Lego Mindstorm... Discounts?

Just bumping this up in case anyone has heard anything. I haven't seen a Black Friday ad offering a discount but hopefully something comes up:)

I'm checking Lego.com, amazon, walmart and target (almost) every day and haven't seen it change more than .99 cents. I'll check at Barnes and Noble for black friday also and will post back anything I see. If anyone has any other recommendations of sites to check, let me know and I'll add it to my daily routine!

The price dropped on Amazon yesterday, and a few more dollars today. It's still only a 9 dollar discount but I am liking the trend:thumbsup2

I got an awesome Lego Harry potter set for 50% off last Black Friday! Wandered in around 11 and picked it up, it was great! I'm really hoping they do it again

Subbing to this thread - my oldest has talked about this since 1st grade (he's now in 7th), and participated in a Robotics boy scout merit badge this weekend and now really REALLY wants this!

Also subbing to this thread. We are in same boat, 7th grader wanting it since 1st grade.

Fingers crossed for deals.....

I did get an email yesterday for 10% off anything on Lego.com plus free shipping and a small set "gift with purchase" that brought the sum total down to 257.00. It was only good yesterday and I am hoping I didn't make an error in judgement thinking I will get a bit better of a deal if I wait.

I saw that too... I am waiting til BF, surely there will be something better. I figured if there wasn't, that wasn't that big of a discount to make me regret the risk.

For those who have it already, what sort of accessories would I need to get? I see sensors and all sorts of stuff... What would be a couple of must haves? I'd hate for him to open it and then be very limited in what he can do initially.

DS found the kit to be fairly complete and hasn't made any requests for extra sensors. He does get plenty of hands-on time through the school's FLL, so maybe that helps temper his Lego "needs"!

You have just given me an idea for a Christmas gift, however! :thumbsup2 That would be an easy item to complete!

That was my thought too. I can live with missing out on a 30 dollar discount if nothing better pops up.

As far as extras I am not doing anything but letting ds and dh play around with it and decide what they need as they go along. My understanding is that there is more than enough to do with the original set to keep them busy for awhile. Then if it becomes a real hobby we can invest in extras as it comes up.:)

Thanks, I'll just hold off then!

The 10% off on LEGO.com and in LEGO stores with free gift and free shipping, which repeats this coming Friday-Sunday, is probably the best you are going to get.

Is there a minimum purchase for the free shipping?

$49 triggers free shipping.
$99 triggers free holiday gift ($14.99 value).
$149 triggers 10% flat discount.

There will also be various things on sale for 25% off. This stacks with everything else, so these items effectively become 32.5% off if you spend $149.

From a search last year it appears that Walmart and Target got down to about 230 so I will hold out and check there first and then go for the Lego deal if that's the best I can do. I have a horrible habit of jumping on something the minute I see it and then regretting it when it gets cheaper.

Case in point ... I started the Lego Advent thread and then ended up buying it at full price:rotfl:

If you shop online, Ebates has cash back on both Lego and Target

Barnes and noble has a 30% off coupon on BF, and I don't see exclusions for Lego, but I no longer see mindstorms on their website. I'll call our local store and see if they have them in stock, but I'm not hopeful. Hopefully amazon will drop theirs again.

Good luck! I don't have one anywhere near me, and you're right.. it isn't showing up on the website. My battle plan is to check Amazon for a drop, and if not, to grab the Lego 10% off deal with the few little gifts and free shipping. Apparently it's being repeated Friday through Sunday.

The Scholastic Store.com has them on sale for $223.99 after you use a coupon "BLKFRI" . Coupon expires 11.26. Shipping is about $20.16. I haven't used this yet; just searching to see how low I can get it. You can also go thru mypoints.com and get 3 points per dollar spent.

I'm subbing here because my DS12 loves Legos... he's never asked for Mindstorm, nor can I find info on an FLL league in our area. But, this is something I think he'd really get into, so maybe we can get one started if I can get a good deal on the product. I'd much rather spend the money on something like this than on video games.
