Lego Spybotics - info please

Are these stand alone kits? I notice they have 10 programable "secert missions". I would probably get one for each of my boys for Christmas. Their computer exceeds the minimum requirements. Will they need anything other lego items to play with these things? More importantly, are they fun for 9 & 10 yr olds? Is the Gigamesh G60, or the Shadowstrike S70 more fun? Would there battles be more interesting if both boys had the same model?

My DS has two of them. They can be used as stand-alones, or they can interact with each other. I'll get him to post some more info later.

We're in MD too...Feel free to come over and see them...and take some cute, cuddly, affectionate, clean, intelligent, FREE pet baby rats home with you!

Gee Barb - the rats sound lovely. But we still have a escaped hermit crab roaming the house. That is bad enough. If a rat were roaming around, I'd have to move.

I would love your son's thoughts on the spybots.

Me: Do you need more than one SpyBot?

DS: To get access for all the missions, you need more than one SpyBot and more than one person working with them.

Me: Which ones are the most fun?

DS: The green and blue ones are the strongest, and the purple and red are the fastest. They're all fun.

Me: Do you recommend them for 9-10 yos?

DS: I would, but even me, a 13yo, was stumped at some of the instructions so they may need help.

Me: Which is more fun, SpyBots or rats?

DS: Rats!! A SpyBot can't cuddle with you, and rats are cuter! And you don't have to program the rats, either!

Note from me: But you don't have to make sure you have two male SpyBots or risk having tons of extra little SpyBots running around!
