Leg waxing questions

I'm trying to get into waxing my legs and bikini area. I went for the first time a few weeks ago to get ready for my upcoming Florida trip. In 12 days I go again. My questions are:

1) If waxing is supposed to take place every 4-6 weeks, how can you wear your bathing suit during those days when the hair begins to grow back but it's not time to wax yet? If there has to be hair for the wax to adhere, is there a week when you simply cannot wear a bathing suit until your next wax?
2) What's the best way to prepare for a wax? Right now my legs seem so dry that if I were to go, most likely all the hair will just break right off. Should I take a bath to soak my legs the day of waxing to open up the pores of the hair shaft? Should I lotion up to soften up the skin?
3) The aestetician told me to exfoliate by using a loofah or a pouf. I normally use a pouf but it doesn't seem to help that much. I'm still getting some ingrown hairs despite using the pouf and using an ingrown hair solution that I use after every shower. Should I go out and get some of that really rough apricot scrub type stuff to make sure my legs are sloughed of dry skin?
Any help would be appreciated. I'm really stupid when it comes to this kind of stuff.
Just FYI, I'm the type where if I shaved in the morning, by evening I wouldn't be able to wear a bathing suit because of my 5 o'clock shadow.

No answer here, but I've always wanted to know about the bathing suit thing, too! That's what's kept me from trying it all these years.

I think waxing works well for some and not so well for others, like me. I would have to wax once a week. My hair growth is plentiful. Frankly I would have to be lasered.

Let us know if it works or doesn't over time?

I'm real curious about the summer. We'll see how it goes. I'm only doing the legs and bikini two times this spring. Once summer comes, I'm only going to do the bikini. It took her 2 hours to do my entire legs bikini area the last time. I'm just not that patient.

just subscribing to see what oher have to say...I would love to be able to get waxed, but I'm too afraid! Can't really shave as it causes terrible redness and bumps no matter what I do.
I only get my eyebrows waxed now and I hate it! Plus I break out every single time and I'm afraid to have that for the bikini area

I wax and yes, there is always a week, at least, that I cannot wear a suit because I need to let the hair grow long enough to be rewaxed.
I try to plan it around my beach trips/ vacations and so far it has worked out very well.
I use a dead sea salt scrub to exfoliate and it works well.
Personally, I'm looking into lazer hair removal because waxing is so time consuming and painful. It would be nice to just have body hair zapped off one and for all. :thumbsup2

Thanks Holly.

I think I'll look into some salt scrub with oil. That should do the trick.

i'm really interested in this too. i don't mind shaving my legs, but my bikini area always gets red and bumpy when i shave -- i have tried every technique and every product on the market and it still happens. i have sensitive skin.

i wax my own eyebrows and have always wondered about getting a bikini wax. i'm sort of embarassed to have someone do it though - and i don't think i want to do that myself!

Depends on what color your hair grows in. My leg hair grew in the same color as the top of my head, which is more of a blonde than a dirty blonde, so I never had to wax or shave often. Electrolysis/laser treatments are extremely safe, and I'd recommend them. It's nice to not even have to bother shaving anymore!

I tried waxing before. I went from bumpy and red to hair. Never had a week of looking normal.
Now, I am looking into laser. I just REALLY do not want to spend all that $ and still have hair. I also would have 5 o'clock shadow (if not 3:00  )
Good luck!
