I am so upset right now, I don't know what to do! We leave on Saturday and just found out that we have to find a different hotel :-(

When we made our reservations almost 2 months ago, we reserved a king room w/disney view and a queen room w/disney view in building one. The king room was for my sister, it is her & her husband's 1st anniversary. Both rooms were originally put in my name. Today, we called to switch her room to courtyard view and were told that 1) both rooms were now in her name, our name had been cancelled from the reservation 2) At the time they switched the rooms to her name, BOTH rooms were changed to 2 queens! Each time we had called previously, we were told that she had a king and I had two queens. The person I just spoke with said that there ARE no kings in building one with a disney view. I can 100% guarantee that we both were told there were king rooms available with a disney view at the time we made the reservation.

So. Being that they don't want to stay in a queen/queen room (hello! it's their anniversary!) AND HOJO cannot guarantee that they won't get a freeway facing room ... we have to find a new hotel for all of us.

Does anyone know if there are rates out there that are better than $111 for Marriott Residence Resort area or $89 + parking for Hyatt Orange? If we have to find a new hotel, we might as well find one that includes breakfast. Our dates of arrival would be 9/9 - 9/13 (staying 9/8 in Palm Desert).

ARGH!!!! My pixie dust is fading. Any ideas? Thank you so much, sorry for my frantic post :confused3

Who did you speak with at the HoJo? Did you speak to someone locally?

I would recommend that you email Willie Simpson, he is the Sales and Marketing Director at the HoJo and tell him the whole story. I'm sure he will do his best to accommodate you. If you can't get a hold of Willie, I always talk with Jennifer Breland at the hotel. She is quite helpful as well.

Here is there info:

The King room will probably be the problem... I know that neither Carousel or Tropicanna have King rooms, both have single queen rooms. You could try BWPPI or Camelot, these are both closer to DL than HoJos and include breakfast.

I agree, call back and ask again! We had a king room last month building 1, but they all do face the freeway!!!

I wouldn't cancel though, I would just take the rooms they offer, maybe they'll give a discount for the inconvenience!! And anyways, sleeping in a queen will be much more cozy for their anniversary!!! Don't let this ruin your good mood or the trip, just roll with the punches!! I thought you were gonna say they had no room for you at all, now that would be a disaster!

Ask for a king room in building 3. It's close to the main pool, and it may have a nice view of the courtyard/fountain area, or possibly a view of the main pool area with a little bit of a Disney view too.

I appreciate your responses :-)

They only rooms they have left with a king bed are in building 2, and one that faces the freeway in building one. My sister had completely lost faith in HOJO - and I don't want to talk her into something that she will be unhappy with later. They are absolutely insistent on wanting a king bed (which I understand). Honestly, the two queen beds work fine for our family of four, but we had all planned to stay in the same hotel.

We found a $99 AAA rate with Marriott Suites, that might just be the answer. But I was really anticipating saving $$ with this room - we just found out today that our car needs work prior to the trip. DH is very stressed about the budget. We might have to send my sister to Marriott and we can stick with HOJO. Maybe I will call the manger tomorrow. Will keep you updated ... thanks again :goodvibes

FWIW, I absolutely prefer Bldg. 2 over Bldg. 1 (I've stayed in both numerous times). You don't get a Disney view (but she wouldn't get that anyway wanting a King bed). Building 2 is very quiet and has a pretty view overlooking the quiet pool and twinkle lights in all the trees. I'd try to convince your sister that one person's mistake at the HoJo shouldn't cause her to lose faith in the entire place. They will go to great lengths to make it up to you, I'm sure. They pride themselves on their excellent customer service reputation. :thumbsup2

I agree, the area around building 2 with the lights and the quiet pool is very pretty.:thumbsup2 Some prefer building 2 because it's seems more secluded/peaceful. If it were just DH and I, we'd also choose building 2 and the awesome quiet pool over there, but with our 2 young boys, we prefer to stay closer to the noisier, action packed main pool and the arcade.:goodvibes

I wouldn't give my money to Hojo after their stellar clerk put you through emotional upheaval.
To save some dough, check the great AAA rates at the La Quinta Inn & Suites. They have some kids-suites type rooms that you might like, and some king rooms (might upgrade to king suite for the anniversary!)
The high floor rooms have a view of the disney fireworks. Breakfast is decent, and free, and shuttle service ($3 for adults)is good if you dont' want to walk to the park.

Here's another vote for talking with HoJo management to see how they can make it up to you!

First: I've always heard great things about this HoJo's in particular. I've never stayed there, but I agree that you should let them know what happened. They can't fix what they don't know about.

Second: A good manager will do what s/he can to make it up to you. Give them the chance to do that. They do NOT want you to go away thinking poorly of them, especially if they pride themselves on good service.

Thanks for the La Quinta suggestion ... they actually have some room configurations that could work well. Tripadvisor reviews seem to be a bit off, but the price is right :-) I don't know though, at this point, the whole trip is somewhat in question - not just related to hotel rooms.

We live appx 3 hrs from good healthcare, shopping, etc. I have been away from my family since Tuesday for dr appt's related to my 9/19 surgery, then the car started whacking out on me once it was time to go home last night. Got that fixed today. My sister is with me, she was eating & laughing at same time - inhaled food into her lungs, we spent all afternoon in the ER today. Tonight, we were finally starting the 3 hour drive home and my windshield wiper arms had somewhat of a freak accident while it was raining (probably caused by bad motor) and the whole thing bent into a twisted mess, nearly causing an accident. It was like something out of a bad comedy movie. Called my DH to tell him I have to stay another night and probably spend $250 on new arms & blades, found out DS has come down with pink eye. The Garmin GPS we ordered online for our trip arrived BROKEN. Shoes ordered for trip arrived in the wrong size. My cell phone is freezing up & has to be replaced. We aren't packed yet because I have not been able to get home. We leave Sat @ noon and I won't get home until tomorrow night & have to work up until noon Sat.

Somebody please send me some pixie dust and deep cleansing breaths. If I was one to believe in signs, I would say we shouldn't go! Sorry for my dismal posting, it's been a really rough couple of days :-) Hoping that we can pump the happy vibes back into our trip, LOL!

why dont you push the two queens together and get a super duper royal size bed :P
