"Leave them alone they are just lovin' each other"A 5/12 TR *Updated 12/30*

sorry you had to miss Fantasmic - I enjoy it as well but we've only seen it twice b/c of rain on our DHS visits.

Don't you just love the quiet pools at the CBR!?! We've found, that most times, they truly are quiet. :thumbsup2

Glad to hear that you enjoyed your meal at Mama Melrose's. We have eaten there before and we enjoyed it as well. Michael's spaghetti and meatball cupcake is so cute!

Darn that rain! I hated to hear that they canceled Fantasmic and that you missed out on it.

Hi Everyone!

Sorry about the huge break in the updates. Quick life update: I start student teaching next week, and I'm really nervous! I hope I get great cooperating teachers and learn a lot. I start my last year as a grad student and I'm very excited about that! Lastly some sad news, my grandfather passed away two weeks ago. While I am sad about him passing, I am very glad he is no longer suffering. It's was very hard watching him suffer for five years so it does give me some peace to know he is finally pain free. Now on to my happy place...

Sorry your night didn't end as well as planned...but hey, now you have a really cool souvenir in the form of a Disney Poncho!!:lmao:

:rotfl: Tell me about it... I left them in our suitcases when we got home. Those bad boys are going with us every single time we go.

Well, somehow I had missed an update before this last one. I had to catch up.

Love those onion rings at Sci-Fi. We usually tend to stick to the burgers, but that chicken sandwich looks pretty good.

Never tried Mama Melrose-but my sister's family loves it.

Sorry your evening didn't turn out as planned. I've had that happen on previous trips too. I love Fantasmic, and would hate to have to miss it too!

Ha! I loved the onion rings, I wanted a burger but was trying to eat healthier so I decided on the chicken. It was good but next time I think I'll try the burger ;)

I was really happy with Mama Melrose, which was a nice surprise. I wasn't sure what to expect and I found a lot of mixed reviews so I was a bit skeptical.

I try to not let get unplanned things get to me, because I really believe that if you mope around or complain it becomes contagious and then everyone is having a bad time. This time I guess it was a combination of the rain, the cancellation, and all the running around of the day catching up to me.

It is really a great show, for me its the most magical.

Yes! Those pools were great, in fact they were so nice and close that we only visited the main pool once. Wasn't that cupcake adorable!!

THanks so much for sharing!!
You're welcome, thanks for reading! ;)

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandfather. Like you said, though, it does give you peace to know that he's not suffering any more. Yay! for starting your student teaching! How exciting!

Thank you! Yes student teaching is exciting. My first week went well! ;)

We left off with me being bummed out about missing fantasmic. I thought I was doing a good job at hiding my disappointment but I guess I wasn't because the next morning John had a surprise for me; more about that later. When I woke up it was very early around 6:30. We had no plans for breakfast as this was Epcot day and we were just planning to eat as we walked around. I showered and got dressed, while I waited for the boys to wake up I straightened out the room a bit. I noticed we had accumulated a large amount of dirty clothes in the short amount of time we had been there. So I decided to do laundry. I set out Michaels outfit woke up John real quick and told him what I was doing and we decided to leave after 8 to Epcot.

The laundry building at Trinidad South is located right behind the quiet pool. I should have taken my camera with me because I had the perfect opportunity to take some nice pics but of course I didn't. :headache: When I got back to the room, I found John and Michael ready to go. I was getting my bag ready when John says: "You know I was thinking, we should just add the hopper that way we can see fantasmic later on this week." I immediately shook my head and said no its ok, but he wouldn't drop it :rolleyes1 so I gave in. :cool1::cool1: We left for Epcot in a great mood.

We had decided to grab breakfast at Sunshine Seasons. On our way there we grabbed our FP for Soarin, it was for 11:30. We had about two hours until then so off we went to eat. It was our first time at Sunshine Seasons, and it was ok. I don't have any other notes for this meal. :confused3

After breakfast we headed to Nemo, there was about a 15 minute line, but we didn't mind because that queue is so much fun! Michael loved this ride last year, this year he loved it even more! He has become a huge Nemo fan and was really excited during the ride.

Once Nemo was over we decided we had enough time to head over to Spaceship Earth. We were surprised to find a small line forming when we got there.

Michael decided to ride with me, which was a change because he only wanted to ride with daddy.

Then it was time to head to Soarin. I was going to go first, and I was nervous! I have a fear of roller coasters, anything that drops and dips will freak me out. I didn't know what to expect for Soarin because I had purposely avoided any details in TRs and other things. I loved it and of course I had nothing to worry about.:rotfl: John went next and while we waited I took Michael to see the Circle of Life. I wasn't expecting much but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The film is actually nice and it has a nice message for the kids.
We had one more thing to do before we headed to the World Showcase, Living with the Land. This was another first for us, and although we enjoyed it I don't see us doing this for awhile. ;)

Up Next: The Epcot Challenge Part II

I can't believe it's been over 3 months since I've been on the DIS boards! My computer had even logged me out. I promise to finish this TR soon. (I'm not even sure anyone is reading anymore!). I hope to post an update tomorrow.

After a fun and productive morning in Future World it was time to hit the World Showcase. In the past we have always started in Canada, but this year we decided to try something new so off to Mexico we went.

Once we got to Mexico we stopped at Cantina de San Angel. We ordered Nachos with beef, and a Margarita. Michael got a lime paleta. The nachos and the Margarita were both good. The paleta was really big and not as sweet as I thought it would be (which is a good thing). The CM who took our order offered to hold on to the paleta until we finished our nachos that way it wouldn't melt while we ate. I have no idea if they do this for everyone but I thought it was a really nice touch.

After we ate we went into Plaza de los Amigos, we looked around for awhile. John wanted to go into La Cava de Tequila and try some tequila, I wasn't so sure that was a good idea. It was so hot outside and we had a lot drinking and eating left to do. We decided to wait to try that on another trip. We did ride the Gran Fiesta Tour. Michael was really into it and I thought it was really cute. I'm not sure it would be a must do for us, but it does offer a nice break.

As we headed into Norway I was telling Michael that there was a ride that had a troll. I asked him if he wanted to try it out and of course he did. So we decided to ride Maelstorm before we had anything else to eat. This was another first for us. The ride wasn't a walk on we had to wait about 20 minutes but it wasn't that bad. There was a older couple in front of us and they were arguing about something and that was a bit annoying. Mostly because they were being loud, rude, and nasty to each other. :confused3 I understand that sometime when people are tired they become irritable and cranky, but please be aware of your surroundings before you go on a tirade. I was so happy when were finally able to board our ship. I found the ride to be a lot of fun. I'm not a big fan of roller coasters, this one is just my pace :rolleyes1. Michael liked it too and I have a feeling that he will really like roller coasters so I know the time will come when I have to face my fears. :scared1: After the ride we headed down to the gift shop and we looked around for a bit.

We didn't bring any Viking gear home with us but he sure did enjoy playing around with them.

After the shop we ended up at Kringla Bakeri we had the school bread (of course after all the hype I had to try it) and a Carlsberg Beer.

Believe the hype people! That school bread was delicious! I had a taste of the beer it was ok, I was more than happy to let John have the rest of it.

As we headed into China we ran into these guys:

:goodvibes

We decided that we were still a bit full from our previous snacks so we didn't get anything to eat at China. Which meant that once again we did not accomplish the Epcot Challenge but we were just fine with that.

Mulan was out but we didn't wait in line for a picture. When I snapped that one a young couple with "Just Married" t-shirts were approaching her and she was saying "I think the matchmaker made an excellent match" :)

100_3684.jpg

This Dragon was so cool! Every few minutes steam would come out of his mouth and if you were close enough you would feel a mist.

On our way to Germany we walked by a small space dedicated to Haiti

100_3687.jpg

I really liked this, I wish they would have made smaller versions to sell I would have loved to bring one home with me.

100_3691.jpg

Peppers, these things are hot!

It was very interesting and exciting to me. My parents are Dominican and the Dominican Republic and Haiti share an island. Many of the plants and flowers that they had in this garden were familiar to me. It reminded me of when I was younger and would go visit my grandparents. In addition to the garden the had a small drink stand and I just couldn't resist.

100_3693.jpg

It was mango flavored rum, mixed with coconut rum and something else. It was great!

UP NEXT: The Epcot Challenge Part III

Hey all, I just wanted to let everyone know I'm ending this report here.

I've been so busy trying to wrap up grad school that I have completely neglected this TR.

At this point my heart isn't really in finishing it for various reasons. One of them being all the time my practicum class is taking. The other being that I am in the process of planning this year's trip and I just felt this was sort of hanging over my head.

I will post my food pics on the food pic thread.

Thank you for reading along and sorry for cutting it short! :)
