Weather forecast shows high 70's. We will be there till the 15th. So far, I have packed one pair of pants, one sweatshirt and one fleece for each of my boys. Is this enough in the way of warm clothes? Any need for jeans? We are hoping for mostly shorts and t-shirts weather.

We are leaving tomorrow and bringing mainly summer clothes and one or two pairs of pants and long sleeve shirts (of cours we are from Mass. so I woulnd't put pants on unless it was less than 50

They are predicting highs in the 70's for at least the next ten days. You may want a pair of jeans in the evening but it depends where you are coming from.

We leave this Sunday and will be down there until the 15th. Excuse me, but doesn't it get cold at night in Orlando? I have each of us a pair of gloves and a toboggan, a couple of fleece pullovers, and at least one sweatshirt already packed. In fact besides a few toiletries, snacks, ponchos, and fanny packs that's all I have packed so far. Granted I'm from the south and very cold natured, but I was thinking about bringing a heavier coat for the firework shows at night. What are the lows for the next 10 days? I will pack most of our stuff Saturday morning, but I do have packing lists typed out. I do not have any shorts on it though. Someone from the south please tell me if it's going to be warm enough to wear shorts and to go to Blizzard Beach.

I would go with a 1-2 pair of capri's(for boys kakhi's) and 2 sweaters...or something similar....mornings can still be cool....you can always do wash. I just wondering if 70's will be at 3:00...and most of the am/evenings might be cool. Of course I would bring several pair of shorts and tees too. But glad to hear you are going to have such FANTASTIC weather.

The lows are going to be in the 50's for the next ten days or so. I am sitting here in my shorts right now.

We had a "cold" spell around Christmas but right now the weather is beautiful and is expected to be that way for at least the next 10 days. I went out last night and had jeans on but didn't really need them.

I went last year in the beginning of January.. it was forcasted to be in the 70s. But we got there and the weather changed dramatically. It was like 30ish when we woke up and peaked at maybe 50. My suggestion is to bring hats and gloves just in case something like that happens.

Yes double checked you avg low temps...58-61 most days...I think you might be cool (not cold) in the mornings and evening, so I would bring clothes to layer. Have fun!!!

Thanks everyone...In the last 45 min since I first posted, the snow began here in Seattle...perfect timing for a Floriday getaway!

If you have some of those little stretchy gloves for the kids, they don't take up too much room in the back pack. Also stick hats in there, especially if you are going to take part in the EMH evenings. Bring two pairs of long pants, and WEAR the jeans down on the plane. A few shorts and t-shirts and you'll be all set.

We went last year second week of January and it turned FREEZING. Ended up buying a few sweatshirts for the kids since we only brought one a piece, and they got wet in one of the rain storms. Nothing worse than a big soppin' wet sweatshirt . . .UGH!

We leave next Wednesday. I am a former Florida resident but have been in Dallas since 1989. I am VERY cold natured. We will be at WDW for four days, and I have packed 4 jeans, 4 shorts, multiple short and long sleeve T's, a hooded fleece, a regular sweatshirt, hats, gloves and scarves for me and DS. DH won't let me pack his stuff so he is on his own!

I am planning to wear capris and a T-shirt on the plane with a denim jacket, but that may change if it is truly frigid here the day we leave. This morning it was 26. I will make DS wear jeans and a sweatshirt on the plane, and probably a jacket or coat over it so he will have an extra jacket along.

I have a feeling that even if it gets near 80 during the day I will be in jeans! DS and DH can choose for themselves, but DS tends to be cold natured like I am.

You won't catch me anywhere NEAR the water parks, the pool, or even the water rides. But I did pack DS's swim trunks, just in case. I can sit by the pool wrapped in a blanket while he swims. LOL

We'll just have to see how those morning temps feel. I MIGHT venture out in a sweatshirt and shorts. Better to just bring it all. I have never been able to travel without checking luggage. No need to start now! :Pinkbounc

Weather changes very quickly. If it were me (and believe me I WISH it were)
Id definatly bring a pair of jeans each. You can always buy a sweatshirt whereever you are in a park if you have to.. but long pants are hard to come by!

have fun!

I am packing NO shorts for my trip in a couple weeks. I am packing jeans, capris and sweatpants. My boys are taking a few pair of those cargo zip off pants and my DH is taking 2 pair of shorts. We will be packing our coats, mitten hats and scarves for the evenings and we will be taking our bathing suits too. We will be packing the stuff we wear here at home in Arizona since it looks like the weather will be about the same!

Carrie - I'm leaving right before you - right about when (according to Accuweather) it looks like it's going to get colder again. I got a couple pairs of those zipoff pants for my boys at Walmart (just $10 each) and they even came with wristbands/sweatbands. This way if it gets hot in the afternoon, they can zip them off and have shorts and the zipped off parts take very little room.

However, I can't decide what to do as far as tops. Should I go with LS tshirts with midlevel jackets (you know, a regular spring type jacket)? Or tshirts, with a sweatshirt over them, then a windbreaker? We won't be bringing a stroller so it seems like a lot to carry if it really warms up, but I'm afraid a tshirt and windbreaker wouldn't be warm enough in the mornings/evenings!

I have so much out to "possibly" pack. Guess I have to wait until about the day before to know for sure! And I can't even guess about poncho's/raincoats yet!

Marciemi-

We will be taking mostly t-shirts and at Wal Mart i got each of them 2 pair of long underwear (tops and bottoms). I figure in the mornings when it is cold they can wear a shirt under their t-shirts and when they take tem off they won't take up too much room. I got windbreakers that fit in little drawstiring bags to wear over that or if it is chillier they can wear sweatshirts then tie them around their waists. As far as jackets go, my older son and I have Disney stadium jackets that have the waterproof nylon on the outside and the gray lining on the inside. I have taken these jackets for our last 4 trips in December and they are perfect with a sweatshirt and tee underneath when it gets really chilly, or just the tee when it isn't. My younger son and DH have the Mickey denim varsity jackets with the khacki sleeves. My son also has a padded puffy type of Mickey jacket because he will more than likely be riding the stroller at night and he might get colder since he is not walking. We all have ponchos. We will be taking stuff for all weather but mostly we will be layering. I love those zip off pants. They work out perfectly!! I am going to get myself some long thermals too! I get cold!!

I was thinking that as I was typing my response - I'M the one who's always cold, not the kids. The boys have some of those long underwear pants because we ski alot and they're the base layer, but I don't think they'd be that cold that they'd need them, but maybe if it's in the 40's in the morning it would be good underneath. As I said though, "they" aren't the ones complaining about being cold.

Maybe I should dig out their ski turtlenecks (the wicking really lightweight ones). Shouldn't be hard since we're skiing this weekend. I guess I was just thinking of layering out, instead of under. We also have those jackets that zip up into a bag, but they're not very warm! This is our first trip without a stroller and I'm still concerned what to do with all this "stuff" when it warms up!

I'm not planning on me being in shorts at all unless it's really warm. If it's below 80, I'll be fine in pants all day and probably even a long sleeve tshirt. They'll just be dying of heat though if it's 65 and sunny and they have pants or long sleeves on! I was going to bring some of those one time use ponchos - the ones you get at the dollar store but take up literally no room. We don't have any of those stadium type jackets. They all have nice Lands' End ones, which are nice because they're waterproof if they get caught in a quick shower or we don't have our ponchos with us but they're pretty form fitting and I'm not even sure their sweatshirts would fit under them. Just can't decide!

In my experience this is what has worked well for us or what we plan to do based on what has worked on our past trips in Dec.
Mornings: t-shirts with a thermal long sleeve shirt underneath and a sweatshirt and pants. Pant bottoms go in backpack. Long sleeve shirts and sweatshirts get tied around waist. If it is not too cold then just tees and windbreakers.
Back to the hotel to rest and change before evening.
Evening: If it is extra chilly, we wear our jackets with a tee and sweatshirt. If it is only a bit chilly we wear long sleeve tees and jackets or sweatshirts over tees with windbreakers.
Since the Lands End jackets are probably of better quality and a bit heavier than ours, they should be fine in either a tee and jacket or a long sleeve tee and jacket. The turtlnecks you are talking about with a tee and jacket would probably be our equivilent to the sweatshirt and jacket. Sounds like you have a good plan and will be fine. I would take those turtlenecks though for sure, and hats and gloves too. Have a great trip! Where are you staying?
Oh, BTW be careful wit those $1 ponchos. We took then one year and they were so thin we got soaked due to the light breeze blowing them all over!

Carrie - they do have nice Old Navy ponchos that fold up into a pouch too; if the forecast is for any significant rain, I'll bring those. I was planning on those stretchable gloves, but since any coats they have would have hoods on them, wasn't really planning on hats. Guess if we're not prepared for the rain, we'll have to buy Disney ponchos we could bring home and reuse!

We're staying at Coronado, but since we're only there 3 days, aren't really planning on going back at all during the day, hence my confusion on packing for the day. We literally plan on leaving by 7am and getting back between 11 and midnight on the two full days we have at the parks. Are you onsite? Normally, I'd always do the afternoon break thing, but this time it just won't happen.

Brief plan:
Monday: Early AM flight, get to hotel, late afternoon/evening at EPCOT
Tuesday: Early entry MGM, afternoon/evening at MK (late)
Wednesday: MK (regular) in AM, AK in afternoon, Disney Quest in evening
Thursday: Blizzard beach then flight home!

If it's too cold for BB, we'll do Epcot (late hours) on Wed night instead of DQ, and spend Thu at DQ (we only have from about 11-3 anyways). What do you think!? They'll get home Thursday night, survive school Fri, then have the weekend (they're off that Monday too for semester break) to recover!

Yes, the Old Navy ponchos are good. You probably won't need the hats like you said, we use them because my older son is very prone to ear infections and we find he does better with something warm and tighter over his ears. He wears a stretch beanie. My younger son has some sensory issues due to autism and won't wear aything on his head. I am always cold so I will wear something and my DH probably won't wear a hat unless it is a baseball hat. You will more than likely have to get a locker since the extemes in temps make it almost impossibe to wear one outfit to be comfortable all day. You can pay for a locker once and go back as many times as you want. You can even get one at one park, keep you receipt and then get another at a different park. Otherwise you will have to carry their jackets around all day because they probably will need them at some point. Here is what allears says:

Locker rental at all four theme parks is $5 a day plus a refundable $2 deposit (price subject to change). If you park hop during that day, don't collect your deposit, but hold onto your receipt and show it at the locker rental at the next park. You only need to pay once a day for a locker. At the end of the day, collect your deposit before leaving the parks

This might work best if you can't go back to your room. AK gets pretty warm in the middle of the day and we have ended up having to get a locker while at that park. It really semms to get hotter there than the others!
We will be at POFQ for 2 nights and then OKW iin a one bedroom for 5 nights!

We are leaving in the morning as well. I should be in bed, as we are getting up at 4:30am, but I figured one last look at the boards wouldn't hurt : )

Anyway, i have a long pants for me and DS (DH not coming). I have capris and shorts for me. We will layer. I have sweat jackets for both of us, and long sleeve t shirts. during day - summer wear; at night - fall wear.

I also am bringing a pair of sweat pants with me. We love to Hot Tub in the evening when it is cooler. We can wear bathing suit with sweat pants and sweat jacket over it. Hot tub. Get out and slide them on over our swim suits to get back to the room without freezing our patooties off!!

See Ya Down There!! I'll be with large crowd of very strange people all yelling "Quinn Look Quinn Stop Quinn come here, etc" (Quinn is DS, youngest member of the adult group, he's only 7).

Shelly
