Not quite as excited as I thought I would be. We head out tomorrow for Disney (stopping overnight tomorrow in GA), but I am sooooooo not as excited as I was last time. Actually almost quite the opposite. I am not looking forward to the car ride. Maybe my 'tude will change when I get there, but for now I am just UGH. We still havent told the kids. We are as of now holding out till Sunday to tell them when we are closer, but I kind of wanted to tell them after the T-ball game tomorrow (which we are leaving after). I figured I could have their mickey ears ready and go "Guess what...we are going to disney" after the game. Dont know...i guess it depends on how we all feel then...LOL. Anyone else not feel excited about going just b4 going???

Can't say in 5 trips this has ever happened to me, hope you get some Disney magic to brighten up your trip!:goodvibes

I am never excited about the car ride...

Hopefully when you tell your kids where you are going and see the looks on their face and see how excited they get that it will put you in the mood and get you excited as well.

Have fun!! and relax ;)

i have never driven to disney but i absolutely hate flying, so before each trip i am just sick to my stomach and think about how i just want to stay home.

You've probably already left, but here's hoping you come back to tell us that as soon as the Disney magic hit you, all your excitement came rushing back! Hope you have/had fun!

I dont get excited until the plane lands, before hand it feels a bit unreal, so until we get our luggage and are in the rental car arguing about which way to go, thats when I get excited.

Hope you have a lovely time :)

I must be weird, because I LOVE the car ride!
13 hours of my kids buckled in and (for the most part) quietly watching movies or coloring? Yes please! A chance to have an uninterrupted conversation with my husband? Yes please! All the junky snacks we don't usually eat at home? Sign me up!!!

:thumbsup2, that sounds like a winner to me! :cool1:

We drive from Southern Illinois, so a few hours farther. My wife pretty much hates the drive and isn't excited until we hit Florida.

I on the other hand love the drive down. I know they watch movies most of the way, but we turn it off and play games, look around, and do some geocaching along the way. I guess the reason I love the drive is I know it's adding memories and probably bits and pieces that they'll talk about the rest of their life, guess it's part of the experience.

Another idea; get out a photo album or look at pictures from your last trips, that always makes me smile/laugh :goodvibes and might help!

Hopefully once you tell the kids and see the excitement, it will bring more excitement and some of that Disney magic will start to flow!

Have a great trip!!!! :dance3:

the only thing I don't like about the day before going is thinking that soon the trip will be over

hope you had a great trip!

My husband & I loved the idea of driving to Disney, but decided against it because of the kids. How do you get your kids to stay quiet and occupied THAT long? Man... sure, we'd load them up with music, movies, coloring, etc - but they would still manage to fight and stress us out...

It must be a genetic thing! I always loved the car, and my kids do too, when they were babies we would drive them around to get them to fall asleep.
I do buy them special things so that they have something new to look forward to, but for the most part it has nothing to do with anything I do, they just like road trips!
We have driven from California to Maryland or Maryland to California 4 times (two trips), so honestly Maryland to Florida doesn't even seem that far.
And they do still have meltdowns and moments!!!

This sounds like me!
And when it's DH's turn to drive, I can read! And I never have time to read!

For some reason, a 12-hr car ride to WDW never bothers us. ( the ride home is less fun due to lack of excitement but we still do fine.)

But the flight we took to Hawaii last summer was almost torture (just the flying/airport part of course- Hawaii was fun!).

But a road trip- never bothers me!

OP- I'm sure you're having lots of fun!

We leave this afternoon, and I get all nervous and cranky until we are on the Magical Bus! I love going, usually we leave bright and early before the crows wake up but this year we leave this afternoon.

I AM SO EXCITED!

We are still here...for about 4more hours. We are trying to keep the kids up and moving. Our plan is to leave around 6pm and arrive in GA around 1am so that the kids are asleep during most of that drive. Then we get up around 7am tomorrow and hit the road again. Still not excited though. Car is all packed and ready, but yeah....nothing.

When you're dreading something, it is hard to get excited about something else! I hope your excitement takes over when you see the Florida signs!!

Have a magical, fun filled trip!! Did you decide when to tell the kids? And where else would you tell them you are going if you drive that long?

I wanted to tell them after the game, but DH says "no we will wait till we wake up at the hotel tomorrow"

I too usually dread the ride to WDW :confused3 but once we are on the road I start to get excited. Once we go through the gate it all becomes real and I am really psyched :thumbsup2! I know you guys will have a great time just enjoy the time with your family :cloud9:

i guess i'm in the minority too, because i LOVE the car ride to wdw! it's about 10 hours, and we drive at night. we leave about 8-9pm, DH drives us from home to just south of atlanta (about 2.5-3 hours), then i take over and drive us through the night to orlando. we check in, ride around orlando and check out the outlets, eat lunch, etc., until our room is ready, then DH takes DD (age 12) to the pool while i nap for a couple of hours to recover from the drive. i hope you have a great time, OP! i'm jealous! no money in the budget for a vacation this year :(

For some reason, right before a trip I lose all excitement, but I get it back the minute I get on the road. It's not the drive for me, but getting ready. I have 3 kids as well and it's so much work to get everything done before we go.

Good luck and have a wonderful time.
