This is the new large brownish, monolith looking things in front of Epcot where you pay money to get a thumbnail size black and white picture thing.

I know some of you have put your pictures on there, and I don't mean to upset anyone, but honestly I think they look more like a war memorial, the pictures are barely recognizable from what I've seen and so tiny, I wonder whats the point.

I also wonder if people who don't know what it is go up and think "are these people dead?"

Am I the only one who thinks this way?

I voted "Love it," but I'm kind of torn right now.

If I remember correctly, it was only supposed to originally be during the 100 Years of Magic that you could get tiles. They're still selling the darn things.

Kind of takes away from the magic of it, IMHO. The draw for my family was that we would always remember our special trip in 2001, with 100 Years of Magic and all the other troubles in the world, our happy days of our trip would be remembered.

I don't know, the fact that they're still shilling them gets to me a bit.

I'm interested to know what others think.

Nope, I hate them too. Not the idea of them, just that they could have been MUCH more tastefully implemented in a still public place in a way that they would have still been visible, and maybe, large enough to tell what they are. at any distance it just looks like a filthy sculpture in serious need of a cleaning. what would have been wrong with bricks or something?

I also hate the giant stickers they put on the base of Spaceship Earth to accentuate it. They look like they are just taped on cardboard.

Agreed, I have no problems at all with the tiles in front of WDW with people's names, they look fine and are readable too.

Hate it and refer to it as the graveyard. I think it looks like a memorial for people that have died. I've heard so many kids ask their parents, "are those people dead?"

Because we're on there and I love being part of Epcot. :) And I don't mind that they're still being sold, perhaps that means the tiles will stay up longer. And who knows, some of those people probably are dead, but at least they had the opportunity to LEAVE A LEGACY at Epcot.

We left a Legacy on our honeymoon, so I like them, even thought they look a little "memorial-ish." :)

I hate it. It spoils the entrance to Epcot wish they would remove it. It makes the entrance look like a junk yard.

A real eye sore if you ask me - Stonehenge Jr. We used to love going in the front entrance of Epcot. Now we go through the Int'l Gateway and avoid it. I think the sidewalk memory "bricks" in the MK a far better legacy idea.

Sorry, it looks more like a memorial garden or a grave yard to me rather than the entrance to a theme park.

Actually, they've been there since the Millennium Celebration in 1999. I like the idea of Leave a Legacy, but would not spend the money, personally. It's a similar concept to the bricks at MK, but I like the bricks moreso. Honestly, other than wanting to retake DD's picture in front of Spaceship Earth like we had in '99, I had no interest in LAL, other than getting beyond it and in to FW.

And the bad thing about it -- it doesn't seem like the kind of thing they could change -- I guess they are there forever! :crazy2:

I have always loved LAL and never thought it looked like a graveyard (maybe I just don't dwell on death much).

LAL was originally put into place in 1999 as part of the Millenium Celebration. The agreement you get when you buy a tile states that LAL will be on display somewhere at WDW for at least 20 years. Of course, they could move it to another place on-site if they wanted, but I think they get better sales with it installed at the entrance to a park.

I never been to Epcot before the LAL so I am pretty used to it. I do think it clutters the entrance. Perhaps, they could move it somewhere else.

I am also not a big fan of the "Memorial" I do like the bricks and wish they would sell them again.

I love LAL. DH and I have our picture on it and every time we visit I have to look for it. Makes me smile. When we are back in Wisconsin, makes me feel good that part of me is still at WDW, smiling at all the people walking through the gates. Does it have a memorial look? Yep, but that's OK. It is a memorial to all the people that loves WDW.

Hate it! :cat: the pictures are distorted and funny looking. its a big eye sore and a complete waste of space. they should move it somewhere else. (like the bottom of the lagoon!)

I agree with most everyone - it's an eyesore that looks like a memorial and has ruined the entrance to Epcot. But, I must add that the tiles aren't the only thing - that giant hand and EPCOT over Spaceship Earth is ridiculous. I thought they would take that down after the 2000 year celebration. I guess it cost too much to remove it, I don't know. It would be great if the spaceship earth vehicles could take me back in time to see the original Epcot entrance. Spaceship Earth doesn't need any adorning because it's amazing and beautiful all by itself.

All I can say is thank God they got ride of the castle cake from '96. GEEEZ.

As my grandfather use to say, "If it ain't broke don't fix it."
