Lesson learned. Need more days in Disney!!! Aug 2010 (NEW 1/20-COMPLETE)

Haha, I loved you got tipsy in Epcot! I once got a little drunk after drinking the lapu lapu at Kona- I couldn't finish it because it was too strong for me. I walked around MK like this :faint: for a while. Lol.

Duffy McDuff is so cute! I had no idea who he was until the thread about the new Duffy meet and greet popped up on the Dis.

Great update Yuki !!!I have been so busy since getting back !!!I am off again to Albany on Thursday for work !!!I loved the Drunk tale and Mc Duffy!!!

Oh, welcome home! The drunk tale continues, kind of....not as drunk though. :p

Hahahaha, wow, that Lapu Lapu sounds like good stuff! I think I'll bring up my tolerance before my next trip to Epcot. I really want to try more drinks!

I knew about Duffy since an article in Allears about him in Toyko Disneyland. I've been wanting a Duffy since! I'm so glad they brought him back to North America.

So my best friend Anndrea just came home a week ago from WDW. I didn't realize until a couple of days before she was leaving that she was going to be there for the Food and Wine Festival!

I told her that if she came home without trying the cheddar cheese soup at the Canadian booth, I would slap her. Seriously. So of course, that was the first thing she tried.

SHE LOVED IT!!! I'm super glad she did. I've still never had it, but I can kind of imagine it. She came home and wanted to make it herself. So this past weekend, I went over to her place and we made the soup together per Allears' recipe.

Here are all the ingredients all laid out. Sans the celery cause I'm allergic.
etcetera029.jpg

Andrew was cutting up chicken bacon pieces (her DBF didn't eat pork), I was chopping up the carrots into little bitty pieces, and her DBF was grating the cheese.
etcetera031.jpg

The recipe called for white cheddar, but she couldn't find any, so she got mozza instead. I'm not sure if there was much of a diff since I've never had Le Cellier's soup.

I'm cooking up the veggies and bacon in the huge pot!

Anndrea hates onions, but she doesn't mind it at all in this soup! She's the type to pick out every little piece of onion if there's any in her fried rice, it's crazy. Ahh, the power of cheese soup.

Et voila! I cooked up the soup while she made sandwiches for us.
etcetera035.jpg

Of course, I can't forget the Canadian thumbs up.
etcetera037.jpg

The soup was really yummy. It got burnt a bit, so that flavour seeped through, but over all, it was a very yummy soup. It was interesting that it was the consistency of potato soup! I definitely liked the chewy bits of veggies and bacon in it, but I hear Le Cellier's soup is much smoother.

Here's our two Duffys hanging out. McDuff is the naked one. How appropriate for her Duffy to be in the Canadian outfit while we made the Canadian cheese soup.

And here's us with our Duffys.

We're definitely going to give it another try and hopefully it won't be burnt this time.

Has any of you ever tried out the Disney recipes? How'd they turn out?

Thanks for sharing your domestic side with us Yuki!

I've made the carrot ginger soup from Boma a number of times (yes me, not my wife, 'cause she doesn't really care for it) and it turns out great. I've actually started to tweak the recipe because I think it's a little too bitey with the amount of ginger they have you use. But anyway, it's actually really easy.

I've only had Cheese soup once and it was delish!!!

I can't wait to try it one day!

I'm actually very domestic. I have this thing where I'm convinced that my parents raised me to be a house wife. I can cook, bake, clean, iron, do laundry, knit, sew, and take care of babies (ie. feed and change diapers). :thumbsup2

Oooh, I really liked that soup from Boma. I think I'll give that a try next.

Hi Yuki! I'm finally caught up!:goodvibes I love that your day at Epcot turned out great without the touring plan! I'm a little confused about the drunk thing - a wine tasting and part of a slushy? Did I miss something? :confused3I think it was the heat. I'm glad you cooled off and got lots to drink.

How fun for you and your friends to make the cheese soup! It looks delicious. I tried some Disney recipe once, but to tell you the truth I don't remember what it was, but I do remember being disappointed in my efforts.

Looking forward to more! Come and join me on my cruise TR! pirate:

Yeah, I'm very sure it was the heat too. I can usually handle a lot more liquer before becoming delirious.

I can't wait to try more recipes! I'm also really happy she enjoyed WDW cause it was her first trip. I typed up about 6-7 pages of tips for her :rotfl:

Already there!

you go girl! :thumbsup2

I wish I could cook. I enjoy reading cookbooks and love watching the Food Network but it just doesn't translate into real life. I can bake though! Lol ;)

I love your bow headband by the way, it's so cute!

I love the Food Network! One thing I haven't really tried is BBQ-ing, but I love License to Grill.

And thanks about my headband! I'm OBSESSED with these. I wear one every day and have a drawer full of them. There are so many cute ones!

McDuff Stuff #1

I really want to share McDuff, so I'll be writing up these small updates about what he's up to and what he's wearing!!

I went to Build-A-Bear today and bought him a pair of cargo pants. So he can look just like his dad cause Andrew loves cargo pants.

Here's a front view.

Here's a back view. There's a hole in the back for his tail! :lovestruc

And here's a full body. Does anyone recognize the magazine to the left?

The pockets can actually hold stuff! Why do women's clothing have fake pockets? I'm so frustrated when I buy a top of bottom with pockets, but they're not real. They're just for decoration. On the other hand, I'm always pleasantly surprised when some clothes have HIDDEN pockets, which are awesome.

The clothes at the store are surprisingly affordable! I could've bought McDuff an Ironman costume for $17 CAD!!!

I saw many very cute items of clothing for $10, including the pants I bought him. They even have ipods for bears!!! Oh, the accessories. I saw a hat and scarf combo that looked nice, but McDuff already has the scarf I made him, I only want the winter hat.

All pictures of him are taken with my cell phone camera. I've been bringing him to class and to the mall with me. Little kids look at me with GREAT jealousy.

I love the Imagineering Field Guides! I bought the MK and Epcot one like, a year ago. I didn't get AK because I hadn't been there in so long, so I figured I wouldn't really appreciate it. And then I have to get DHS because at that time, it still wasn't published yet.

How funny that Andrew actually liked the Beverly! I don't think it's SO disgusting. I think it's because there are bitter things in the Chinese diet. It's not something I'd WANT to drink though! Once was enough!

Yum, those fish and chips are making me drool! Have you tried it at Columbia Harbour House? Are the ones you had better?

Cute! i've seen the hopscotch thing before, but this is the first time I've seen the characters drawn around it in chalk too. Adorable!

I have a Little Mmiss Chatterbox mouse pad! Haha, except I bought mine for $1 at Target.

Oh cool! I like that background information you gave about your name! Did your mom care that you gave yourself a name that sounds Japanese?

Haha, love how your Duffy has sillybandz on! I wanted to get a bear to dress up (Build a Bear or Duffy), but I bought a small Mickey instead. Of course, I can't actually take the clothes off that he has on to put something else on. I also can't buy much else because he's rather small, but it's easier for me to travel with him. I did find a small outfit at Build a Bear for him because they came out with a different line of smaller plushies. Anyway, Mickey was the mascot of my April trip, and he'll be the mascot again for my upcoming February trip.

Okay, that is just adorable! :cutie:

I know! I always check first and if something has fake pockets I usually don't buy it, b/c it bothers me  Some women's dress pants have pockets but they're the kind you have to cut open yourself. I don't get why they do that. :confused3

My cousin made the cheese soup a few weeks ago. I'll get on Facebook tomorrow and see if I can find it. :)

I LOOOOOOOVE sonic. I so lucky I live right next to one. Huge diet cokes in styrofoam cups and crushed ice. My FAV! Can't wait to read more. :)

I love the new duds for Duffy! So cool that BAB clothes fit him! They really get crazy with all of the accessories - just cha-ching for them when they get people who get a little carried away. :hippie:

I was debating whether I should get MK or not. I'm not totally in love with it yet, so maybe I should give it time?

I didn't think it was going to be that bad either! I lowered my guards and everything. I mean, I LOVE bitter melon. But the Bev? I just couldn't take it.

Yum, those fish and chips are making me drool! Have you tried it at Columbia Harbour House? Are the ones you had better?

I haven't had the CHH ones. I really need to! It's on my list for my next trip for sures.

Cute! i've seen the hopscotch thing before, but this is the first time I've seen the characters drawn around it in chalk too. Adorable!

I knew CMs did this, but it's my first time seeing it! I had to play a game myself of course.

I have a Little Mmiss Chatterbox mouse pad! Haha, except I bought mine for $1 at Target.

I don't even use mousepads anymore.....

Oh cool! I like that background information you gave about your name! Did your mom care that you gave yourself a name that sounds Japanese?

They're actually not as against it as you would think. They honestly didn't care much. It was a "it's up to you" moment between us. My family does have a bit of trouble saying it though....

Oooh, I saw the smaller animals and their clothes! I kinda want one cause they're more portable with Duffy. Dressing up Mickey must be so cute!

Okay, that is just adorable! :cutie:

I know right???? I didn't even notice it when I bought it~!

I know! I always check first and if something has fake pockets I usually don't buy it, b/c it bothers me  Some women's dress pants have pockets but they're the kind you have to cut open yourself. I don't get why they do that. :confused3

Yeah....I just bought a jacket that I thought didn't have pockets, but actually have the ones you have the cut open....so weird....

My cousin made the cheese soup a few weeks ago. I'll get on Facebook tomorrow and see if I can find it. :)

Mmmmm, I wanna make the cheese soup again.

I LOOOOOOOVE sonic. I so lucky I live right next to one. Huge diet cokes in styrofoam cups and crushed ice. My FAV! Can't wait to read more. :)

Aw man, I really want to try Sonics! And :welcome:

I love the new duds for Duffy! So cool that BAB clothes fit him! They really get crazy with all of the accessories - just cha-ching for them when they get people who get a little carried away. :hippie:

The ear holes don't fit as well. I think Duffy has a slightly bigger head than the BAB animals, but everything has no problem fitting.

Ehem.....I'm so gone already. They've got me hooked. I just bought him some new clothes over the weekend....:rolleyes1

I just had this whole Halloween update ready for y'all, but for some reason, the DIS logged me out right before I hit "submit", so I lost everything....

Frankly, I don't feel like re-typing it up right now.

On brighter news, it's my birthday today! I'm wearing a tiara and a birthday button. Almost feels like I'm in WDW where EVERYONE wishes you a happy birthday. I have work till 9:30pm, so there won't be any celebrating today. My tiara makes me feel like a princess:
