length of stay stroller rental

When we were there last (May '05), it did not need to be consecutive. You just tell them how many days and that is on your ticket, and they tear off a stub each day you use it. Not so sure about special ticket events, but if you are in the park before the party starts your problem is solved! And no, you are not guaranteed a stroller, which is why I heard they were doing away with the length of stay tickets. People were upset when all the strollers were gone and they had paid for a day's usage of a stroller.

Well that bites. LoL Do they refund your money for that day or do you have to keep coming back to the rental area and checking? If this happens alot I can understand how it could be a problem. You would think they would have a reserved area for those who have paid in advance. Thanks for your response PrincessTigerLily.

Disney Freaks - when we went to MNSSHP the strollers were free.

Have a good trip!

Unfortunatly, we were among the unlucky few (?) who did get their personal stroller stolen (or perhaps "borrowed" is more accurate.) It did turn up later in the lost and found, but it was NOWHERE to be found the night we "lost" it so I think someone mistook it for theirs or just decided we wouldn't mind if they borrowed it for a while. The $ wasn't the issue, it was just a cheapo umbrella stroller, but DD got tired and cranky (this was close to when we were going to head back anyway) and not having a stroller for her to get comfy in definately contributed to her one and only meltdown that trip. So even without the long term rental option, being able to show even your daily receipt to get a replacement stroller for one that is lost or stolen might be worth the cost. That being said, we will probably risk it and bring our own again this year so we have it outside the parks.

We took two umbrella strollers in January. It didn't really work out all that well for us as we always needed two of us to push the strollers. I bought the connectors but they didn't work on the strollers we had (the aforementioned Maclaren and a Kolcraft cheapo). It was also a pain lugging two strollers on the bus. On our previous trip we had brought a Sit N Stand....which doesn't really steer very well and is very bulky when folded.

Our past experiences with the double rentals has been very good. They are great for bigger kids and are very easy to push. The cost is just very high. We won't be doing this for our longer trip in September...but for our two full days next week I think its necessary for us. When we used them in the past it was mostly for longer days where dh and I wanted to do a bit more walking than the kids could handle.

Wow that would be nice. Arriving early would probably be a good thing I bet. Thanks for the heads up prplcrzy.

And my heart goes out to those who have lost a stroller. Our kids always slept well in their strollers as does our grandson now. Not having it when you need it can be the ultimate worse. Especially on a vacation.

I have NO idea about any changes, but let me explain how the system was/is.

The stroller rental place at each park has two lines. One line is a payment line. People who pay get paper tickets (and a receipt). The other line is for actual stroller pick-up. When you pick-up a stroller, the CM at that line stamps your ticket with that day's date.

If you want a multi-day rental (it's NOT a length of stay rental, I'll explain that later), you go to the payment line. You tell them how many days' rental you want. It does NOT have to be for your length-of-stay, it does not need to match the number of days on your park ticket. You can have a 10-day ticket and buy two days of rentals, and you can have a 2-day ticket and buy 10 days of rentals. You park ticket is never part of the transaction -- the stroller CMs don;t know how many days you'll be in parks, but more to the point they don't care.

OK, so let's say you're staying for 7 days and decide to buy 7 days of rentals. You get in the payment line, tell them you want to buy 7 days of rentals. They will give you a strip of 7 tickets, perforated but attached. You then go to the stroller line. The CM will stamp ONE of your tickets. You get a stroller. Before you leave the park, you return the stroller and have the option of tearing off that ticket and getting in return one Disney Dollar. OR, if you're hopping to another park, you keep the ticket, and when you go to the next park you get right into the stroller line (NOT the payment line). They will see your tickey stamped with today's date and hand you a stroller. Also, you don't have to turn in the ticket on that day. You can do what I did and amass them and trade them in all at one time at the end of your stay and get one Disney Dollar for each ticket you hand in.

One thing I wish I knew when I was there -- UNUSED TICKETS ARE FULLY REFUNDABLE.

A previous poster said it perfectly. If multi-day rentals are no longer available, the big problem won't be the lack of a discount -- it'll be the pain in the neck of having to wait in the stroller payment line every time. There were times that that line was rather lengthy, and it felt great to totally avoid it. Please don't tell me they're taking away my stroller FastPass!!!
