Left bag at MCO

Argh. Currently at POR at midnight and just realized we left a bag at MCO baggage claim. Any brilliant ideas on how we can retrieve it other than a taxi there & back in the morning? We took ME but handled our own bags

Talk to guest services in the morning, explain the situation, and see if they will allow you to catch a ride back to the airport on DME.
Have you called the airport to see if they have pulled your bag?

With luck the bag will be in the unclaimed luggage office, providing someone didn't walk off with it. Call and see if they have it. You will likely need to take a taxi to get it.

Thanks all. Called United and the bag is still there. DH headed there this morning by taxi. Expensive mistake that we won't make again!

You could have called the airport and asked if they could put it into the Magical Express baggage delivery system for you and it would be delivered to your room.

Although you already solved the problem through the time and expense of using a taxi, here's what I would have recommended to you if you hadn't:

I agree with seashoreCM.

You rode on DME and are entitled to free DME bag delivery to your room.

Unclaimed bags are locked up by the airline. Airlines work with DME to release unclaimed bags (including those without yellow tags) to DME so that DME can deliver the bags to the correct guests' rooms, based on DME's passenger records and the airline's baggage claim tags.

You probably told the DME desk at the airport that you had no bags for delivery, so DME was not looking for bags to deliver to your room. Call Disney's Magical Express Guest Services at 866-599-0951. Tell them you made an error and have a bag after all. Ask DME to deliver it to your room.

Go out and have fun. The bag should be in your room when you return.

Sometimes the more expensive solution is the easiest. OP used a taxi and probably got the bag in an hour or so. I agree the OP, probably, could have gotten free delivery via DME but how many phone calls? How long on the phone?

Suggestion for people in a similar situation, where DME isn't an option. Airlines pay a service to deliver bags which are lost or misdirected. You might be able to pay to have your bag delivered to your hotel.

Could have rented a car for one day which more than likely would have been cheaper than a taxi.
There is Alamo onsite or many of the hotels across from DTD have rental agency's. Hilton has Avis, Wyndham has Dollar. We have done one or two day rentals from both locations and the rentals are even cheaper than an airport rental because you are not paying the added airport fees. Usually we have paid around $30 for the car.

I don't think you would get $30 rate as a "walk up". OP went with the quickest solution. Getting from POR to a rental office, renting the car then reversing the process for the return would probably add an hour or more. I don't know if the OP brought a computer. 30 minutes on the computer trying to find a decent rate. Add tolls and gas. s

The airline could not get me on a flight until early evening, but my suitcase was sent ahead. When I arrived in MCO at 9 p.m., no one knew where my bag was. After spending an hour looking and talking to Customer Service, someone thought to check with Disney. My bag had been taken to my hotel, even though there was no yellow tag.

I was glad to have found it, but not so happy that they picked it up without a DME tag.

I had a few tags on it with my name/cell number, and the airline tag. That was all. I was very surprised by this. I guess they matched my tags plus my flight info with DME.

Apparently, the yellow tag fell off DSiL's bag in April. DD called luggage services (I think) 3 or 4 hours after our other 3 bags were delivered. They were able to tell her that DME had the bag and would bring it to the room. It finally showed up at the room about 10 pm. We were quite pleased. I suspect the DME frequently communicates with the airline baggage services.
