Led Zeppelin Collides With The Magic Kingdom! The Grand Finale!!! 6.28.2012

Lots of really, really great pictures of MEP and Wishes! It is so hard to get those to come out right. I'm still learning what all the buttons and settings on my camera does. The great thing about digital cameras is you can take as many pictures as you want and do not have the expense of developing as we did with the old SLR and Instamatic cameras! I hated to spend the $'s to develop a 36 exposure roll of film only to find out many were out of focus or I should have taken the picture at a different angle! :sad2:

Looking forward to more of your TR.

Thank you!! I go crazy taking pictures when the fireworks start and then I can't choose...so I just post them all!! I am still learning everything on mine too...hopefully I will get plenty more practice in less than a month! I remember going on my first cruise and when I got home I had 11 rolls of 35mm film to develop! And so many of those were not usable! I LOVE the digital age!! :woohoo:

Madison is on me to finish and I really want it done before the July trip. Every time I open the lap top she asks if I am posting!

Just joining in. Loved your last TR so I'm sure I'll love this one as well!! Now, time to get caught up. :-)

Sunday, March, 25, 2012

The same pattern is followed this morning as in the past two days: wake up calls at 6:30am, breakfast at 7-7:30am and load the buses at 8:15am. There is one exception here: check-out! So while we push everyone out of their rooms…no I take that back only a few needed prodding the rest were ready and loaded when they were supposed to be!....the chaperones have room check and we gather the things that the students have left behind.

You know, things like band shoes, a band hat, a flat iron, underwear (Yuck!), hair brushes, makeup, articles of clothing, the list went on and on!!
And we make sure the rooms have not been destroyed….we are good! :thumbsup2 Let’s ride!!!

First up? Animal Kingdom!!!!!

IMG_1063.jpg

We arrive at Animal Kingdom and enter the park.

IMG_1064.jpg

The line I got in to check the bags was a huge mistake! I have never had a bag checked like this one. The woman went through everything and would ask “What is this?” “Why do you have this?” Needless to say it took forever!! I promise it took her several minutes just to go through my bag! And I had nothing in it that was suspect or not allowed!

After everyone finally got through the bag check line, we all stopped for a group photo.

IMG_1066-1.jpg

Then we were off!! My cohort and I made our way to the First Aid clinic as we had the last two days. Pictures on our way…

While we were at the First Aid clinic Madison and her friends rode Dinosaur. Madison took a couple of pictures:

This wasn’t one I cry over missing but EE is!!

IMG_1083.jpg

We queue up in the line which was 30-40 minutes. I say this in every TR but I love, love, love this queue area!!! While we were waiting the line had quite a few from our school interspersed along with kids from other schools. I think AK was the school group park of the day! But the crowds weren’t too bad at all! As we were waiting I naturally took a lot of pictures.

At one point in the line, part of our group began a chant….”We’re goin’ to start the wave, yeah, we’re goin’ to start the wave…one, two, three” and then the whole snaking line did the wave. We had an entertaining group for sure!! They did this several times until we entered the building…

After conquering the Yeti we decide to do it again!! This time we went through the single rider line. The wait was maybe 15 minutes or so. My partner was an 8 year old boy who talked the entire ride and told me every single drop, turn, move the ride made. I didn’t have the heart to tell him I have been on EE about 100 times! I just let him enjoy the moment! He also kept asking me if I was scared!

We finish up with EE and begin walking with the safari in mind but no real goals.

IMG_1113.jpg

IMG_1114.jpg

IMG_1116.jpg

Kali River has a short wait so we head in that direction and literally walk on!

IMG_1119.jpg

IMG_1120.jpg

It was such a fast walk-on that I had to stop to but my camera and phone in a waterproof bag!

We got soaked!! No surprise there but it felt good because the day was already pretty warm!!

IMG_1121.jpg

We continue our trek and I almost stepped on a snake!! A little squirmy black snake! We stand there watching it and my cohort has to stop his son from attempting to pick the little fellow up! It was about 12 inches long and skinny. They do not feed their snakes well in AK!

Now I have to say that you know you have a bunch of country lovin’ folks from Mississippi when they stand on a sidewalk in the middle of AK to allow a snake to make his way across the pathway! Also of note is that it was obvious this snake was a baby and not harmful. I do not like snakes  and I am of the general opinion that I will determine if the snake is venomous or not after it is dead!! But this also brings me to something a little off-topic but still Disney related, just about the July trip:
I read/participate on the Liners (Unofficial Guide/Touring Plans) App’s chat feature. We are staying at POFQ and evidently the big topic is that POR/POFQ and now CBR have….:scared1:….snakes!!! I am not real sure where these people freaking out over this are from but I find it quite comical! Snakes are a pretty common occurrence for us whether it is king snakes, water moccasins, copperheads and the list goes on and on. So my thinking is you are in Florida in a swamp with lots of foliage/vegetation and near water (as many have pointed out) so is this really a surprise?! Do you really think Disney can keep all of the snakes out? Even on the boat ride from POR/POFQ they talk about the natural wildlife and how it is protected. Anyhow, I just find people freaking out over this hilarious!! I don’t like snakes and would rather not run into them but these people are actually asking opinions on changing their resort to somewhere else due to the snake sightings!! :confused3

The snake has safely exited the sidewalk area so we move along. The kids must have found these monkeys entertaining because we stopped here about three times!

IMG_1122.jpg

IMG_1123.jpg

IMG_1125.jpg

IMG_1126.jpg

IMG_1127.jpg

We then decide it is snack time!! We decide to hit the pretzel stand! I got the jalapeno and Madison had a regular! The jalapeno pretzel was so good!! But it is huge and more than one person (at least this one person) can eat!!

I was super excited! I love when you see/experiences little things out of the blue!!

Next up...will minds get changed again? Will we make it to KS today?!

Ok! What is up with the Dis not sending e-mails when subscribed threads are updated!! I just thought everyone had a busy weekend like me! Well, anyway, I've only just finished reading your MK final post and what amazing pictures you have taken!! Wow!! They are beautiful! I felt like I was right there watching everything. My absolute favorite is the castle with the fireworks and the ribbon rainbow. I've never seen another picture quite like that one! Thanks for sharing and thank Madison for the videos.

Back to read the rest...........................

I knew you would hit EE first!! It's too bad you've already reached your last day. Vacations (long or short) seem to fly by in nanoseconds!:confused3 Glad the crowds weren't bad and you've already been on some great rides. I was trying to think what I would hit if I only had 1/2 a day there. Looking forward to the rest.....................

That happens to me sometimes! I don't know why but then I have missed several posts by the time I realize it! So glad you enjoyed the pictures! I was pretty excited that the camera captured some decent shots! I will be sure to let Madison know you liked her videos!

EE is almost always first for us unless we have breakfast at Tusker House first and then it is KS! Madison took everyone to Dinosaur first just for me!! Overall this 1/2 day was probably the best we had arriving late and with no FP access!!

I love Teva Mush too! However, you are correct, eventually they lose their mush and there's not much you can do about it after that.

Okay, so your snake post had me laughing. People actually debate whether or not they should leave a resort because of a snake sighting? Good heavens. Maybe we should all start selling our houses because we find a snake in the grass. :lmao:

You might want to keep an eye our for the little creepy crawlers. I'm with you...I'll decide if it's poisonous AFTER it's dead!

Lucky you. I've never seen Miss Devine at AK.

Great AK pics!! It's my least favorite park for attractions, but my favorite for themeing.

Would you believe that I've never seen the EE line? I always do single rider or FP. You're braver than I, I had the camera tucked safely away for the duration of the ride. ;)

Yay for a DeVine sighting! I've never found her.

Can't wait to hear what you guys did next!

Tevas are the bomb!! :thumbsup2

They have been debating! And it doesn't appear that they are joking! I pretty much thought the same thing....I could have sold my house many times over if that was an issue! :lmao:

Me too!!

That is too funny that we both thought that! Plus this sign must be pretty popular int hat I saw it in another TR from around the same time period! :rotfl:

Lucky you. I've never seen Miss Devine at AK.

This was the 2nd time we walked up on her! It is pretty cool to suddenly see the "tree" moving!

I love AK because of the theming and detaisl! It amazes me how well it is put together!

The EE queue is very detailed and the "museum" is very interesting to walk through. I really babied the camera! I don't think I would have attempted had I not been on EE so many times before and knew when to cushion it! I had prepared my bag for rides with my camera knowing I wouldn't have someone to hold it while I rode.

:scared1: I HATE SNAKES!! We do have them in CT but they are in more wooded areas so I don't come across them.

I just hate them. There is something wrong with a creature that can move with no legs:eek::confused3 Anyway, I have seen all the post about where the snakes sightings happen most- POR/POFQ, CBR and decided that they can happen anywhere and it won't stop me from staying at a certain resort. If I have that big of an issue with it, I probably shouldn't be going to FL, which is a giant swamp land. I do pay closer attention when walking near bushes and water areas though.

I don't think we have ever been on Kali rapids. I always see people coming off the ride completely drenched and never feel up to getting that wet. It does look cute though.

I love EE:love:

You have been getting some great pictures! Didn't you get a new Canon Rebel before your trip? Has it been pretty easy to master? I am debating on whether or not to get one before our cruise. Part of me wants to be able to great pictures, but I'm not sure I will want to carry it around on port days. I might just wait until xmas.

Forgot to say that I personally would rather see a snake than a mouse any day of the week. Interesting how we all have different critter phobias, huh! I saw a thread earlier this week about people sighting an alligator at Beach Club. Apparently it's not all that uncommon either! :scared1: "Take small children by the hand........................."

Snakes freak me out! I get shivers seeing them in those glass cages at zoos! Our house is almost surrounded by woods so when the weather begins warming up we all walk outside more carefully! But they can be seen even in the capital city Jackson...oh, wait, those have legs and arms....:lmao:

You will get soaked on Kali but if the temps are 80+ you are dry within 10-15 minutes! I always dress prepared for a soaking at AK just in case we get to ride!

I did buy the Canon Rebel and I have loved it!! I played with it some prior to the trip but it has normal settings also so you can get great regular shots while learning the fancy stuff. I have a lot to learn but so far it is very easy to use!! It can be cumbersome carrying around though. I did at times forget it was around my neck and had to catch it as it fell forward.

I would love to see a gator in the wild! But only if there is a LARGE distance away!! To me mice are creepy, disgusting little rodent creatures!! They really creep me out!! And referencing saintstickets comment...yes, there are only two I want to see at Disney!! :rotfl:

YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE A MOUSE?!?!?! Tell Mickey and Minnie to cover their ears people!! :rotfl2:

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

When I left off we had a run in with the Yeti (twice!), got soaked on Kali River, had a yummy pretzel snack and admired DeVine plus Madison and the gang had tried to help bring back a dinosaur until a meteor storm cut their journey short. Now we were in search of a two week safari!!

IMG_1143.jpg

IMG_1144.jpg

Finally we arrive at Kilimanjaro Safari and queue up for a 40 minute wait.

IMG_1145.jpg

I think it was really a little longer but it may have felt that way due to us being HOT!

IMG_1147.jpg

We try to entertain ourselves and finally we are ready to board.

IMG_1154.jpg

As the jeep before us pulls off a lady takes a picture of those still waiting. There was a school group right next to me with one girl that became furious that a stranger just took a picture of her! Her friends pointed out that she was probably just taking a picture of the crowd and with so many people in the parks there are no telling how many pictures have been made of her just due to her walking by. Isn’t that true?! I have hundreds of pictures that include people I have known and never will know! Many are right here in this report!! There is even a thread on the DisBoards where people post a “Is this you?” picture!

Well, my rabbits are running around like crazy today!! So back to the real story at hand!

We board for our two week safari and begin to see lots of animals!!
