service.

My 10 year old son (just turned 11) absolutely loves his! He has 2 pairs and would wear them every day if we'd let him. He even wore them to school. I think it might have something to do with the fact that his "very cool" uncle wears them. In fact, I made my 13 year old son and my husband try them on the other day even though they said they weren't interested. They had them on for about 2 minutes when they both said they were sold - they both own a pair now, too.

Do NOT, I repeat do NOT get the Niles. I took a pair to WDW and hated them, regreted every minute they were on my feet. They are not at all cushion-y like the "regular" crocs are. I hav two pair of Payless Airwalks which are great - I wore those the other 6 days at WDW and my feet felt fabulous the rest of the time. The one day with the Niles though - YUCK. Blisters, horrible sore heels, hot spots. Ugh.

Step - did you wear them with the strap forward (like a clog) or back? I used to wear mine with the strap back like a shoe & my toes would ram up against the front of the shoe causing arch pain. If you haven't, try them with the strap forward. I love my Crocs now - I can go all day without my feet or legs getting tired! I've been in Crocs since Nov. 2004.

I bought the new Croc Scutes and I love them. I tried on the beach crocs, caymen and the athens, and didn't fit right. I'll be wearing my navy blue Scutes to WDW in August.

After reading the DIS, I expected every other person in WDW to be wearing Crocs, but I saw very, very few--and I started looking! That said, the ones I did see were on very young boys. Oh, and on my daughter, who wore them nearly every day and had no complaints about sore feet at all.

Leather Tevas for me, though.

I've had a funky knee since my grade 3 MCL tear last year, now lately i've had electric shocks running down both sides of my tibia area, wierd. Part of my rump is numb..now if thats not to much info, i'm guessing in need a good orthotic type shoe! I was hoping losing wieght would help, but after nearly 30lbs its gotten WORSE!!!

WHERE IS THAT DARN POPCORN! (this low carb thing is a killer lol)

You might have to wear them for a while...I felt like my feet were slopping around in them until I got used to them - now I prefer Crocs over my slippers. (for the most part!) I can't wait to give them the ultimate workout at WDW!!!

CONTRATULATIONS on losing 30 pounds!!! Keep up the great work!
