My son is a lego fanatic. He is getting close to being too old for a park like Legoland, so I would like to take him soon. When I saw that there is a park scheduled to open in Florida, I was very excited. The information I have seen says that it is opening in October 2011. Anyone have a specific date? My son's school has a fall break every October. How popular do you all think this will be? Would we be nuts to try to go the month it opens?

No specific date. Just keep hearing fall 2011. It is located in Winter Haven where Cypress Gardens use to be.

Thanks, I'll keep checking for updates. I'd like to spend a week at the beach and make this a side trip.:thumbsup2

From what I am hearing...they looking to open Oct 2011

Just checked out their website, and by the time we get there, my son will be 9yo. Even though the site says for ages 2-12, it looks like it's geared for the little kiddies. Anyone been to the Legoland in CA? Think the new park in FL will be worth the time, effort, and $?

My youngest is 6 and the oldest is 17. We are going to get annual passes for everyone, but the 17 year old. Getting dh and ds(6) the $99 pass and I'll get the one that includes parking.

I have been to Legoland CA probably 4 or 5 times. When we went I had kids (girls) who were 18 mo to 6yo our last trip. They loved it. I think there is definitely enough there to entertain a 9yo Legolover for a day. The rides are tame for the most part (a few thrillers but my 6 yo could ride all but a few) but the real attraction is the Legos. The miniland part (where they have things like the entire NY skyline, Wash DC monuments, the Las Vegas strip etc all made out of Legos) is amazing. I think there are also workshops older kids can sign up for...be sure to check the website and get there early to sign up. In addition, the waterpark area (inside Legoland, not the new Legoland waterpark they recently built) would definitely keep kids entertained for a while, just be warned that it is impossible to actually watch your child in there without getting soaked yourself!
