When I was a kid I dreaded having leftovers for dinner. If there was something we didn't eat the night before, there's probably a good reason. Now, that I'm the mom, I'm loving leftovers night! I don't have to cook or dirty any pots and pans. All I have to do is nuke! Woo hoo leftovers!!!! :cool1:

hated hated hated leftovers as a kid(had it at home and at grandparents) and still do to this day on most things. that being said ds and dh also can't stand them either. there are a few exceptions...leftover pizza, lasagna, and beef stew will make it a second time around. dh will take what we had for supper to work the next day if he had to work late and ate on the road. (so it really isn't leftovers to him as he hasn't eaten it yet)

I've never eaten leftovers much, as a kid or as an adult. My daughter is a different story however. She LOVES them.

When I was a kid (a long, LONG time ago :teeth: ), there were no microwaves, so leftovers were either cold, or you had to find a pan and try and reheat them on the stovetop. Ever since the microwave oven came along, leftovers have become a staple in our diet!

I love leftovers, my dh hates them. Avoids them like the plague.

Some stuff is not very good reheated (e.g. steak, burgers), but some food is just as good or even better the next day (e.g. casseroles, tacos). Why would anyone hate all leftovers :confused3 ??

I love leftovers, my DD hates them. I told her that when she gets married, she will love them too. Getting two meals from 1 dinner is my definition of happiness.

I'm the oldest of 3 kids, and when I was in high school my mom started a new "tradition": Each person in the family was assigned one night a week that they were in charge of dinner. If it was your night, you planned the menu, checked ingredients, added stuff to the weekly grocery list, and either did the cooking or "supervised" the cooking. If you cooked or helped to cook, you didn't have to help clean up. So 5 nights of the week we had "home cooked" meals, one night we were all crazy with lessons, etc. so everyone was on their own for dinner, and every Friday was "the week in review" - aka leftovers! We'd spread out all the leftovers on the counter, and each person would make their own plate of what they wanted and nuke it or eat it cold as desired.

To this day, I always feel like I should be saving my leftovers for "The Week in Review", but DH just takes it all to work for his lunches.

I grew up with left over nights & DH's parents still keep everything until it is gone...however long that takes. :crazy2: That is why we only save pizza. Nothing else gets eaten so I don't pretend that it will be.

My DH & I like leftovers but my oldest DS does not. I like to think of "left overs" as a free meal. Usually I try to figure out how much the meal I put on the table cost us. So when it's left overs, to me it's FREE food since I already added up the price the previous night (make sense?) :teeth: Just a silly way of trying to figure out how much we SAVE by eating at home! That's how I can justify us going to Disney twice a year! :cool1:

I love leftovers, but DH doesn't. I try to use them to make something new, and then they get eaten. For instance, if we have leftover steak, I'll slice it up and use it in a stir fry. If we have leftover burgers I'll use it in chili or a casserole. Leftover chicken breast I slice up and put on a caesar salad.

My DD loves Left Over night - however having a 6'4" 240# teenage boy in the house greatly reduces the number of meals we have that consist of leftovers. Usually the DD gets the few morsels not devoured by the human eating machine on the nights we are having something she doesn't like.

I'm not crazy about most leftovers (some are okay, like casseroles) but DH LOVES them! I bought a lot of inexpensive plastic containers of various sizes (some have 2 compartments) and when I put the food away, I make up as many containers as possible and DH takes them for lunch (they have a microwave at work). He prefers this to a sandwich and he can just grab one out of the fridge and head off to work in the AM. This has been a great system for us.

BTW my wonderful aunt used to call leftovers "Mustgoes" because everything in the fridge must go!

I usually take leftovers with me to work the next day for lunch. DH and I usually forget about them if we keep them in the fridge at home. So they always go to waste if I don't take them to work.
