Ok, we leave Thursday nite for a quick visit to Orlando en route to a beach vacation. We (Self 49, DW 42, DS 10, DD 6) have One Day - Sat the 15th - to do A Park (no park hopper - not adding another $160 on our tab...) AK, MGM, IOA, SW and US have been ruled out for various reasons, leaving MK and EP. (All 4 have been to MK, DS and DD have not been to EP)
From what I have been reading in various places (just found out about THIS board, and something tells me this is where I shoulda started ages ago....... :( ) MK is going to be at or near capacity that day, and that EP is always The Fallback for such crowds. I keep reading that MK will be elbow-to-elbow, lines will be 2+ hours, etc etc

But we are still leaning towards MK anyway, here's why - More Rides, More Variety[which is not a small thing, as DD and DS are very different in their likings] we have an ADR at Liberty Tree for dinner, AND MK is open to midnight. We are thinking of taking a mid-day break, say from about 1-5, and trying to get the kids to nap a bit, so we can come back for dinner, the 9 pm Spectromagic Parade and 10 pm fireworks, after which maybe the ride lines will have thinned out a bit?

Or are we being foolish, and should we try to get an ADR at San Angel, not take a mid-day break, and just make the best of things at EP?
Decisions, decisions...........

Please guys, correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought you could only return mid-day and go back to another park later if you had park hoppers? We've always had the park hopper passes, so I'm not quite sure, but I'd like to know anyway

You do have to have a park hopper to go to different parks...If you just goto lets say MK for the day and leave, you can get your hand stamped and return to MK that same day. If you do not have a Park Hopper, then you will have to pay admission to another park....

Oh, that's great to know. Thanks.

i am a child myself and have been to WDW twice and personally i found epcot nice if you had alot of time to spend there, but if i only had 1 day i think i would go to AK. I know you ruled it out, but if you have seen the MK a million times AK is definately awesome. there is a safari ride where the animals are so right up close. tons of fun rides ( plus expedition everest) In a way it is kind of a little bit of epcot because it has asia and africa but shows animals :) but it is still a little bit of the world.

Ok you stated that they have not been to Epcot. Yes MK does have more rides. And remember, Pirates will be packed due to it's only open for the Easter rush. After that it closes until July. If you already have an ADR, then unless you want to pay for 2 parks, you will need to stay at MK. Now that is not a bad thing. I would go to Epcot if you are worried about the crowds. Yes you may not see Wishes or Spectro unless you get an adr at lets say Ohanas and time it just right or Chef Mickey's. Epcot is great and has some great rides. Hmmmmmmmmmmm Lets see....

You have Space Ship Earth, Eneregy, Test Track, Mission Space, Living Seas, Soarin, Figment, Honey I shrunk the audience, and over at World Show Case you have lets see....the Canada Film...you have the mexican ride in mexico, you have the Norway ride, you can see the American Adventure, you have the film in China and France.... The list goes on and on. Oh don't forget about Illuminations.....If you all have been to MK before, give Epcot a try. You might have to cancel your ADR for LTT, may I suggest Morocco or if you want all you can eat, you can get an ADR for Beirgarten in Germany...mmmmmmmmmm

Good rides at EC, to be sure, but I feel only 3 of them (Figment, Soarin', and Honey) would appeal to DD6....... The Norway and Mexico rides are kinda lame, IMHO. Films? Zzzzzzzz......

If we can get an ADR at the San Angel, then it would add to EC's allure.....

This is coming from a former BROOKLYN BORN & BRED guy! :smokin:

Flip a coin!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

Heads "MK", Tails "EC"!

Either way you will have one great day!

Give my regards to Flatbush Ave!

I'd make sure you can get an ADR in Epcot BEFORE you cancel anything at MK. :thumbsup2

I agree with sjreed. Don't cancel your ADR until you are sure that you can get one in Epcot. I think given the timing you may find there is nothing available in Epcot. In that case I would stick with the MK and LTT. I think you will have a wonderful time, and your plan sounds good to me.
