Less than two days... What am I forgetting?

(Aside from most of my common sense, that is.)

As I've mentioned previously, I've never been one to plan stuff much in advance. I leave on Friday morning for a 3-day Disneyland trip I booked less than three weeks ago. As such, I'm kind of sorting things out at the last minute, and going without any particularly solid plans (I'm traveling solo, which gives me more flexibility on this than I might otherwise have.) Anyway, I've got the flights, hotel, and Supershuttle reserved, and still need to pick up a ticket (shouldn't be difficult, I can actually get one of those from either the local Fred Meyer or the Disney Store) but I get the sneaking suspicion I'm probably forgetting things. In the meantime, a few last-minute questions:

-Based on the weekend forecasts for Anaheim, it looks like I should be planning for warm weather when I get there (well, warm compared to the weather here anyway.) Should I keep a plan B handy? I'll probably toss a rain poncho in the bag just in case, but I'm guessing it won't be needed.

-Has anyone here used the E-Ticket iPhone app that could tell me if all the features work on an iPod Touch? If not that, any alternate recommendations?

-If I wanted to try to get in for a lunch at Cafe Orleans (I'd like to try out one of those Monte Cristos I keep hearing about) would I have needed to book priority seating three months ago, or is a walk-in doable for one person?

-Assuming no flight or shuttle delays, I should be making it into the park probably around 10:30am on Friday. At some point I'll need to take a break for hotel checkin and possibly a bit of downtime, but after that will probably be remaining in the park until Disneyland's Midnight closing time. Does anyone have recommendations for a good break time? I'm staying at the Fairfield on Harbor, so a walk back to the hotel shouldn't be too bad (although I might be thinking otherwise by the time I've spent three days in the parks...)

-Finally, anyone have any clue what the heck I was thinking booking myself onto a 6:30am flight?

Your from Western WA like me- don't bother with the poncho!;) You can tell a true native from a tourist by the lack of an umbrella! Plus I think the weather's going to be fairly good, it usually is this time of year. I would bring a sweatshirt though for chilly mornings and evenings.

Cafe Orleans...I have no clue. But since you're a party of one, your chances of walking right in are much better then say, a party of 10.

I would take a break after lunch, mid day. You probably can't check into your hotel until 3pm-ish, so I would break around 2:30 and head over to the hotel. Maybe call and request an early check in and you can just go straight from the airport to the hotel to DL.

Have fun! We will be there in a little over a week, single digit dance baby!

Well, actually I'm a Seattle transplant, but don't tell anyone that. :rolleyes1 My last visit in January of 2006 included a pretty thorough drenching on one day, so I figure it can't hurt to be prepared just in case.

I figure I won't be able to check in until later in the afternoon, but I should at least be able to drop off luggage when I arrive.

Your list sounds good. I was reading yours to make sure I haven't forgotten anything in my bags :-)

Do you have the basics down? Like chargers for cell phones/ipods/camera etc? Meds (like tylenol)? Sunscreen? Sunglasses?

I've got the basics down reasonably well, but I'm almost certain I'll manage to forget something. Still trying to sort out the gadget situation (to make a long story short, I test mobile device applications for a living, and it's not unusual to see me carrying 3 or 4 smartphones, an iPad and a notebook at once.) I generally try to travel light (on my last WDW visit I tried carrying one of those little monopacks, but left it behind a couple of times, including once on TSMM) so I don't plan to have a ton of stuff. I can probably even get away with as little as my wallet, phone and a compact point-and-shoot camera in the parks if I'm close enough to the hotel (although looking at the maps, it does look like it's about a half mile walk to the hotel from the front gate, so it's not too convenient to do so.) Still haven't packed anything yet (need to do laundry first) but it should be quick to do so.

Fairfield Inn is only about a ten minute walk from the main gate (not far at all) if you need to go back to the hotel to get something. You will definitely be able to pre-check-in at FFI and drop off your luggage with the bellhop. They usually have lemonade at the lobby around 3pm so that is a good time for a break to actually check-in to your room and settle down.

As for Cafe Orleans, it would be best to make a PS (but you may even be able to do it on the day of). Just call a few hours ahead and get a seating for the time that best fits your schedule, which should be easy since you are traveling solo.

Have a great trip! :goodvibes

Well, 4:30am departure for the airport (or earlier - not sure on airport situation). So, approximately 3:00am alarm. Sounds to me like a night to stay up, watch your favorite Disney movies, get super excited for your trip, and skip going to bed! YOU'RE GOING TO DISNEYLAND!:goodvibes

- Dreams

P.S. phone, charger, camera, batteries, memory card, comfortable walking shoes, something for the evening when it gets chilly, reservation numbers, photo id, tickets, credit card. Everything else can be worked around if missing from the suitcase. :goodvibes

Being a serious night owl that does sound tempting, bur finding it just slightly impossible to sleep in any moving vehicle smaller than a cruise ship, sleeping on the plane is probably out of the question. I should probably try to get at least some sleep if I don't want to end up zonked out in the middle of POTC or something equally embarrassing.

hehe, well, ok, then, maybe get some sleep - those pirates could be mean if you fell asleep at their party.

Seriously, though, have an AMAZING time at Disneyland! :goodvibes

We always forget the most basic things- hairbrush, deoderant, cell phone chargers....

-Definitely nix the poncho! ;)

-Last month we (a party of six) had lunch at Cafe Orleans shortly after noon and had a five minute wait without reservations. You should be okay, especailly since you'll be solo.

Have a great time!!!

The Fairfield is a hop, skip and a jump across Harbor. Not far at all.

OK, I've got everything packed and ready to go (or so I think) now, and I should probably be getting some sleep since I need to be up at 4. Thanks everyone, and if anyone's interested, I'll be tweeting from the parks (Twitter username brian_lutz) over the weekend.

I always like to be prepared as one time we went by the forecast and got rained out even though there was none in the forecast. Bring the Pancho:goodvibes or the umbrella!!
