Lesley & Joseph DCL Wedding - Updated 5/8

We're from Upstate New York! I will be 33 when married, and my DF will be 37. We have one daughter and one dog, who we treat like a child! We have been together over 7 years and we always thought we would hit Vegas to elope, but a few years ago we went on our first cruise and feel in love with it!

This past Valentine's we got engaged. I was shocked, as we have been together for so long, I never thought it would happen!

welcome :wave2: I always wanted to cruise... I am looking into one for this december.. Congrats on being engaged! :woohoo:

Awesome! Sounds like so much fun!
Can't wait for more details!

When I saw the passport invitations, I fell in love with that idea. But when I saw the message in a bottle, I knew we were doing those.

While most made the boxes into "luggage" I also found that post offices were giving them a hard time from the "handle" so I opted to not do that. I was fortunate enough to be able to deliver all but 6.

This was a several day process, but I love the outcome. I made the invitation on Pages (Mac) - The wording on the invitation is from another bride over at bestdestinationwedding. com - I took a pencil to roll the paper and attached ribbon to it to be able to pull the paper out of the bottle. I attached a starfish to the ribbon for decoration. Most people attached a tag and said "pull me" ... but I liked just the starfish. I bought light brown and white sand at Hobby Lobby and mixed the two to make it a lighter colored sand, since they didn't have it in stock. I then added small shells to the bottom, which I also bought at Hobby Lobby. I then put the paper in and made sure there was enough of the ribbon left out so they could pull. I dipped the corks in a coconut fragrance to give it a nice smell. I let them dry overnight. I then placed the cork on the top of the bottle.

I also made a newsletter with information on the cruise. Since most are new to cruising, I thought this was important. I made this also on my Mac on Pages with their newsletter template. I printed it out as a brochure and wrapped thin twine to hold the pages together. It's about a 6 page booklet.

Wow congrats on the engagement, and deciding on your cruise wedding. Also your ring is a beaut for sure, regardless of the iphone picture!

I am so happy! We were able to work out a great deal with our photographer that did our engagement pictures! I am so relieved! I'd have to say a huge thanks to everyone on this board, I would have never thought it would even be an option. One thing to cross off the list!

CONGRATULATIONS! I'd love to hear more about the planning. I never thought about the cruise option.

I was really on the fence about doing these as to travel with luggage is kind of a hassle these days. I wanted to find something that would be easy to fold up for our guest as most will be flying.

I just happened to be at ON this weekend and came across these. I had two coupons and was able to score these bags for free. I thought these were cute, wish they were a different color (although I do not have set color/theme) but to me it feels caribbean with the bright colors and a touch of nautical with the anchor.

Now to decide what to fill them with ....
