Leaving on Friday! Hotel questions...

OK, after all that indecision, I finally booked!
It will cost us because I couldn't decide whether or not we should go...which means I couldn't find a hotel for all 5 nights.

I booked the Sequoia for the 30th and 31st (Halloween party!) in order to get the Halloween tickets guaranteed.

I didn't want to go to the parks every day we are there, so I booked the Holiday Inn for the 27th, 28th, 29th. I wanted to be close enough to take our suitcase to the Sequoia without too much problem...

So, how much of a problem will it be? Can we bring our bag on the transport bus on the morning of the 30th?

Last year my mum and dad left our hotel in the morning we checked out and left their bags for the day at the station. I'm sure you could leave your bag in a left luggage locker there for the day?

I guess I am hoping to leave the Holiday Inn on the morning of the 30th, go to the Sequoia lodge (via bus??), drop off our bags, pick up our tickets (we will need those! ) and then go to the parks for the day.

Does this make sense? I wish we could have gotten one hotel for the whole trip, but it was not possible.

You need to find out what is the earliest time you can check in at the SL then. I know that when we went last year people were checking in before the agreed earliest check in time, but not sure if you will be able to do it first thing. I bet you would be able to leave your bags in the lobby and get your tickets though. Why don't you ring the hotel and ask them?

Could you check into Sequoia Lodge on your way to the park and then leave your baggage with the baggage place or can you not do that and then you wouldn't have to humph it about all day.

We stayed one night at HI last week then changed to Santa Fe the next morning.We got the bus from HI to the train station and then the Santa Fe shuttle bus to the hotel.We got to the Santa Fe about 9.30 and were only expecting to get the envelope with our park tickets and leave the luggage and go back in the afternoon to get the room but to our surprise we got the room then too.At that time in the morning it was no problem managing the cases on the buses as they weren't busy.

Luggage is definitely allowed on the hotel shuttle buses. So as Julie H says, get your (by then very familiar pink No.54) bus to the bus station at DLP and then cross over to catch one of the yellow onsite buses to Sequoia Lodge. Here is the layout of the bus station

I'm fairly certain you can check in as early as you like, and store you luggage at the hotel, unless you are very lucky and your room is ready

WOW...well done on booking so close to the event! I think you should be able to put your baggage in the baggage room at the SL until it's time to check in.
Did you get the Halloween tickets...are you going to be in costume! I can't wait!!!
