Lesson learned. Need more days in Disney!!! Aug 2010 (NEW 1/20-COMPLETE)

Great Update Yuki !!!So excited you are coming onnthe 18th!!! We have to make more definate plans !!!I have a feeling my twin Grandaughters (15) will want to join us as they LOVE the Mall!!!A frequent call I get is pick us up at the Giant Screen Gram!!! You will see it on the 18th!!

Yes, we need to make more plans. I'm thinking of an afternoon meet with a dinner maybe?

Loved the update, Yuki! I confess we always skip the American part too - we can get that here. You got lots of Germany and Italy that we never really get to. I don't even remember that Pizza place. I'll have to look it up. I'm glad you finished up with such a good day, and school bread makes it worth the trek!:thumbsup2

A Rosie-Yuki Meet? Sounds like a crazy time - take lots of pics!

Haha, I guess living in America, that pavilion isn't all that popular either. Via Napoli is Italy opened up just before our trip there. It's really new, but I hear it's really good.

I don't remember a whole lot of Germany....I didn't even see the teddy bears!

Yes, school bread is very worth it. The sandwiches we got were very good too.

A Niagara Falls meet! There WILL be lots of pictures!

I have yet to stop by the American pavillion either. I want to just once though, so I can say I did it all! ;)

Mmm mustard! I LOVE mustard. I could put some on a slice of bread and eat it

Haha, I might do that just once too.

I can eat Gulden's by itself. Just squirt some in my mouth.

Of course he does, he is a Queen's Engineer! :lmao: I think they take a class in drinking.

:lmao::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2: Oh, you crack me up!!!! It's SOOOOO TRUE! He's a Queen's Engineer afterall.

Chapter 10b. Day 2 pt.5- Which one do I pick???

Being the forgetful klutz that I am, I left out one whole part! So let's back track a bit. For those of you who have just joined us, ignore those first sentences.

Unfortunately, this update will be sparse on the pictures, but heavy on the stories you all love to hear from me!

After enjoying our kakigori, we headed into Mitsukoshi to check it out. I had no idea it was so big! It was also very crowded in there.

There was a lot to look at and it all made me VERY HAPPY. I had a mission in this store. I knew I wanted to get a pearl for myself, as well as some souvenirs for my brother and baby cousins.

For most Asians, it's customary to bring back souvenirs of your travels to give to your family and friends. I've been doing this for as long as I can remember. Before I leave on a trip, I always ask around to see what they would like me to bring back for them. There's a lesson to be learned from this, so keep it in mind.

First thing I did was go over to the pearl tanks. A lot of people were gathered around, but nobody was picking a pearl! I payed for my ticket, and went around the tanks to choose an oyster. It wasn't easy cause people were just standing around there.....Seriously folks, if you're not paying for it, please make way for those of us who are.

From the Dis, I learned to pick the hairiest ugliest oyster I could find. It was harder than I thought, not because they all kind of look the same, but because of the gushing stream of water they pour into the tanks. My view was very distorted because of those streams and I could barely see if the oysters even had hair on it. The CM held a paddle to the stream to stop it from obstructing my view, but it didn't do much.

After I finally settled on the ugliest thing I could find, the CM cracked it open and.......it's pink! I got a pink-ish pearl! 7.25mm. Larger than average, but nothing to brag about really.

SSPX0174.jpg

Ta dah!

It's definitely really cute. I've seen the settings online and took a look at the at the store. I was told I could easily get these settings on ebay for less. So for those reasons. I decided not to buy a setting. There's a lesson to be learned here too.

After getting my pearl, I did more browsing through the store. I knew my baby cousins (hardly babies, they're in gr.2) loved Pokemon, so I decided to buy them those adorable little Pokemon plushies. It was SO HARD TO CHOOSE! They were all adorable. I tried to pick 2 of around the same size and guessed which ones they might like. In the end. I grabbed a Hoho and the one that looks like a dog bandit. I wanted to buy some for myself too but I really have TOO MANY stuffed things and no place to put them.

I knew my little brother likes Domo-kun. That rectangular brown monster with his mouth wide open. His cartoons are adorable! The store had a stand full of stuff. Since he was going to be in University in the Fall, I bought him a Domo lanyard to carry his student card on. He loved it btw.

One of my favourite parts of the store is the back wall near the register full of 3D puzzles! Andrew and I are both a big fan of puzzles. Not those 5000 piece ones, but like.....3D puzzles, rope puzzles....mind bender stuff. When we saw those Japanese 3D puzzles.....we went bug eyed. We knew we had to get one.

There were so many! There was a rose one that looked pretty. And an apple one that looked really nice. And Andrew really liked the treasure chest. But when he saw the star one, he knew I had to get that. Stars are my favourite shape. They're kinda my thing. I have tons of star-shaped stuff, as well as stars on stuff. I just really like stars. So the star puzzle it is!

Another part of the store I liked were the artbooks of classic animated movies. Totoro is a fan-favourite, and I really loved "The Cat's Return". We knew we could easily get these elsewhere, so we just skimmed through some and didn't buy any.

I knew I had to check out the Hello Kitty section. She was my obsession when I was a little girl. I decorated a shoebox with pink tissue paper and turned it into my Hello Kitty box. I would put little HK things in there like erasers and pencils and stickers that I got as gifts. It was my treasure box and I would dream of the day when I could have more than just a small box of HK stuff!! Well...that dream never came true. I still like HK though.

We didn't get anything cause it's too easy to find this stuff in Toronto. We also saw some nice anime shirts, but most of them were in boy sizes.

In conclusion, I've decided to make it a tradition to buy a new puzzle in this store on every trip. They're so much fun and look really nice. It's become one of my must-have souvenirs of WDW.

What a great picture of you and Andrew in front of Spaceship Earth! I love the pearl. It's bigger than mine was *pout* but really pretty! Did you end up finding a good setting for it? Bubba suckered me into buying a setting when we were there so I paid full price! Oh well. I'm glad you finally tried school bread! :thumbsup2

I love the pink pearls! Waiting to see what the lesson about the setting was? :confused3

Great update (and a big one too!) Yuki. I laughed out loud at your mustard story: 1) that you got so worked up over it, 2) that you grabbed a few more packets for later, and 3) that you weren't sure if it was just the alcohol talking. :rotfl2:

I had school bread for the first time this summer too and liked it also.

I think your photopass picture is really nice.

You'll learn the lesson about the pearl soon enough....

Everybody seems to like my PP picture but I'm just not a fan....

My pearl is bigger than yours? I can't remember how big yours was.....

I LOVED the custard in the school bread. Mmmm....I can almost taste it right now...

I love the pink pearls! Waiting to see what the lesson about the setting was? :confused3

I'm so happy I got a pink one too! I want to try again to see if I can get other colours....

3 updates on one page! It's so full.

Mmmmm, mustard....ahh adventures of being drunk at WDW. I'll be updating my Niagara Falls trip now that I've revealed the reason I decided to cross the border.

School bread is yummy! I'm so glad I got to try it. I'm not sure if my feet can say the same thing though.....

Hi Yuki, Found your TR and I LOVE it! It's so geeky and awesome!!!! I laughed so hard at the OVER NINE THOUSAND reference while you where at Sum of All Fears. Can't wait to hear more.:yay:

Another geek! YAAAAY!!! :cool1:

:welcome:

I'm so happy SOMEBODY got the reference.

Now I GOTTA check out your PTR.

Sorry I was way behind, but thanks to your handy-dandy links I'm caught up.

I'm loving the report! I think I have said it before, but I'm saying it again you remind me of my son and his wife. They like a lot of the same things you do. Japan is their favorite country in WS too. He's 25 and she'll be 25 in January.

Can't wait for your next update.

Hooray for my handy links! I cleaned up the contents page to look less hectic. It's a lot easier on the eyes now.

And yes, you HAVE said it, but I don't mind hearing about it again. Your son and his wife aren't that much older than Andrew and I!

I just LOVE Mitsukoshi, so much to go through! Makes me want to spend all my money there :rolleyes1

I hope to have an update for my mini tr up soon.

Ok, so this past weekend, I met up with a friend and we went to a place called Just Desserts. I've always wanted to try this place out. I mean.....they serve like, a bajillion different kinds of desserts.

So, in true Dis fashion, I took pictures of mine and my friend's food. Andrew came along too.

My friend ordered the Oero Caramel Explosion
SSPX0252.jpg

She enjoyed it a lot.

Andrew ordered the Peanut butter and caramel cheese cake
SSPX0251.jpg

I remember him telling me it was very nice and soft.

I ordered a Chocolate Pecan Pie and got this...
SSPX0253.jpg

Um....it looks like a cake to me.....For all purposes, it was a cake. There was no crust of any sort, and it was served cold. It was also filled with fudge, as opposed to the pecan filling I'm used to. It wasn't easy to eat and it was TOO SWEET for me.

In the end, it was all very yummy. I ordered a big cup of Camomile tea to help the sugar go down. We loved the decorations on the plates! Mine came with bugs, but they were the yummiest bugs I've ever had.

So since I'm on the topic of showing pictures, I took some photos of my birthday to show everybody. I go to school in a town about 1.5hrs away from home. My family surprised me by showing up at my place! It was after my work shift ended around 9pm too. They came all the way here without eating dinner, on a Wednesday night too!

Most places were closed by then, but luckily, an East Side Mario's were still open! Sorry guys, no food porn this time. Just pictures of my awesome family.

My two younger siblings. My baby brother is already in University!
SSPX0239.jpg

My little sister with McDuff! Yes, I brought him to work and out to dinner with me.....I even grabbed him his own chair.
SSPX0242.jpg

My wonderful parents, Mary and Joseph. Yes, those names are for real.
SSPX0240.jpg

My mommy and I!
SSPX0241.jpg

I wore a tiara cause I wanted to feel like a princess on my birthday, since I wasn't really planning on doing anything special that day anyways.

Plus McDuff and the button I wore that said "Birthday Girl" so everyone would know it was my special day.
SSPX0243.jpg

And the lovely cake that they brought me. Mango and chocolate mousse, YUM!!!
SSPX0244.jpg

Sorry for the picture quality but these were all taken on my cell phone and in the dim lighting at the restaurant.

Apparently my dad was upset I didn't get a picture with HIM. Sorry daddy!

And to top this all off, a picture of ducks under the bridge I cross on campus to get to my classes.
SSPX0254.jpg

If you're wondering why I took that shot, it's because I love watching them in the water, and the reminded me of the ducks at WDW.

As our friend Tigger would say TTFN!!

Aw, how nice of your family to come and surprise you!

They even tricked me into thinking I should be expecting someone else to deliver me the cake they got me! So imagine my surprise when I pull up on the driveway and see my BABY BROTHER on the porch! Seriously, I was so excited.

The first thing I asked him, "Where's the family?" and he points them out to me, parked across the street. Apparently, he was supposed to make up a big story about why he was there, but he caved under my pressure.

First of all

:bday:party:

WooHoo!

So sweet that your family surprised you! :lovestruc I love Mc Duffy BTW. He's too cute!

Also just a little side note: My Aunt and Uncle's names are there same as your parents accept in spanish. Maria and Jose! I just thought that was sort of a funny coincidence.

The Duckies are cute too. I went to college in Downtown Chicago so all we got to look at was the bums panhandling for change. :sad2: I mean to write a huge post and comment on your trip so far. Darn you busy time at work, I shakes my fist at you. ::shakes fist::

Ok so now I’m going to write a hugely long post in your TR.

You and Andrew are really cute!

Hey you guys had your layover in my neck of the woods. I live about 45 minutes from O’hare and ACEN is actually right in that general area. The convention center where ACEN is held is about 5 minutes from O’Hare Airport.

Sonic- There are NO sonics in the Chicago area, the closest one is down state about 2 hours away. :sad2:

O’hare is huge, it’s one of the biggest airports in the US.

It was so adorable how you marveled at all the stuff we have in the US that you guys don’t get in Canada. Like the Annie Anne’s pretzels. We have those at the mall, so I eat them all the time. It’s so sad that you don’t have those. They are delish!

Love your “All fired up” shirt with the dinosaur! And your RAWR face it awesome too!

I LOVE your stitch wallet!

Pop looks amazing. I really want to stay there.

The picture of the mom and the two kids made me laugh. They look SO happy to me there don’t they?
:sad2:

ECPOT! I heart ECPOT so much. SQUEE!!

Yet another TR with Sunshine Seasons. I think this is the 5th or 6th TR I’ve read where people eat at this place. I’m going to have to check it out for sure. Must be good if so many, many DIS’ers eat there.

I haven’t been to ECPOT since Mission Space opened but that big rotating thing reminds me of an huge arch reactor from Iron Man.

Lol at the Jordan Pic with the tongues out. Jordan is so cool.

Also you’ve inspired me to pick up the Unoffical Guide to Disney World for my trip. I bought on when I went to Vegas (the vegas one of course. Lol) I probably would have been wandering around the strip aimlessly without it. So I that will be a must have for my trip. Along with the Passporter that Cherie (Winkers) loves so much.

I already talked about the “over 9 thousand” reference already but OVER 9,000!!! Had to do it.:rolleyes1

I really want to make one of those Passports that you made and have the CM’s sign it for my cousin. Can you buy them there?? I think I'll just make one like you did.

I’m gonna sound like a total lush right but, I CAN’T WAIT TO DO DRINK AROUND THE WORLD!! And sure it was heat stroke Yuki, suuure it was. I’m a total light weight so, I’ll probably end up share my drinks with Steve my DBF.
I really want to check out those Anime Stars thing at the Japan Pavilion. If it weren’t for your TR I probably would have never known about it.

It was probably a good idea Andrew didn’t let you have any sake. Lol.

I’ve heard of people wearing their birthday button the “ENTIRE” time they are at Disney.

And yes that is the best mustard in the world. It tastes exceptionally good on hot dogs and ham sandwiches. The first thing I thought of when I saw the pretzel picture was: NOM NOM NOM!

YAY for peeps pictures.

The of you and Andrew in front of the “Big Golf Ball” at night is so beautiful! Awww <3:lovestruc

Yeah, it was very awesome for my family to surprise me. I kind of had a feeling they would, but then they actually tricked me into thinking otherwise! I'm pretty impressed.

I love my McDuff! Can't wait to make more stuff for him.

Oooh, what a cool coincidence! It's such a small world.

Haha, one of the reasons I chose Waterloo is because the campus is just so nice! We get all sorts of wild life here like bunnies and falcons. The Canadian geese SUCK though. We all hate them.

Awesome Family pix Yuki!!!!

Thanks Rosie!

You and Andrew are really cute!

Thanks!

Wow, that close? That's pretty convenient! I've been meaning to make a trip to Chicago. Maybe I should include ACEN in my trip!

Sonic- There are NO sonics in the Chicago area, the closest one is down state about 2 hours away. :sad2:

I guess Sonic is rare even in the States!

I
t was so adorable how you marveled at all the stuff we have in the US that you guys don’t get in Canada. Like the Annie Anne’s pretzels. We have those at the mall, so I eat them all the time. It’s so sad that you don’t have those. They are delish!

I'm such a tourist, I know. But it doesn't seem fair that we're SO CLOSE but don't get the same awesome stuff. I LOVE Auntie Annes. It's really a shame Canadians aren't big on pretzels.

Love your “All fired up” shirt with the dinosaur! And your RAWR face it awesome too!

I actually didn't notice how much I looked like the dragon till I posted it here! With my arms up and everything! I love this shirt.

I LOVE your stitch wallet!

Taiwan has such great Stitch stuff.

Pop looks amazing. I really want to stay there.

Pop is SUPER AWESOME. You should totally stay there.

Yet another TR with Sunshine Seasons. I think this is the 5th or 6th TR I’ve read where people eat at this place. I’m going to have to check it out for sure. Must be good if so many, many DIS’ers eat there.

It's like a domino effect I think. I ate there cause I read about it on so many
TRs! Everybody was telling me how good the food was, so I knew I had to give it a try. When it's not busy, it's a very pleasant place to be! Oh! You just reminded me of a story that I was going to tell about it!

I haven’t been to ECPOT since Mission Space opened but that big rotating thing reminds me of an huge arch reactor from Iron Man.

That's what Andrew thought of too!

The UG is such a great book, you learn so much! And the touring plans are just great. The best thing about the UG is even if you don't follow the touring plans, you'll still know when the popular rides will have th fewest lines. Just knowing all that about the rides is enough to make you a touring expert! I know for sure it helped so much when I was in the parks.

I liked the PP too, but it just seems to bulky for me to carry into the parks, which it's meant for. I think it's really a toss up. I don't think getting both is a good idea cause lots of stuff will be repeated. I recommend you go through them and choose the one you like best.

I already talked about the “over 9 thousand” reference already but OVER 9,000!!! Had to do it.:rolleyes1

It's ok, we're geeks. That's what geeks do.

I really want to make one of those Passports that you made and have the CM’s sign it for my cousin. Can you buy them there?? I think I'll just make one like you did.

Yes, you can buy these passports at Epcot. They also come with a bunch of stickers for you to put on your passport. I would definitely recommend making your own. Just cause it's free and you can personalize it.

It was DEFINITELY a heat stroke. In combination with getting drunk. I'm really not such a light weight!

Tha Anime pavilion was pretty cute. They had figurines and sketch panels of manga. Very nice. Nice and air conditioned and quiet too! With benches for you to rest on.

I’ve heard of people wearing their birthday button the “ENTIRE” time they are at Disney.

I can understand why some people would do that, but for people that can afford to go to WDW more often, I don't get it. It takes the whole point of the special awesomeness that you're in Disney for your actual birthday out of it!!

When we were there, we would see groups of siblings with the button on. Sure there really ARE sibs that share the same date, but really? That much? I don't think so.

And yes that is the best mustard in the world. It tastes exceptionally good on hot dogs and ham sandwiches. The first thing I thought of when I saw the pretzel picture was: NOM NOM NOM!

I eat it with rice. And wieners. And by itself. Pretty much, all the time. It's so good.

The of you and Andrew in front of the “Big Golf Ball” at night is so beautiful! Awww <3:lovestruc

Yeah, Spaceship Earth looks gorgeous in that light

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY! :cheer2::banana:

What a nice surprise! I love your tiara. Every Princess should have one. The birthday cake looks delish. Does it taste anything like the mango pie at Yak & Yeti? I had that in Feb and it was sooooo good.

Thanks Vanessa!

A couple of my friend's birthdays are coming up, so I'm thinking I'll pass the tiara around so we can ALL feel like princesses!

I've never been to Yak and Yeti, but it sounds good! The cake I got was very yummy. I generally prefer the Chinese style mousse cake to Western style mousse cause it's more jello-y than the airy. Does that make sense?
