Hi,
If you stay off of Disney like at a Holiday Inn that is one mile from the main gates of Disney, Is it possible to leave and come back like in the afternoon to take a nap. Do you get to go back in free? We will be buying one day tickets so will we have a problem getting back in? Thanks..Tara

Hi Brandonsmom1 -

I believe you can do that. You have to have your hands stamped for re-entry on that day.

I think going back to the HI is do-able if you have your own transportation.

We always thought we'd come back to our resort to nap too, but our kids would never do it, they'd be too excited. So we just found some quiet spots to sit and relax a bit and then we left the parks at dinner time, went out to eat and swam at night at our resort.

You need to make sure to get stamped before you leave the park. Depending on what time you get there in the morning and how old your kids are, you'll be ready for an afternoon nap.

We stayed off-site last April and did this almost every day...

We would get to the parks around opening time and stay until about 3:00 or 4:00. We would then go back to the resort and DD2 and DD5 would take a nap. DH, DS6 and DS8 would go for a swim or sit and relax while I made dinner. Around 6:00 or 7:00 we would all be ready to go back! This would all depend on transportation(we had our car) and park hours(they were open until 10 pm or midnight at that time).

Have Fun!!!

You will not have a problem getting back in, as long as you keep your ticket and have your hand stamped upon leaving. Also, remember that even though you're staying at a hotel 1 mi from WDW, that is usually 1 mi from WDW property (not the parks), and it could take you up to 20 minutes (once in your car) to get back. Also, if at MK, you have to factor in either monorail/ferry time to get back to the TTC and then tram time to get back to your car. It is entirely possible that it could take you 1 hour from deciding to leave MK and arriving back at your hotel room, and the same says on the reverse to return.

What about paying to park on re-entry?

The time spent depends. We found it real easy to drive to the parks from our Kissimmee resort but confusing to find the way back. I would study a map of WDW property and see how to get around. You will likely find some of the parks quite close to you and a few (such as MK) somewhat farther away.

Our kids are 7, 3, and 3, and we have been coming back to our room for an afternoon nap since my oldest was 2. I'd rather lose a few hours of park time in order to have well rested kids that are in a good mood in the evening. It is also nice to go back to the hotel room to change their clothes and get them refreshed. I like doing that too!

We do it all the time. Not a big deal at all. The All Star resorts are on the edge of the WDW property, so it's not that much farther to the hotels within 2 miles offsite. Parking is $7 for the day. Keep your parking stub and show it for re-entry. It took us several visits before we realized that you don't really need to take the parking lot tram. If it is there, we take it, but if there's a line or we just missed one, we walk. The monorail/ferry from TTC to MK is usually very efficient. They both carry a lot of people at once. One tip I picked up from this board is to take the resort monorail if there is a huge line for the express to MK. We've only had to do this once, but it worked like a charm. :D

It's not that difficult if you are staying on Disney property because you can just hop a bus, boat or monorail. But if you are staying off the property, you will really need to have a car and it may take more time than you really care to use. Unless the parks are open later, then you can hit the pool, take a nap, etc. and still head back to the park by 5 or 6.

Yep it is! Last year we went to the Magic Kingdom from about 9:30-2:30 and left for a while to rest at the hotel (we stayed at Marriott's Cypress Harbour) and we got back in time to ride a few rides and watch Spectro-Magic! ::MickeyMo
