Leaving for park before sunrise...

I was looking at sunrise/set times for Orlando in late October and I see when I'm there the sun rises at 7:30. (I realize how weird I am for looking at these things, in case you were wondering :p)

So if I'm going to an EMH morning at MK, it starts at 8, I can potentially be leaving the hotel while it's still dark out! I'll have to keep telling myself I'm not leaving for work! :rotfl:

I've never been this late in the year, I'm used to waking up with the sun.

That's all. :upsidedow

I doubt that it will be fully dark. The sky starts to brighten quite a while before official sunrise. Not sure how long dawn lasts before the sun actually rises down in Florida, though. I always love to take my early morning coffee outside to sit and watch the day start at the resort.

You're right, if we leave to get bus around 6:45 am (for 8 am opening), the sky should be brightening at this point, and we'll be out for the actual sunrise.

But it will be dark when we get up, which always makes it a little harder. :bitelip:

But…but…but…you'll be going to Disney World…!!! How can that be "hard"??!! :cool1::cool1:

Every time I got that wake up call to get us up so early in June, I had a moment of "magical" annoyance. :rotfl:

The only times in my life I'm EVER happy being awake to see the sunrise occur at Disney! :thumbsup2 I've seen it from the gates of each park at least once.

Even more annoyance if it's Stitch that is calling you…geesh. It's too darn early to have a screaming alien in my ear. :rolleyes2

We have gone at spring break when MK opens for EMH at 7AM every day. If we needed to take the bus I would drag the kids down to the bus stop by 6:15. Completely dark out. Have some good pics of sleeping kids. Last time we were at BLT and we left at 6:30 in the dark.
It is actually cool to see the sun come up at MK.

Yes, you will potentially be leaving when it's relatively dark. There are a few weeks there before daylight savings when it gets light LATE in the morning compared to most other places. Of course, it starts lightening before the official sunrise, but it's even still relatively dark at 6:45/7:00 at that at time of year.

We always go late October-early November, so we can there for Halloween. More than once I've gotten into a cab for an early breakfast ADR & it was still quite dark out.

Personally, I don't think this is weird AT ALL! :) I've added a small chart to my planning spreadsheet with the sunrise/sunset times for each of our days in Orlando. We're going to get to Florida the day of the "fall back" time change. So I'm afraid that my internal clock is going to be SO screwed up...not only will I be dealing with going from Central Time to Eastern Time, but ALSO with Daylight Savings Time. Not sure what we were thinking when we picked our dates, haha!!

Anyway, just wanted you to know that you are not alone! :goodvibes

My favorite time at Disney is just before the sun rises, everyone is still asleep..... and I go for a walk around the resort. That's also the best time of day for blue sky shots:

I always check the sunrise/sunset times - esp to plan riding after dark!! But walking down MS at sunrise (they opened at 7 am, sunrise was 7:02) was awesome!

It's always comforting to find other people who do things that I do and that I would to be consider weird. Perhaps I'm not so weird, or perhaps we are all weird! :rotfl:

Those are great pictures mom2rtk! :)
