First, what is the DVC member discount for length of stay passes?
Second, we will be checking out no later than 7:30 a.m. to make our a.m. flight home. Is there a way to avoid buying this last day for the pass?
Thanks in advance.

If I remember correctly the discount is 10%. If I'm wrong someone will post the correct discount! ;)

When you check in and purchase the passes tell the CM that you would like to drop the last day since you're leaving early. Some members have posted that due to late arrivals and early departures they have been able to drop BOTH days which is great!! I was only allowed to drop one of the days the last time I purchased the pass. I think it's up to the hotel/CM at time of check in.

When are you going?

It's a short, but sweet trip for the girls -- my mom (the dvc owner), my sister, our close family friend and myself.
We will spend one night (Saturday, August 21) at AKL, then check in at OKW on Sunday, August 22 and leave on Wednesday the 25th. I'm actually going to work on Wednesday!:(

It's not "up to the hotel/CM" who checks you in. You can buy an UPH/length of stay for the number of days you are there, or you can drop the first day, drop the last day, or drop both the first and last day. Any way you do it, you cannot buy an UPH any later than the day after you check in.

Hope that helps!princess:

Just to confirm, we need to buy the passes once we're at the resort right? I get the impression we can't purchase them in advance from home ...

snowwhiteqt - thanks for the explaination.

However it's not a set in concrete rule about dropping both days. You will find different rules at different resorts. There have even been posts here on the board stating that some have been able to drop one and some have been able to drop both. I would love to have such a rule set that you could drop both. I was told when I checked into the Boardwalk that I could drop either the first OR the last day; not both. I'll give it a shot again on my next trip and see what I'm told. But I usually only count on dropping the last day.

hey...........we'll be at AKL for that "one night" too!! (then off to BWV til 8/30).
can't wait to eat at Boma again (YUM!!), & hoping to see lots of animals (preferably, the 4-legged kind ;) ) from the balcony on our "try a new resort" night!

LSchrow,
AKL is a wonderful resort. We love sitting by the roaring fire in the lobby with a glass of wine and swimming in the pool late at night. The hot tub is nice and secluded too. And Boma and Jiko are excellent.
Had hoped to get BCV (home) or BWV for our DVC stay but we couldn't get ressies -- looking forward to OKW though.

we were just at the dvc resorts and we did ask about the length of stay and we were told if we wanted to drop the first day or last day or both we would have to talk to the manager, they are the ones that gives the ok to drop any days.
you are leaving in the morning , im sure you wont have a problem dropping the last day, and most people with just getting in on the first day and checking in, im sure you wont have a problem dropping the first day too.

dvc members do get a discount, matter of fact tell me how many days you want to go and i will tell you the cost, i brought the list back of the prices and all you have to do is subtract 10% off the prices.

so if your staying 5 days and dropping the first day and the last day you would be buying 3 days.

and yes you buy your length of stay while you are checking in,

the cm did say as long as we were staying in the villas thru dvc.

sorry i was helping out on another post....

3 days $176 plus tax then subtract 10% off (adult price)

this includes parks, waterparks,PI,DQ and disney wide world of sports.

The OFFICIAL rules for DVC, written into the guidelines, is LOS to include day of check in AND check out. Disney is thier usual unpredictable nature usually allows one and frequently both the first and last day to be dropped. Unlike for many of the disney LOS options, there is NO requirement for the entire party to buy them.

IF it is the day of check in, you MAY drop the first and last days. If you want to go to the park that day, but not the day you check out, you can drop the last day. If you do not want to go the park that day but you do want to go to the park the day you check out, YOU MUST TELL THE CM so that they can change the date on the tickets accordingly, dropping the first day and keeping the last. Likewise, you can drop your first and last day.
On the day after you check in, you must drop the first day (obviously) and can purchase the ticket through your entire stay, including the day you check out, or have the tickets end the day before you check out.
The rules for buying UPHs do not vary by resort.
I hope the resorts aren't giving out too much conflicting info!

Here is the current wording from the website:
“Entire length of stay” refers to the actual dates of the entire stay and not the length of a specific reservation.
Here is the wording from the last published piece to the members which was the same wording on the website before it changed:
"Entire lenth of stay" includes both the day of arrival and the day of departure.
It goes on to explain that it is one day more than the number of nights of the reservation and also explains that if you check out and then back in to another unit or unit size at the same resort, that is counted as one stay for purpose of the LOS passes.

"official wording" or otherwise, what i wrote earlier is how it will work when you get to the resort....(actually works out better than the wording, so hey! :smooth: )

Sometimes yes and sometimes no, it depends on who you deal with when you check in. Generally you can drop both days the last year or two.

We have had the first and last days dropped on our last two stays, one at BW for the whole time, the other was a BW/WL stay. No problem at all.
