Least expensive things at Disney World.

They're a little more expensive than the items in the above posts, but I was surprised at how affordable the cutout silhouettes are (I want to say it was like $8 per person).

Our favorite souvenir is still the Pressed Penny....for 51 cents! We have a book that we stick them in (I think that was about $8?) and when the kids were little they used to love running around looking for the machines everywhere.

Hmmm I might have a new 'thing' to collect now. Will have to figure out where to get a stash of pennies

Ask your bank for a roll, and tell them you want shiny ones, they can usually hook you up with some brand new ones straight from the federal reserve.

And here's a hint: find some mini m&m tubes, they are perfect for holding the quarters, pennies and pressed ones!

All my ideas have been used: water, SOTMK cards, pressed pennies. I also like the bedtime turndown service cards at GF. They are on beautiful paper and look great framed or in a scrapbook. We also received stickers from several CMs, and a great Mickey illustration in the mail when we came home. Maybe because it was our first trip? - not sure.

Unfortunately I'm in the UK, so can't do that. And the last time I tried to do something simple at a US banki was told they couldn't deal with me as I wasn't their customer. But I may get brave and pop into a local branch once I get there and see if they'll sell me a few penny rolls

Love the M&M tube idea

A haircut isn't a bad deal for kids. Obviously, I wouldn't get my haircut there. My daughter had her first haircut there. For $18, you get a pair of ears that say my first haircut, a certificate, a lock of hair, and a haircut. If it isn't your child's first haircut, the cost is $15. I think the experience is cool.

You can also clean the pennies after they have been pressed. I actually don't clean any of mine as I like the look of them weathered.

Our local bank is wonderful about helping get quarters and pennies to take with us. Also if you do, clean the pennies ahead of time with vinegar or ketchup. That will be beautiful and shiny when they are pressed instead of smashing the tarnish into the design.

If you'd like to bring your own change over, a 5p coin should fit in the penny slot of the presses. Otherwise, just about any gas station, supermarket or convience store in Orlando should be able to sell you a roll of pennies.

You can also buy rolls direct from Disney! I always go to Guest Relations or one of the shops and ask to change 50 cents for a roll of pennies and then I ask to change for a roll of quarters. I've never been turned down at GR and only a few people have turned me down at the shops.

During Christmas the campers at Fort Wilderness Campground decorate their RVs and campsites with lights that rival those found in just about any neighborhood. We combine a boat ride to and from MK/FW and are able to enjoy a wonderful little side trip that has lots of character!

Seconded! This year I am going to bring them home and make some jewelry with them:

Also big fan of getting a low cost item from one of the stores and turning it into an ornament for that year. Use a sharpie and someone with good handwriting to put the date on there for you.
CodeGoddess, thank you SO much for this!! I have one of these made from (sorta) rare coins that a very close friend had made for me when I was a kid. I can't believe I never thought to make one of my WDW pressed pennies!!!!! You'd better believe DD and I will both have one soon! Thank you again for sharing!!!

You guys are great. Thanks so much!

Me and my DD have been saving small mementos from our current trip and when we get home we are making a memory box. I will cover the box (shoe box) first in a Disney wrapping paper then I will print off photos and we will cover the box. There are tons of little freebies the kids get a meals and through out the visit you can fill up a little time capsule.

Next time I will do pressed pennies. Normally, My photos and memories are my takeaways from WDW. I also make jewelry and have new ideas. Thanks PP.

The antenna toppers are cheap - around $4. I've had a bunch of them - notice I said HAD - they've all managed to disappear off my antenna!
Mine too.pretty sure they were stolen and not lost.soooo I'm now afraid to put them on.A kid might snap off my antenna to get it!

We really enjoyed pin trading. I bought a lot of 20 pins on ebay for $12. Gave each kid 10 pins and bought a lanyard on ebay for $7 each. The kids loved trading pins. Neither kids wanted to buy anything at the shops. Instead they just wanted to check out the pin boards. They also enjoyed going to different resorts to eat so they could look for pins. So for $13 per kid they had loads of entertainment and felt like they were buying something from shops when they were trading for pins. They came home with some really neat pins that they have displayed in their bedrooms and no gift shop souvenirs.
