Lesson learned. Need more days in Disney!!! Aug 2010 (NEW 1/20-COMPLETE)

There is nothing WRONG with Pop, just not for everyone. When it was just Mom and I it was fine but with four of us it was so cramped. I can also understand if a person is planning on spending lots of time at the resort hanging out at the pool etc. they may not like the theme.

LOL I could have used the nap advice on my solo trip. Not that I ever listen to anyone. Because I had no one with me to "drag me down" (i.e. people who don't want to tour the parks from 7a.m. until the last one closes) I just didn't stop and I was so tired the entire time. I would literally go on Test Track just to wake up.

People who don't like Pop Century are mentally ill. That is the only explanation.

You are absolutely right about needing to fit breaks in. As I learned from that trip after I finally gave in and took a 4 hour nap my 2nd to last day, rested-Disney is better than falling-asleep-in-line-to-buy-more-Cheddar-Cheese Soup-Disney.

That was SO kind of you to buy those glowsticks and hand them out! I love how you can do that at Disney and people just take it as an act of kindness and don't think you're insane. I saw a show once where someone did an experiment in NYC trying to give free money to people, and almost no one took it because they were too suspicious LOL!

I love the Hidden Gems thing! There are also some threads on the Theme Parks board here about that, but they call them "WDW Secrets". I have found so many cool things from there!

Aw I love Casey's. Have you been to the back room there with the sports-themed Disney cartoons playing? There's barely anyone ever back there, so it's a nice little getaway.

You know what's funny? I didn't even know about the hidden gem of that old fashioned phone, but on our last trip when we were in there, I picked the receiver up and listened anyway just because it's Disney and I figured there'd be someone there, haha! So fun.

I can't believe the wait at Peter Pan was still 30 mins that late! Summer at WDW is nuts. I can't wait to write about our last night at WDW in my TR, because we had the MK almost to ourselves. It was insane, one of the most fun times I have ever had in my life. Sounds like you had an amazing EMH MK night anyway, crowds and all!

Now, that's a plan I can get behind. Although, I have a feeling I'd still spend those 3 days wishing I stayed at WDW. I'm not good at sitting back and relaxing when I know that I could be running around like a crazy person at WDW.

OH MY GOSH. When I heard that they were starting the Mermaid package, I flipped and was all "I NEED TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT!" But, of course, the trial run ends the day before I'm gonna be at the Magic Kingdom. Siiiiigh. Hopefully, they'll bring it back at some point. *Fingers crossed*

Now, onto your update...

You deserve major props for lasting until 4:30 pm in the sun. I tend to start melting down around 3:00. That summer heat/sun/humidity is insane! If I went in the fall/winter/spring, I could definitely last all day without a break (and I did during my lone April trip), but in the summer, there is absolutely no way I could stay in the parks all day. I would be miserable.

I LOVED walking out to the bus stop that late at night. The temperature was PERFECT. I miss Florida and their warm nights in the summer.
Agreed. I've been missing those warm, but not too warm, Florida nights so badly lately. Thank goodness that will change in a little over a week!

I LOVE the posters in the Philharmagic queue. The Wheezy one is my favorite. Wheezy doesn't get nearly as much love as he deserves.

You're so sweet for bringing those glowsticks to share with other guests. And for giving your Pirate Medallion to that little boy. I'm sure you turned his night around.

I feel like I ALWAYS get wet on Pirates of the Caribbean. It's getting a bit ridiculous.

Mmmmm that Dole Whip Float looks delicious. I don't know what it is about me...I'm not really a big pineapple fan, but every time I see someone with a Dole Whip Float I immediately think "OMG THAT LOOKS SO REFRESHING!" I think this year I'm gonna stop wondering if they really are that refreshing and try one for myself.

I hear the mermaid package is really popular, so there's a good chance they may extend it or bring it back! I sure hope so! I've also been really tempted to buy the 4-pack of Pirates OPI polish just cause it's PotC.

I think I was melting by 2:30pm, but I HAD to do Monster's Inc cause it wasn't open during EMH. Also needed to do CoP before I left. That frozen lemonade I bought pretty much saved me till 4:30pm.

Awww, you'll be able to experience those nice Florida summer nights again. Soak it all in!

Yeah, the Wheezy one is SO CUTE. It's always been one of my faves.

I love giving stuff out to kids I think I'll be buying 2-3 tubes of the stuff for my next trip, for Illuminations kids too. It was only $2 for a tube of 12!
They also make awesome bracelets of course, if I have any leftover.

Yes, you must try a dole whip float. Or maybe get the orange flavoured one? Dole whips are great cause neither Andrew nor I are very lactose tolerant. He also loves pineapple juice, so it's a win-win.

Yeah, a nap would be great for eve EMH's, especially MK's cause it's the one that stays open the longest? It's just so refreshing to come back for a rest and then just stroll into MK in the evening.

Yeah, Pop would probably be really cramped for the 4 of you! For 2 people, I think it's great. We had two beds in our room and used the other bed as an extra table!

Yeah...I do understand people not liking the theming, but for me...it wouldn't make my vacation worse you know? I'm at DISNEY afterall.

I love the phone in the hatshop (not even going to attempt to spell that one ). When Casey an I went, we heard some lady arguing with a man about the price of ham, it was hilarious!!!

Aaah, the dismeet! I still havn't told you that story have I? Long story short, you heard the story about how someone threw up in the HM line. It took a while to be cleaned up, and the line got backed up. We thought we had more time then we really did, so we stayed in line. Once we got off, we realized how late it was, and ran to Adventureland, but we seemed to have missed you all Someday, Yuki, you and I will most deffinetly meet in person!

Can't wait to read on once I get home from WDW (leaving on a 6 AM flight tomorrow! Yay for waking up at three!)

Oh my gosh, that Little Mermaid stuff is SO CUUTE!!!!!!! I want the mermaid magnet. That hoodie looks sooo cool. I wonder if the NY Times Square store might have it...Probably not huh? It sucks that TLM musical isn't on anymore.

Yeah, I can understand feeling like there's no one to drag you down. I've considered a solo trip and I think I would take it REAL SLOW. Like....stop to look at every little thing and taking as long of a break as I want, because I sometimes feel like I'M the one dragging others down, which is why I go commando! Does that make sense....It's like...reverse....something or another.

I think if I were tired, not even Test Track could wake me up. I have a season pass to my closest Cedar Fair park and I was falling asleep on the coasters. Like, too tired to even scream.

Haha, I like that mentally ill explanation. We should treat them by forcing them to stay in a Pop room.

Oh yeah, I remember that 4-hour collapse of yours. Are the lines for the soup that long???

Yeah, it's great that at Disney, it's pixie dust! Everywhere else, it's "poison" or a scam. Well....except for Chinese people.....we like to take whatever free things we can get! Which is how my mom once accidentally sent me to pick up condoms during a new year's eve party downtown....She thought they were giving out candy.

I would probably pay for someone's entire trip if they couldn't afford it before I'd go alone. It was just too lonely!

Oh, I almost forgot! A few months before my trip, one of the things I had planned to bring to MK were glow sticks! I remembered from my last trip how badly those little children coveted those glowy-type spinny thingys at the beginning of the parade and Wishes and decided to bring my own to hand out to them!

My friends said it's only ok cause I'm a cute little Asian girl and not a creepy old white man.

Note to self: have a cute little Asian girl hand out my glow sticks for me.

So, we layered the nachoes with cheese, jalapenos and salsa. Ta dah!

He also grabbed a few cups of cheese for himself....Bad idea...
