OK, whine alert--

We leave on the 6am flight for florida on Friday, but my entire family is sick with UR symptoms and fevers. I would throw myself on the mercy of MS and ask to slide my vacation forward a couple of days, but the change fees on Spirit are going to be really high (we had a great rate $800 for 5 r/t). Ugh.

I'm sorry to complain, but last Feb we went to Fantasmic the first night and my son fell and broke his nose (bad) and shortened that trip. And in summer '06 I picked up Strep on our 3 night cruise and spent the following week in bed at the beach club while my family visited the parks. I won't even get into the stomach flu in Feb '06 or the norwalk virus of '04  .

I have to say, I'm starting to feel a little jinxed. I think the big problem is that we always travel in February which is the height of *everything* season and it's hard to get everyone healthy for the trip in the winter. But then again, there's 2" of ice on my lawn right now, so February is appealling in other ways.

Even so, this might be our last attempt at a feb trip. :sad1:

I hope you have a minor miracle and that everyone feels just a bit better by Friday!

- Desperate times call for desperate measures -

Have you tried airborne a couple of times a day? - this surprisingly worked for me the last time I started to come down with something like you describe.

The treatment for fever from an older friend is to put a slice of onion in your socks when you go to bed so it is against the sole of the foot. Some people say it really works - haven't tried this one myself and you might not be too popular on the plane if you can't get the smell off when you wash but as I said desperate times call for desperate and sometimes strange measures. I do know three people who swear by it.

You may want to reconsider your travel plans in the future and try a new time of year-Feb doesn't seem to be a good choice for you. We are going to be traveling March 6-13 and I am hoping to avoid any of the current UR infections in out area between now and then.

Wishing you and your family a speedy recovery and a very nice trip. pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

I'm echoing castleri, desperate times call for desperate measures.
I'd work on the fever. Can every one handle tylenol? If so, start pumping tylenol (recommended dosage of course) and orange juice. Also a few classes of gatorade to keep the electrolytes up. Lots of liquids period. I mean serious dosages of chicken noodle soup etc. Right now we just need everyone healthy enough to board a plane.
I'll be saying novenas to the patron st. of disney for a quick recovery.

You have had some bad luck- I am so sorry. I hope everyone is shipshape by Friday. Wishing you the best trip ever!
Have you talked to the doctor?

Another Airborne advisor here! We swear by it, and actually start taking it daily for a week before a trip. We also take it daily the whole time we are gone. It does shorten the duration of an existing cold too.

Lots of fluids, lots of rest!! Even after you arrive take it slow(er) and relax at the resort. Check with an MD....some UR conditions (if bacterial) respond to antibiotics and you could all be feeling better sooner than you think! Fevers might be an indication that it may be more than the common cold.

It sounds like you've had some bad luck health-wise at WDW....hope this trip turns out better :goodvibes

Good luck with everyone being sick. The crude is making a run through my family now as well. My wife and both kids just got over the fever part and are now fully congested in their noses and chests.

We leave for a ski trip (DVC Interval exchange) on the 23rd. Hopefully we will all be healthy by then.

My daughter has a history of being sick at Disney. Looking back she has been sick prior to or during a Disney trip about half the time. She even broke out two teeth at SSR on the last day of a trip.

Sorry you all aren't feeling well. You may want to think about hitting the doctors this week.. My younger daugther is now on Antibiotics.. Like a previous poster said the Fever might mean more than a cold.

And I don't blame you for wanting to travel in Feb..Its just plain icky around here. I'm in desperate need for some sun.

Best of Luck!!

Thanks for all of the good wishes.

My youngest has cystic fibrosis so any fever means an immediate course of antibiotics. Luckily, the doctor said he could still fly. She increased his meds and said to go thaw out and enjoy the sunshine.

Of course, I'm sick too and haven't even begun to pack but I'm sure I'll pull it together somehow.

Florida or bust....

Sounds like your Doctor prescribed the best medicine. Hope all become well and have a fabulous trip. Sunshine does the body good!!

Hi Jennypenny!
Our daughter - 27 next Friday - also has CF. I know common colds can turn dastardly overnight. All my best to you and your family... and to a great trip! Enjoy Disney and soak up some of that wonderful sunshine!

Fingers crossed for a healthy tomorrow.

So sorry. If it makes you feel any better, we all got the stomach flu the days leading up to our departure (ike dominoes we were). Then the oldest came down with it too the first night of the trip. It's all in my trip report. Good news is that we had a great trip!! Hopefully, you will too!
