learned a couple new studio tricks last week

We were at OKW in a studio last week and everyone knows how you only get a small ironing board. Well, we also had a lot of electronic stuff that needed to be on the table all week. So we set up the luggage rack and the ironing board fit perfectly over the top.

Also, we wanted breakfast in the room and I really wanted to have breakfast sandwiches everyday. Hmmmmm........... Did anyone know coffee cups are great for making scrambled eggs? One egg, beaten with a fork, little bit of butter, cooked on high for 1 minute, perfect! Add sliced ham and cheese on toast, a croissant, or a wrap it's a great way to start the day.

Also, the maid did not replenish plates, bowls, etc. on T&T day, so we lined the plates with a paper towel since we really only used them for sandwiches and not something messy anyways, and they stayed clean to reuse.

Studios are like camping, only better. You learn to make do with what you have to work with.

Impressive. That is a great idea on the eggs. Plato must have been thinking of DVC when he wrote "Necessity, who is the mother of invention".

OH........... Ya know, I mentioned this in my last trip report and nobody said anything. I thought we got a small ironing board with no legs cause we were in a handicap accessible studio.

You mean ALL studios have this? That stinks. Why would they have these instead of the regular ironing boards? I've yet to stay anywhere on property that had these.

It was not easy to iron on it that is for sure.

I just have to pop in here to say - "Put down that iron! You are on vacation!"

Who the heck wants to iron on vacation? Not me. I say bring a bottle of Downy wrinkle release (that stuff is the best invention ever!) and set yourself free!

Oh and btw, loved the idea of cooking eggs in a coffee cup. Good one!

The thing I dislike about the studios is the couch-as-a-bed thing. Seems like you really get less for more in this deal. Also, it would be nice to have some type of sliding partition between the "living room" and bedroom.

Just a few thoughts.

ITA! I don't even iron at home (unless it's for a very special occasion, LOL)! If you get the clothes out of the dryer in a timely manner there's no need.

I believe at OKW, all studios have two queen beds.

At SSR studios, they have full size ironing boards
"with legs"

I havent tried out the studios in the other resorts yet.

As empty-nesters, we really like the "sofa-bed" layout of the SSR Studios. We don't need the extra bed, and the extra room makes the Studio seem nicer than your typical hotel room.

yes - been cooking eggs in the cups - also other things - you can boil an egg in one too.

anything you can boil - you can do in a mircowave.

I love bacon from a micowave - much better than regular bacon (fried).

I never iron - sorry - I just don't - I have tried a couple of times - bad situation - so I just don't sorry.....

If the clothes aren't iron free I don't buy them....

Thats what I like about the studios is having a couch in the daytime, then a bed at night. I must agree with you about the partition, that would be wonderful. Just like the Disney Cruise ships.

I'm so glad to hear that there are others who don't own an iron -ok I own one, just don't use it! I know there are those of you out there that are obssesed with putting on a stiff shirt. but what happens when you sit down? You don't lean against the back of your chair?

Anyway - why don't we get more paper products and utensils in the studios? Doesn't housekeeping have a list on how long we will be staying and can't they give us 4 things per day until the next T&T? I don't like to steal from the food courts so we have bowls to eat our breakfast in the next day.

We have stayed at all the DVC resorts on site, in studios, 1 and 2 BR units. Everyone has had a full size ironing board. We have also been 'stuck' with HA rooms too, they also had full size boards.

Thanks Bill. I guess there are a few of the smaller size boards floating around. It was almost like a travel size we had in our OKW HA studio.

I didn't use it, but I do think that the ironing board in studio 6433 was a small one.

We have been in an OKW studio many times and the ironing boards have all been small. 1br and up has the "full size" ones. And OKW is the only resort that still has the small ones.
If it were not for the lap-top, digital camera and base, etc. we would have used the table to set it on. Since we couldn't I looked around for other creative ideas. It actually worked quite well and we put it in the corner still set up when done. Adults only so it was safe.

I don't iron either. DH irons my clothes each morning for work along with his own. I hate ironing and am so bad at it that I put more wrinkles in than I started with. He does a great job. But, I did iron some of my own clothes while there. Afterall, he was on vacation too.

msdis is correct, the OKW studios all have the small travel type ironing boards, unless that has changed during the last rehab cycle (I don't think so, though). And, no, they aren't the best thing to iron with. In fact, I've found using a folded towel on the counter top works better for some clothes.

I don't have too many clothes that need ironing, but a few pieces REALLY do need it.
