I have been looking at primes for a Nikon that I don't own yet 
I have been evaluating the 50 f1.8 or the 30 f1.4 and was worried about DOF with the 1.4. Funny thing is when using a DOF calculator at 20ft the 1.4 has a DOF of 8ft where as the 1.8 only has a DOF of 3.5ft. I did not realize that the difference in focal lenght would have that much effect.
