Legally Changing Name: Have you/would you?

I took my hubby's last name when we married and I have to agree with whoever said changing it on all documents is a pain in the butt! My bank still hasn't fully switched my name, one account has been changed but the other hasn't and this is at the same bank! Also, a lot of people/companies think that since my last name is SO short that they will include my middle name in everything now. Grrr it's so annoying. I went from a 10 letter last name to a 4 letter last name so I am enjoying the new name alot :)

My first name, I've always wanted to change. It's Patricia, I go by Tricia so why not drop the Pa, right! The only reason I dislike Patricia so much is that I get called Pat and I HATE being called that, reminds me of the saturday night live character, yuk.

I legally changed my last name to my DH's when I got married.

My first name remains the same. I think my parents would have been insulted had I changed it. Plus, I like it. It's the right name for me. It fits.

Changed my last name with two marriages (back to my maiden name inbetween)...and the next time...they're taking MY last name! ;)

Denise < --- has a hard enough time responding to the three derivatives of her first name that are used regularly.

I named my daughter Catherine. I thought it was a pretty name that no one would have trouble with. Well people want to call her Cathy or Katy or something else. We decided when she was born that we would call her Catherine and if she ever wanted to shorten it then she could. She's 10 and she is still called Catherine.

I am a Katherine and while I don't mind Kat (obviously) when people call my office and I say "This is Katherine" and they instantly say "Hi Kathy" I gently remind them my name is Katherine or they may call me Kat, but only my mother calls me Kathy.

As for legally changing my name, when I was in my teens I really wanted to change my name to ANYTHING but Katherine. It was too "common" for me. :)
