"Leave them alone they are just lovin' each other"A 5/12 TR *Updated 12/30*

I realized I missed the last part of my notes from our DTD day because I was focusing on my pics. I forgot to mention that we wanted to get our Disney Rewards card with our points before the trip but things did not exactly work out. So we decided to pick it up at DTD, it was very easy there is a place right next to BBB where you can go and ask for card. They just give you an empty card and you have to call visa and have them add the points but the whole thing took about 10 minutes.

Also here are some Pictures of Michael dancing at RR:

Day 2 - May 7th,2012

So we left off with us going straight to bed after our very pleasant arrival day. I was looking forward to getting some sleep and much needed rest. I didn't... I kept tossing and turning. I did get some sleep just not as much as I had hoped. Clearly Michael didn't have my issues:

I was up at 7 and my goal was to have us on the DHS bus by 8. We had 8:20 reservations at Hollywood and Vine. My notes say we were running about 10 minutes behind, but it didn't matter in the end we made to DHS a bit early.

It looks so sad that empty!

I made the reservation at Hollywood and Vine for two reasons: a. we had decided to get the deluxe dining plan and b. Michael loves Disney Jr. The minute we walked in I was glad we decided to have breakfast there. Michael was so excited he didn't want to sit. For those of you who don't know or haven't been in a while, the characters there are June, Special Agent Oso, Jake, and Handy Manny. Michael was very excited to see Jake because he's developed this love of all things pirate recently. The food was ok, breakfast is pretty safe and very hard to mess up. For anyone who is interested I definitely recommend the breakfast over the lunch.

My plate, bacon, oatmeal, hard-boiled egg, and watermelon.

After breakfast we went straight to Disney Junior on Stage. This was a big hit with Michael last year, and this year it was even better. This is such a great show and if you have kids who enjoy any of the Disney Jr. shows they will love this. It's about 15 minutes long and runs about every hour or so. We were lucky and were able to get make the 9:00 show.

Once we were done I ran over to get our TSM fastpass, after last year I had to make sure I finally got to ride.
IMG_1556.jpg

We saw some people gathering and a character handler and asked who was going to be appearing... it was Handy Manny, and Jake there were only about 2 families online so we joined the queue.

Welcome!

Thats one of my favorite parts, is watching him interact with characters. IMO thats what makes it worth it.

Hello all! Just wanted to say that I haven't abandoned you all. Things have gotten very hectic around here, but I will be adding another update this week.

Some happy news, I passed all my NYS certification exams for my teaching certificate. I have one more to go for my Special Education certificate but I'm done with 3 out of 4. This means I should be student teaching in the Fall and I can't even begin to tell you all how excited I am! It also means that I will be done with my Masters and graduating next May, God willing.

Now for the sad news, my grandpa who has been in nursing home for the last five years due to a stroke that left him unable to eat, speak, and walk has taken a turn for the worse. Now this is something we knew was going to happen but it's still very sad. His body started rejecting the feeding tube a few weeks ago, and the doctors say they can place a new tube but it would mean making a new hole. My grandfather doesn't want that, so the alternative is to feed his body nutrients and morphine through and IV. That is what they have decided to do.

As I said earlier it has been pretty crazy around here due to all of the above. Now that I am done with school till the end of August I should be a bit more relaxed.

After meeting Jake and Manny we still had some time till our FP time so we stopped for a frozen lemonade (not the minute maid one, but the drink) and that started a new addiction. This became our favorite drink and we searched for it actively in each park whenever it was hot and we needed something cold.
We took in the sights of Pixar Place while we enjoyed our cup of deliciousness, and waited for our time. It was about a 10 minute wait, but once our window opened we walked right on for our very first time on TSM. If you read my TR last year you would know that this was a very big deal for me! Well it was worth the wait I loved that ride! It was so much fun, I was laughing the whole way.

IMG_1559.jpg

These guys are so much fun!

IMG_1560.jpg

That's a cup of happy right there!

After TSM it was time for another first, The Little Mermaid. This was very cute! I was singing along the whole time. If you have girls who are princess lovers this is a must!

*During this trip I fell victim to baby girl fever! It all started at BBB @ DTD there were all these cute little girls getting all dolled up, I whispered to John I want girl! The second time I felt that way was during the Little Mermaid, John and Michael seemed to be enjoying the show but I could help thinking this would be so nice to see with a little girl. There were tons of moments during this trip that had me thinking its time to start thinking about baby#2, more on that later.*

After the Little Mermaid it was almost time to get lunch but before we decided to go on the Great Movie Ride. It's been a while since we went on it. It wasn't a good idea, Michael got very scared at some parts, and while he didn't cry he was hiding behind me the whole time.

Then it was lunch time so we headed to Sci- Fi Dinner. We were about 15 minutes early and they were running behind. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated and by then we were all a bit cranky.

IMG_1572.jpg

100_3624.jpg

Although, you couldn't tell by looking at these pictures :)

I ordered the:

IMG_1576.jpg

Strawberry Milkshake

IMG_1578.jpg

Onion Rings to Share

IMG_1579.jpg

IMG_1580.jpg

Grilled Chicken Sandwich with Cucumber Salad

John ordered the:
Potato Skins, The Angus Chuck Burger with Fries

Michael had the:
Salad, hot dog, and the Sundae

Because they forgot and I was so busy taking pictures of my food we have no pictures of their food. Now we found the food here to be good. The problem was the service. It was horrible! We waited about 30 minutes for our food and then something wasn't right. John ordered a refill of his lemonade and that took 20 minutes. It was just bad! John and I ended up not ordering any dessert only because we didn't want to wait any longer. We asked for the bill and that took another 20 minutes. We spend 2 hours at Sci-Fi, most of it was spent waiting. Our server must of realized it as well because she made a joke about how it was really good she was only working half a shift because she was all over the place. :rolleyes2

After Sci -Fi Michael kept asking to go to the pool so we decided to take a break. There was one more thing we wanted to do before heading back and since the wait time was like 10 minutes so off to Star Tours we went! John went first. I while I waited to swap, Michael and I went to the gift shop. I was trying to stretch out the time by really looking around. Michael spotted the Disney Racers display and it was all he needed. He recently started collecting Hot Wheels so when he saw these he wanted them all. I told him he was allowed to pick one so he choose:

IMG_1582.jpg

;)

As I was paying my phone started buzzing, it was John he was done and it was my turn. :cool1: I loved it! It was so much fun so much better than before. I love that everyone experiences a different ride; John and I were comparing our rides and I have to say mine sounded much better;). While John and Michael waited for me they took in a Jedi training session that was going on, and it seems like it's something we might be doing in the future because Michael could not stop talking about the "Black Robot" :rotfl:

After we headed back to CBR, Michael took a brief nap on the bus but once we were at the hotel he was all about the pool.

COMING UP NEXT: A quick splash, followed by a thorough soaking!

Great update! :goodvibes

TSM is always so fun! Sorry your lunch took so long. We have had that happen to us at WDW several times, although never at Sci-Fi. IDK why sometimes it seems to take the servers forever to do any little thing!! :crazy2: And I hate when all you want to do is get out of the restaurant and you have to wait 20 minutes for them to get your bill and then take it to the register and all that. You food looks good at Sci-Fi anyway!! They have the best milkshakes. ::yes::

My boys used to love those Disney Racers! You will definitely want to let Michael do the Jedi Training - it's so fun!!

So sad to hear about your grandpa. It's sad when someone so close to us is suffering.

Congrats on your exams!!!:cool1: I hope all goes well with your Special Education one as well!!:cheer2:

UPDATE:

My grandpa is still holding on, it is very sad to see but at the same time it's amazing how strong he is.

I got my student teaching placement which means I will be kissing my banking job good-bye after 5 long years in August!

Great update! :goodvibes

I really just think our server was overwhelmed it was very busy in there that day. The food was good, we would definitely go there again.

We left off with us back at CBR and Michael really wanting to go into the pool. I was really trying to get him to take a nap since it was about 2 in the afternoon. We had done pretty much all we wanted to at DHS and were planning to head back there around 5 for dinner and Fantasmic.

Michael was not having any of it and really just wanted to go swimming so we headed to the quiet pool. It was very empty, just one other family and us. We had been at the pool for about half an hour when it started to rain; we waited around a bit for the rain to end but it became clear the rain wasn't going anywhere so we went back to our room.

100_3628.jpg

Waiting for the rain to end.

We took our time showering and getting ready to head back to DHS, and I even had time to start writing this TR! The forecast was for on and off storms so I packed our hoodies but we weren't worried.

When we headed out the rain had stopped, the DHS bus arrived at our stop just when we did so we were off to DHS in no time. Michael of course fell asleep the minute the bus took off and slept for quiet awhile. Since Michael was sleeping in his stroller John and I decided to look around the gift shops. As we were exiting one of the shops there were some performers right outside and the commotion woke Michael up, and boy was he cranky! :scared:

100_3631.jpg

One of my favorites!

We headed straight to Mama Melrose and found it very, very crowded. We had 6:30 reservations and it was 6:17 when we arrived, of course they were about 20 minutes behind. We found a seat next to the pizza maker and watched him do his thing. I really would have not minded the wait if Michael had not been so cranky. We kept trying to find things to entertain him but nothing was really working... finally we were called and off we went.

We started with the Calamari for Two:

IMG_1588.jpg

Sorry about the messy picture we completely forgot! This was good we really liked the sauce on the plate. There were two other sauces that we didn't really care for.

The children's meal comes with a soup so Michael had the Minestrone:

IMG_1587.jpg

Michael ate some of this but was really just looking forward to his pizza!

John and I both had the Wood-Grilled Tuna:

IMG_1592.jpg

I really liked this, the tuna was delicious! John was not a big fan of the risotto but he liked the tuna.

Towards the end of our meal right before dessert I noticed that a few of the people that were currently being seated looked drenched! So I asked John if he had remembered to cover the stroller with rain cover when he parked it. He says "I'm not sure" (which after 5 years of marriage I understand to be: no) so I headed outside and find that yes, it is in fact pouring and our stroller is looking very lonely and wet:sad1: There wasn't much to do I covered it to prevent any further soaking and headed back in to finish dinner.

Michael had a Spaghetti and Meatballs cupcake, which was really cute:

IMG_1594.jpg

John had the Chocolate Cannoli Cake:

IMG_1596.jpg

Lastly I had the Panna Cotta:

IMG_1595.jpg

The desserts were all very delicious. Michael had a hard time eating all of his cupcake and John was more than happy to help him out. I couldn't help noticing as I looked around that John wasn't the only dad helping out his kid(s) with dessert. :rotfl: This was our first time eating here and I enjoyed it. I've read mixed reviews about this place and was happy that we all enjoyed our meal. I would gladly eat here again.

It was still raining when we stepped out of Mama Melrose so we had to figure out that to do with the stroller. Once that was done we started walking towards Fantasmic, we quickly had to make a pit stop for Lightning McQueen and Mater. I don't have any pics of this meet and greet because it was raining so hard, but I do have some PP ones I just have to get those pictures on here. Once we were done with the M&G we kept walking and it just kept raining harder and harder. My hoodie was drenched and everything was just wet. None of that mattered to me because we were on our way to see Fantasmic which is my favorite night-time show.

John however, did not feel the same. He asked me if I wanted to get some ponchos... here's the things with the ponchos. They really don't bother me on other people, but I find them annoying. Mostly because when I was in Marching Band in HS we used to wear them for parades if it rained and it was such a pain! The rain was pretty bad at this point so I gave in and we all became proud owners of Disney Ponchos.

The crowds at Fantasmic were very low mostly because of the rain, but also because that was the 1st of 2 shows that night. We quickly found our spot and waited... and waited finally an announcement came on that the show was delayed because of the weather. Fifteen minutes later it was still raining and an announcement was made that the performance had been cancelled. We had two options stay for the later show or just head back to CBR. We entertained the idea of staying for a bit but eventually decided to just go back to our room.

I was disappointed because this was our only scheduled DHS day, we didn't even have the hopper option this time around. John felt bad as well because he knows how much I love the show. Michael made the best of the situation and made good use of his cotton candy:

IMG_1597.jpg

Cotton Candy Pillow!

I don't know if the second show was cancelled as well, but it stormed all night long so in the end I know we made the right choice.

Up Next: The Epcot Challenge!

Sorry your night didn't end as well as planned...but hey, now you have a really cool souvenir in the form of a Disney Poncho!!:lmao:

Well, somehow I had missed an update before this last one. I had to catch up.

Love those onion rings at Sci-Fi. We usually tend to stick to the burgers, but that chicken sandwich looks pretty good.

Never tried Mama Melrose-but my sister's family loves it.

Sorry your evening didn't turn out as planned. I've had that happen on previous trips too. I love Fantasmic, and would hate to have to miss it too!
