Least expensive things at Disney World.

Specifically at AKL, there are 2 free tours, one of Boma and Jiko, the other at Sanaa. At the end of both tours they give you (or at least did when I went on them in the last couple years) a free appetizer at the end. At Sanaa it's the bread service, and since I was the only one on the tour, I had the bread service for dinner with a drink. Another inexpensive souvenier at some DVC resorts is the ceramics class in the community hall. At AKV-Jambo, I made my own coffee mug that I use regularly
How do you find out the time for tours at AKL? that sounds wonderful

I was staying at AKL, so I asked at the front desk. I'll bet that if you called the hotel, or called the restaurants, they'd be able to tell you that time. Otherwise, I THINK they're around 3:45, so you could wander over there to the podium in front of the restaurant and say "I'm here for the tour". No advance sign-up necessary (unless they changed that). The tour of Boma and Jiko was at a different time during the week from weekends because the restaurant opened at different times, and they wanted to make sure the tour was through before opening.

I got an Olaf one and I was SO excited...and then came home and realized that my car doesn't have an external antenna.

I don't know if the parks still sell them, but a few years ago I got a package that had a Superman-like Mickey antenna topper that came with a suction cup with a spring on it. I stick the suction cup on my dashboard, and I use that for all of my antenna toppers. My car does have an external antenna, but it's way too fat to fit in the tiny holes on the toppers. This way someone would also have to actually break into my car to steal them, not just grab it off my antenna.

Before I found that suction cup antenna topper thing for inside the car, I considered sticking florist foam in a small cup with a thin dowel rod stuck into it to leave in one of the unused cupholders of my car to display my antenna toppers on.

Just a note for the pressed pennies, we found these by accident during our first trip and love them. Did some research for this years trip and found out that the shiny new pennies actually make weird streaks due to a change in the metal content. I have a bunch of old wheat pennies that are all copper and have polished some up to take with me. As for the m&m tube, someone suggested you stack them 2 Q & 1P to be prepared, I am using that trick. Also, I heard in Tommorowland they have some that do dimes, will BOLO for them.

If you google it I found a website that has printouts of all coin pressed machines and what they have on them and where they are located!

There used to be a 5 for $20 wall in Marketplace Fun Finds in DTD (sadly it is gone!)
Nighttime animal viewing at AKL is free
Poly has free hula lessons
Resort nighttime movies
I find most CS prices very reasonable for the portion size
Club Cool in Epcot is free and refreshing
Shaved ice in Japan
Resort Arcades, DH can make $10/$20 last a reallllllllllly long time in there!
Marina boat rentals are pretty reasonably priced and great fun

-I love doing the photopass and creating our Disney photocalendar for $25, we have one every year.
-I have done the kids meals before when we were not on free dining
-dh and I split the nachos @ t-rex that's on the appetizer menu for $15, there huge
-we take our bottled water in the parks
-we do get an ornament every year but they are not much
-we enjoy the boat taxi rides everywhere
-ride the boat taxi down to POR riverside and watch bob @ the river roost and have appetizers, good price

My family loves the large cheese pizza at pop and AOA food courts. $13.99 plus tax feeds our whole family of 4 for dinner! If we get sides or a drink it is still usually around $20.
This trip we did pressed pennies-- great deal-- and SOTMK. Kids loved these!

Another vote for the first haircut package at the barber shop. $18 at home is how much we pay for my son's regular haircut, also the price we paid for the first haircut package that included the haircut plus the certificate, the pixie dust/hair keepsake, and of course the ears (not to mention the experience).

Couture in mk near the castle you can get pixie dusted for free. Have to be 3 or older. My girls loved getting it and even though I can put glitter in their hair it's different Bc "the fairy god mothers helper" did it. Cheaper than paying for bbb every trip. Although I did give in and they did the bbb last trip. If you have girls you can easily do their hair like they do it and they can feel like a princess. They sell the tiaras and clips in the couture store and other stores.

PONIES!!! Ok, that sounds scary. But ponies! We did that today (thanks Dis), and our man loved it. $8.00 for an "adult leads the pony" ride with some of the nicest, most well groomed and well-behaved little ponies I have ever seen. They are what I call bomb-proof and kid-friendly ponies. Kids have to be able to hold onto the saddle/pommel horn themselves. They weren't your country fair/pony-go-round set up, but happy guys with a free lead. And there was no line - we just walked right up!

After that, we visited the big barn, and he got to see the big draft horses. That's a perfectly free thing there. Since they were washing the horses when we went in, we got to see the big guys up close. Our boy was wowed by them (so was my husband!). I've been around horses most of my life, and the size of those draft horses never fails to amaze me!

Play the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom...the card packs are free!

The stores have small, foam Mickey ear "ornaments" I guess you'd call them on chains that are different characters; I think they were only .25.

The passport books for stamping at Epcot are free.

Agent P at Epcot is free too.

We have purchased beach towels as souvenirs. I don't recall the actual cost, but they weren't outrageously priced, are high quality, and they seem to be unique to the parks as I have never seen the same designs offered off-site. It one of the few souvenirs that actually gets used after you return from your trip. I bought ours several years ago and they still look great. I also had an additional discount by purchasing with my Disney Visa.

Shortly after I posted that, I ended up totaling my car. While that totally sucked, my new car DOES have an external antenna, so as soon as I find where I put Olaf, he's going to be going for a ride.

We were pleasantly surprised with the hot chocolate sold in travel mugs by vendors during the 2013 Christmas season MSEP parade. $5 for the drink and mug/lid. I still use that mug a couple of times a week.

yes! I collected those from different parks one trip. Surprisingly affordable considering the cost of a drink in a disposable cup! I think it's one of the best cheap souvenirs around.

Make sure you kiss him goodbye.Chances are some fool will snatch him right off your antenna.

Oh, I'm sure. I'm not expecting him to last long, especially when I have to park on the street and our neighborhood, though certainly a few steps up from our previous one, isn't the greatest. But I will enjoy him for however long he does last.

2 quick suggestions based on prior experience:

1. M&M tubes now come in different sizes, make sure you get the correct size or the quarters won't really fit. Also, over time they don't seal as well, and the tube rattles when you shake it. Having tried the tube, I'm back to just my regular coin pouch: more compact and quiet.

I gave up on the m&m tubes because they don't stay sealed. Now I save and use prescription bottles. Not as "cute" but much more functional. I do like the idea of putting cotton balls inside so they don't rattle as much.

I just heard that they're phasing out the hand-cranked penny-mashers with electronic ones and the price will now be $1.01!

I sure hope this isn't true. :sad1:

So so sorry! That really does suck! Glad you weren't seriously hurt and I hope you find your Olaf!
