Anybody have experience with the Lemon Law? I'm starting to think I have a Lemon. I bought a 2007 Jeep, USED, in November. It's now in the shop for the 3rd time.

The first time it was in for 5 days. The car always thought the key was in the ingnition. Wouldn't let me lock the doors & kept beeping to remind me to take the keys. They called it faulty wiring/electrical problems.

Second time it was in the shop for 23 consecutive days. Same problems as above, but also the front & rear wipers would just randomly start going. They found more faulty wiring.

This time it's been in the shop for 5 days (so far). They haven't figured it out yet, but it sounds electrical. The car won't even start, had to be towed away.

From what I've read this sounds like a Lemon Law case.....but is the fact that I bought it used a deal-breaker? Every website I've seen says sometimes used cars are covered :confused3 What's sometimes? Oh, and I'm in PA. Are those 1-800-My-Lemon commercials legit....maybe I'll call?

Thanks!

We tried the Lemon Law. We had a brand new car, had it in the shop at least 6 times, several times very similar problems. The dealer said he'd look into it but that it had to be in the shop 3 times for the same problem. I guess the manufacturer didn't think the problem was exactly the same 3 times enough to warrant the use of the lemon law. This was all in a matter of 8 months.

Good luck.

You need to contact an attorney. The laws in PA are different from other states. If you hire an attorney make sure he/she has experience with lemon law cases. I live in WV but bought a car in OH. The OH lemon law was used. My case never went to court, because the company bought the car back.

Our trade-in was $1K and I was told in OH, if you had a trade-in on the vehicle, the company does not have to give back the trade-in value. I was lucky and the company gave us the full purchase price back.

good luck

Thank You both! Right now I'm holding off to see what they say the problem is this time. But if it's faulty wiring/electrical...I'm going to pursue this further.

I think it depends on who you buy it from and what are the conditions of the sale. For instance, if you buy a car "as is" from a private seller with full disclosure of the car's history, I don't think you would fall under the lemon law.

I bought it from the Jeep dealer ~ it's still under the original manufacturer's warranty.
