What size leotards do your girls wearing 12/14 in regular clothing wear? DD10 is into the gymnastics in the Olympics and just wants one to play around in, so we're not in the habit of buying leotards for her already. I don't want to measure her (I might come up with an excuse), because I'm thinking of her birthday this month. I'm looking on eBay.

I've gotten one vote of Adult Small (at least) on another forum. The adult smalls tend to measure 23 inches long unstretched. I guess maybe I could compare that to her one piece swimsuit? Would that give me a good idea?

I'm looking for all foil so it will be most like the Olympians. It doesn't need to be skin tight, but I don't want it to droop in the crotch either. Does Adult Small sound about right for girls size 12 to 14?

It is hard to guess, really. measuring the swim suit length might work though. My DD never fit the adult small. She went straight from something smaller than the 12/14 into adult M. Her body is long, I guess. Neither her height now weight match the tag sizing, but that is what she needs. Same with tights. Needs L tights 9for the length) when she barely weights 100 pounds.

You should measure her. It depends on her torso size as well as weight.

Not sure if this will help. My DD11 wears a size 10. She is about 80 pounds. She is wearing an Adult XS. So, I would think you would want to go with a Adult Small or Medium.

We had custom leos made for our girls because they fell into a few different sizes according to their measurements. We got ours from gymdigs.com and are very please with them! They are very affordable. Our only complaints are that the fabrics that have sparkles on them (not the fabrics where the sparkles are inside the fabric) have a tendency to shed the sparkles and if you get rhinestones around the neckline they tend to come off in the wash. HTH.

I would measure her..my dd who is 10 (and wears a 10) wears a child large in one brand and a adult xs in another. I find the brand GK runs small.

I would measure her and check out Melody leotard similar sizing to GK and reasonable prices cheaper than GK.

My DD16 is a dancer not a gymnast but I think the fit is the same. You really need to measure her and then look at the online sizing charts. I have found the girth measurement to be the most important in getting a good fit. Look online for an example of how to measure girth.

my DD is 8 but wears a 7 in clothing. She is just getting in to Child Large leos, her next size will be a adult x small. This is in GK brand, so in the brand I would think you might be a adult small or med.

I agree that it varies with the brand, if you go with a name brand. I think GK runs slightly small, but I could be wrong. I get my (almost) 11 year old (she wears a size 12 top, size 10 bottom) an adult xs from flipflop leos on ebay. They have a "girth" chart there too, so maybe you could tell from a swimsuit.
