Lesson learned. Need more days in Disney!!! Aug 2010 (NEW 1/20-COMPLETE)

Thanks Wikipedia!! Is it still a museum? I couldn't tell, it was so far away.

Yes it's still a museum, though I have never visited it. It's a small museum.

Oh yeah, I read about the Go Fast pass. Sounds like the Universal express pass, but more expensive....I don't like how they make it sound like you're reserving a time in the ride. I was so confused when I was reading about it at first.

Yeah, I think we're all spoiled by Disney's awesome theming. I still love going to Wonderland and now that I have a season pass, I don't only have to go when I have a full day and have to make sure the whole day isn't rainy! It's nice to tour it non-commando style and go when the crowds are lighter.

I really want to try a six flags park, so I can't wait to visit La Ronde! I'm a thrill junkie

The Go Fast Pass did work well to get us on the newest roller coaster in about 15 minutes instead of the two hours line, but for another ride we had to wait close to 45 minutes because it was having problems. It was about 20$ each for three people.

If you are a thrill junkie then La Ronde has a lot to offer. Some great coasters, and a few other thrill rides too. I have yet to try Wonderland.

I'm caught back up.

I think I would have swooned if Capt. Jack had winked at me.:lovestruc

Thanks for sharing your Montreal trip. I love hearing about places I've never been to. What an adventure. Down south we drive everywhere so I know I would be lost using buses and trains.

Yay, I'm glad you liked the yellow scene! It was SOO COLD. Even though it was a getaway....it didn't really feel like it...This was my Spring Break. Where's the spring???

I'm still in school right now for the summer. I'll be graduating at the end of the summer!

Which sandals do you have? Yeah, I think that was my problem with the Athens too. Super cushy footbed, but uncomfy toe thong. I had to send mine back.

Oooh, Champion shapeups. Let me know how that works out!

I have the Cleos http://www.crocs.com/crocs-cleo/10043,default,pd.html?cid=240&cgid=women-footwear-sandals
They don't have the color I got anymore - they are a pearl grey with a seafoam green footbed.

I also have the Minnie Mary Janes in chocolate with pink straps, and I have the original pinks, too. I love all of them - they have just fallen out of fashion lately, but i think I would still wear the minnies at a park.

OH MY GOSH, you just reminded me!! I was trying to remember why that picture was there and it was because Andrew said, "What? How did we get to Epcot?" We took that pic cause it looked like Spaceship Earth. I should add that to my post...Thanks for reminding me!

Oh my gosh....freakin ice box...What about.....a Disney cruise?? That's the best of both worlds, you should def try it. Especially since there'll be new cruises departing from NYC now!

Which Crocs do you have? I have the Capris and the Duet Flip. I love the Sanuks because they were just SO SOFT. My Crocs didn't help with my blisters much, but I still love them too. We can't have too much shoes, right?

haha yeah I was surprised you didn't mention it in the post originally! I mean, it's not every day you run into a giant geodesic sphere, ya know? :rotfl:

I have thought about doing a Disney Cruise many times! But it always just comes down to me wanting more time at the parks and then deciding against it. But who knows, maybe one of these days...

Hmm. I am not sure of the name of my crocs. They are just the basic most common design, I got them at Everything POP! and added Stitch and Mickey charms in there :) You'll see when we get to that point in my TR! I really want a pair of the Athens, though. They have such nice pearl pastel colors.

In 1967 Montreal had a World Fair (called Expo 67). This geodesic dome was actually the American Pavilion. Then in 1976 there was a fire during renovations and only the steel frame remained. It stayed closed for a very long time, and reopened as a Biosphere water museum in 1990. (thanks Wikipedia!)

Ooh, interesting! Thanks for the info! :thumbsup2

Haha, up here in the city, we use subways and buses a lot, but it's exiting the station where there are only French signs that really threw us off.

I think you would like the rides at Wonderland. The crowds can get ridiculous sometimes, but on an average day, the lines are actually not so bad. They also have a "after 4/5pm" price that's a pretty good deal cause the parks are emptier in the evenings.

Oh, I saw the Cleos, but they're not really my style. They sound pretty though!

I've always wanted to have a pair of MaryJanes..But their new Frances shoe is pretty nice too.

I can't wait to see the Crocs you got! The Athens is very nice, but my toes are too close together for it to be comfortable. LOVE the heel bed though.

You could do a land and sea cruise! Go to Disney, then go on a cruise. Actually...that would be an awesome Girls of the Dis trip, which is definitely going to happen someday!

That would be an AMAZING Girls of the Dis trip! We need to make that happen one day!

Commenting on old entries:

I like your video of the "fake" monorail. I've never taken an airplane to that airport before (we've gone to another airport and then rented a car). I'd totally have fun on that monorail! It'd be part of the experience! I've only seen it in pics, so it was cool to see what it actually was all about.

AHHHHHHHHH, how fun that Captain Jack winked at you! Haha, that must've been so so so so thrilling. I mean, yes, I know that it's just a CM, but Disney really makes you believe it's the real person!

Most definitely.

Haha, I'm glad you liked my video! I LOVED yours. I just love being put in the first person view. Feels like I'm experiencing it myself! Which is why I love so many of your shots.

Haha, not just ANY CM, but a CM that looks like Johnny Depp and SUCH a looker :lovestruc He put on a great show. It was tempting not to give him my room key :rolleyes1

We went to Toronto last summer and were suppose to try Wonderland. DH's DD had gone to Universal with her mom the year before and LOVED the roller coasters. But then last year she decided she didn't like coasters anymore (or thrill rides), so we didn't go. Hopefully I'll get to go there before I get too old for coasters (I don't have the same tolerance I used to. :rotfl:)

If you come this year, you have to let me know! I have a season pass and would also love to accompany you around Toronto.

I don't know why I just noticed your TR link now. I LOVE STITCH AND TINK the best too!!! They're my two favourite non-human Disney characters. What a coinkidink!

Oooh, that would be fun! We are seriously considering a quick weekend trip at some point, especially now that we will be "DD free" all summer (her mom is taking her way East for over a month). I was thinking of showing Quebec City to DH, but Toronto is a definite other possibility as he has family there. Next time you come to Montreal let me know and I can help show you around too. :)

:woohoo: for Stitch and Tink. :wizard: Hope you enjoy following my PTR/TR/wedding TR.

That would be fantastic! Then I won't be spending 10 minutes trying to find my way every time we exit the Metro.

All caught up! Glad to hear you had fun in Montreal, and I loved reading about it! Can't wait to hear more Disney (even though I'll be going myself in five days :rolleyes1)

KELLY!!!!! Five days, omg. I'm so jealous. You're going to have such a great time!!!! Are you all packed?

Hey Yuki! I think I'm finally all caught up. I'm glad that you had a good time in Montreal. It seems like a cool place.

A land and sea vacation would make an excellent Girls of the DIS trip. :thumbsup2 Of course, I have a feeling that I'd spend the entire cruise portion of the vacation wishing for more Stacy/WDW/Mickey Mouse rice crispy treats, so maybe we should do the cruise first. :rotfl:

This is my problem and why I cannot do a cruise. I feel like if I do WDW first, once I get on the cruise I will be saying "Why did I book this cruise, I could be having more days in the parks right now!" and I will be so annoyed that I won't even be able to enjoy the cruise. If I book the cruise first, I will be so anxious to get to WDW that I won't be able to enjoy the cruise, either. So basically, the only solution is to do like 4 days at disney, 3 day cruise, and 4 more days at Disney.

Chapter 20. Day 4 pt.5-Hidden Mickeys with Friends!

We headed back to Pop around 4:30pm. I'm surprised we even lasted that long in the sun! I love the heat and all, but I was afraid of getting a heatstroke (cause it's happened before you know? At Epcot?). In my earliest planning stages, before I really got into the DIS, I had planned to spend ALL DAY including eve EMH at MK. I've done it before, I'm sure I could do it again. But of course....the effects of Dising are potent. After chatting with Jordan, he convinced me to take a beak during my MK day since I had eve EMH anyways. The park would be open until 3am! I still wasn't sure about taking a break until the day of. Lesson number 12. When there's eve EMH and you're tired by mid-day, go back to the hotel for a nap!

We took a much needed nap and just hung out in our nice air-conditioned room. Ok, here comes a mini-rant. I don't know what people have against Pop Century! I mean, I hear a lot of, "It's ok to stay there cause you won't be spending a lot of time in the hotel anyways." But what's wrong with this hotel? I mean, I spent a lot of time in our room during our trip. I loved coming back to it. It had a lot more space than I anticipated and it was a really nice room. To me, it wasn't just a place to sleep. It was a place to hang out and lounge around and cool down. The rooms are even nicer after the new refurbs. I understand some people may not like the building decor, but you're ultimately going to spend more time IN your room than OUT of it. Ok, rant over.

We woke up around 7pm and each took a shower before heading back to MK at 8pm. I LOVED walking out to the bus stop that late at night. The temperature was PERFECT. I miss Florida and their warm nights in the summer...It also felt great to just kind of...leisurely make our way to the bus stop. We were in no hurry, didn't have to get anywhere by a certain time. We were just taking it easy and that was the BEST PART.

I would consider my touring style to be commando-type. But I also planned all these breaks into my trip, so I didn't burn out easily. I don't think you have to be one or the other. I think I'm more of a combination of both. I like to have a plan, but I also like to slow down and appreciate things around me.

We get to MK right before the first showing of MSEP. All the ropes have gone up around the route and tons of people were just sitting around, waiting. Andrew and I don't have much of an interest in watching the parades, so we weaved our way through the ropes and crowds and head straight to Phillharmagic with a 10 min wait!

I LOOOVE the posters they have on the walls. Unfortunately, the line was moving too fast, so we only got this one.

Oh, I almost forgot! A few months before my trip, one of the things I had planned to bring to MK were glow sticks! I remembered from my last trip how badly those little children coveted those glowy-type spinny thingys at the beginning of the parade and Wishes and decided to bring my own to hand out to them!

My friends said it's only ok cause I'm a cute little Asian girl and not a creepy old white man.

On the bus ride over, I noticed that a 14/15 yr old was celebrating her birthday, so I gave her one of my glow bracelets. I think a little boy saw them and asked me for one too. I bought a pack of 12 sticks. We had a bit of trouble getting them all to glow at first....Lesson number 13. Have all the glow sticks cracked and glowing before handing them out.

When we were winding throughout Main street, I gave one out to a little girl that was crying, and some other kids that had birthday buttons and wished them happy birthday. I LOVE doing stuff like this!!! Most of the little kids weren't sure what to do with me when I asked them if they wanted one, but as soon as their parents agreed to it, they gladly accepted. They were so cute!

All that was leading up to this photo. I still had a few left. I think this looks really cool!
DSC00553.jpg

It was another great show as always. My favourite part is with Aladdin. We came out about 10 minutes before Wishes started, so we grabbed a drink from Pinocchio's and stood around in Fantasyland to watch it.
DSC00554.jpg

We actually stood next to Dumbo.
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v...ns/2010 WDW/?action=view&current=DSC00555.jpg

Sorry folks, no pictures of Wishes. It was VERY cool to watch it from that vantage point. It was happening right above us! I had initially planned to watch from the train station at the entrance, but we didn't have enough time to get there. Still had a great show.

After Wishes, we made our way over to Minnie's house one last time. I had to take a picture in this chair because I have one from my very first trip.
DSC00558.jpg

Wow...I can't believe I have no notes or pictures about this...good thing my memory is still working! Before my trip, Allears had a few articles about the hidden gems at WDW. I was able to get the hidden gems for MK and DHS copied down. In Minnie's house, I picked up the answering machine and heard other characters leave her messages! Also, you can press a button on her microwave and it'll pop some popcorn in a bag for you. And turning a knob on the oven, you can watch a cake rise in it. All of that was so much fun, I'm not sure why we didn't take any pictures.

We were getting hungry by then cause we hadn't eaten dinner yet, so we headed to Casey's Corner for those famous corn dog nuggets. Ok, I'm very sure I didn't take any pictures because I was busy video taping. It was so cool in there, with the moving bat and stuff. We ordered some nuggets and ballpark nachos. Andrew was overjoyed at the cheese dispenser!!!

So, we layered the nachoes with cheese, jalapenos and salsa. Ta dah!
DSC00559.jpg

He also grabbed a few cups of cheese for himself....Bad idea...

It looks GROSS but it tasted SO GOOD, haha. And the nuggets were DELISH. I love that mustard. It was hot and soft and juicy and just very good. Definitely one of my favourite snack foods. We walked over to that little small side street where the music and dance lessons were and grabbed a table. It was so nice and quiet over there. The 2nd MSEP just started and we sat there, watching the parade and listening to the upstairs rooms. It was a great getaway spot during a very crowded time. We also grabbed a cup of tap water from the Bakery to go with our food.

After finishing our "dinner", we went into The Chapeau to find another hidden gem. At the back of the store to the right, there is an old fashioned phone that you can pick up listen to! It's two ladies chatting and gossiping away about somebody. I handed the phone to Andrew to listen to and after a minute or two he went, "Wah!" and put the receiver back. I asked him what happened and he said he heard one of the ladies say, "Hello? I can hear you breathing you know. You shouldn't eavesdrop." :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I can't believe Disney even thought to do that!!!! It was SO AWESOME. I highly recommend everybody else give it a try. It's supposed to be different every time.

After MSEP crowds had dissipated, we headed over to Pirates for my first Dismeet ever! I made a stop at First Aid to grab a bandage for my foot. My flip flop strap was rubbing too much and I had some nasty blisters. While we were waiting for the nurse to come back, we saw a small family with a little boy that was very upset. Half his face was swollen and he was crying about how unhappy he was. It looked like he had a bad reaction to some nuts he came across. He looked SO upset, like his whole trip had been ruined. After putting my bandage on, I took out the pirate medallion that I got from Pirate's League and gave it to him, and wished that the rest of his trip would be more magical.

He calmed down a lot after that and his parents thanked me. I really liked that medallion, but it felt really good to do something good with it. I can always just buy another one anyways. On a side note, First Aid has some GREAT bandages! They were comfy and held onto my foot just right and fit very well. I'm a bit of a klutz, so I've tried a LOT of different bandages.

When we got to Pirates, I was pretty sure I saw Tom and Karin (dizneeat) sitting by the pirate stage, but I wasn't so sure. I had sent everyone a PM about me doing Pirate's League, but hadn't counted on wanting to take it off before the meet, so I was afraid the others wouldn't recognize me. I was also wearing a different outfit than the one I had SAID I would be wearing.

Lesson number 14. When meeting up for a Dismeet, do it in a well-lit area. Most of us knew what each other looked like, but since it was SO DARK, it was really hard to tell. Andrew and I stood around the entrance to Pirates and looked to see if others would show up and Karin and Tom came up to us! They were expecting a pirate girl, and I apologized :worship:

We chatted a bit about our trip so far and about THEIR trip so far which was FAR MORE INTERESTING imo. I think they were staying at the Coronado Springs? After a bit, Kandace(KandiK) and her family came up to us and we chatted some more while waiting for others to arrive. By 11:50pm, we figured that was it, so we headed into PotC. We missed you Kelly!!!! I kept scanning the area for two teenage girls with their parents.

We were all able to fit in the same boat, and we all looked for Hidden Mickeys together!!! It was so much fun. We should do this at Dismeets more often. Well, the ones in WDW anyways. Andrew was able to spot the HM in Davy Jones' hat when none of us were able to. I'm pretty sure we were able to find all of the HMs on this ride.

Do you remember that Andrew asked me earlier in the day whether he would get wet on PotC or not? Well, I told him no, but on THIS particular ride, he was sitting on the far left and a cannon went BOOM!! And SPLASH!! Andrew gets wet, again. :rotfl2::rotfl2: I really shouldn't promise him anything on rides that have water in it.

After the ride, Kandace parted ways with us after taking a group shot.
DSC_0752.jpg

I was wearing my new top from Tren-D.

Karin and Tom led us to Aloha Isle (cause I couldn't find it earlier) and bought a dole whip float for Andrew and I with a snack credit!
DSC00560.jpg

We spent a good amount of time just chatting and talking about our trips and about Paris and their dinner at Cali Grill. It was so nice to finally meet her in person! We had a great time talking about all sorts of things. They recommended that we go on the Jungle Cruise cause it's MUCH better at night. Around 1am, we went our separate ways. Karin gave me a Paris Disneyland pin that I LOVE. Every time I look at it, I'm instantly reminded of my trip and I always smile. :cloud9:

My first Dismeet was great and I can't wait for more! I DO kick myself for not taking a photo of Karin and Tom or WITH them. I'm not sure what I was thinking! I can't wait to meet with you again!

I decided to not keep any notes past this point in the....morning(?) because it was too dark. I only wrote down the rides I went on, so I guess I'll go from there?

We went on Jungle Cruise because it was right across from Aloha Isle. We had a great time! Much better skipper this time, with a real gun prop! She was incredibly good and so funny. It was the same lines we heard earlier, but delivered MUCH better. At the very end of the ride, she said, "I really loved having you all, but now you have to GET OUT. I know this is a family-oriented park but seriously....get out." Oh my gosh, so funny. You had to be there.

One of the rides that I HAD to go on during my trip was.....Aladdin's Magic Carpets!!! Yes, that kiddy ride. The line was empty so we hopped right onto a carpet with no one behind us. Since the front and the back controlled different things, Andrew had one hand on the back knobs and I controlled the front. It was a lot of fun. We got spit on! 3 times!!! Definitely did not expect that. Can't wait to go again.

One ride we HAD to do at night was The Haunted Mansion of course. Is this picture more scary?
DSC00561.jpg

It was another great ride. Our hitchhiking ghost had his arm propped up on Andrew's shoulder!

We wanted to go on BTMRR, but the line was 20mins, so we just sat on the rocking chairs outside of HM. My dogs were barking again. Lesson number 15. Wear more comfortable footwear.

We wandered into Fantasyland, hoping to get on PP but had to get a ride on the carousel first. I found Cinderella's horse, but a CM was showing it to a little girl, so I let her have it. NEXT TIME, Gadget!

The line for PP was 30 mins!! I had really hoped to get on PP this trip, but I guess not....We went on Snow White instead. That rides kind of scares me. It probably shouldn't...but it does. The movie scared me so badly when I was a little kid. Ok, it still does, just like with Pinocchio. Why is Snow White my favourite princess?

Andrew was actually very impressed with Snow White. I can't remember why.

We walked through Cindy's castle to head back to Main Street. I didn't even KNOW you could do that on my first trip, so it was very exciting. Main Street looks GORGEOUS.
DSC00562.jpg

Ahhh, what I wouldn't give to be walking down Main Street USA tonight....Since my feet could take no more punishment, we headed back to Pop at 2:45am. Not quite 3am, but we'll get there on another trip.

Lesson number 16. MK needs at least 2 days to tour comfortably.

Coming up next: Sleeping in till NOON

But the 3-day cruises don't have the Pirate parties....Pirate's League at MK anyone? I hope they keep the mermaid package cause it's SO PRETTY!

I like your thinking !!!!!!

Me too!

Now, that's a plan I can get behind. :thumbsup2 Although, I have a feeling I'd still spend those 3 days wishing I stayed at WDW. I'm not good at sitting back and relaxing when I know that I could be running around like a crazy person at WDW.

OH MY GOSH. When I heard that they were starting the Mermaid package, I flipped and was all "I NEED TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT!" But, of course, the trial run ends the day before I'm gonna be at the Magic Kingdom. Siiiiigh. Hopefully, they'll bring it back at some point. *Fingers crossed*

Now, onto your update...

You deserve major props for lasting until 4:30 pm in the sun. I tend to start melting down around 3:00. That summer heat/sun/humidity is insane! If I went in the fall/winter/spring, I could definitely last all day without a break (and I did during my lone April trip), but in the summer, there is absolutely no way I could stay in the parks all day. I would be miserable.

I LOVED walking out to the bus stop that late at night. The temperature was PERFECT. I miss Florida and their warm nights in the summer.
Agreed. I've been missing those warm, but not too warm, Florida nights so badly lately. Thank goodness that will change in a little over a week! ;)

I LOVE the posters in the Philharmagic queue. The Wheezy one is my favorite. Wheezy doesn't get nearly as much love as he deserves.

You're so sweet for bringing those glowsticks to share with other guests. And for giving your Pirate Medallion to that little boy. I'm sure you turned his night around. :)

I feel like I ALWAYS get wet on Pirates of the Caribbean. It's getting a bit ridiculous. :rotfl:

Mmmmm that Dole Whip Float looks delicious. I don't know what it is about me...I'm not really a big pineapple fan, but every time I see someone with a Dole Whip Float I immediately think "OMG THAT LOOKS SO REFRESHING!" I think this year I'm gonna stop wondering if they really are that refreshing and try one for myself.

Oh, Main Street at night....Siiiiiiigh.....:cloud9:
