I wanted to try this restaurant because I'd heard tons of good things about it. However, I've read some not so good lately, too. I don't want to use 2 credits, so I booked a lunch. All of our other ADRs are for breakfast or late dinner as this is our preference. So, is the food really so great that I should be willing to eat at an hour that isn't my preference? Or do you have any suggestions to replace it with?

We've only managed to eat there once in our 5 trips...and each time we go we are never able to get any reservations...so I don't think a few bad reviews are slowing down the crowds.

We went on the free DP and have not paid OOP yet - so I don't recall the pricing.

will only be doing lunch from now on. we enjoyed our meal here and the atmosphere of the place is good too.

We did it on the DP when it was just a single credit. All of us enjoyed our meal. Have since decided it doesn't warrant 2 credits for us this time. We are going to do the Cape May buffet instead.

We did both lunch and dinner last Sept before it became 2 TS credits for dinner. We like the food and atmosphere. However, it's hardly likely that we will shell out 2 credits from our regular DP. Rather spend it for Cali Grill or Narcosses. We will do a lunch or two this coming trip and that'll be enough.

We did not have the dining plan, but chose lunch over dinner there last week. I was able to get ressies for both a dinner on Monday and a lunch on Tuesday. We cancelled our Monday ressie by about 6:00 p.m., and I'm sure someone was happy to get our 8:40. We had lunch at noon on Tuesday and actually preferred it to dinner. The size of the steak was a bit smaller than what we've gotten at dinner, but that was much better for us. We got the filet mignon with risotto and it was delicious. The steak was prepared perfectly. We also had the mussels as an appetizer. With that and the bread sticks, we were very happy. Couldn't do a dessert although they looked lovely.

Awww Le Cellier :worship:

It is my absolutly most favorite place to eat in all of Disney World. The Cheese soup with the pretzel bread is soo yummy and the filet with mushroom risotto(SP?) is enough to make you crave it later.

ADRs are super hard to get for it, so if you have it go for it and try it

I think LC is yummy. We had 2 lunches there last Aug and they were great. We all got the fillet. I am going back again this Aug. We are doing lunch because it's only 1 credit.

You made a good choice booking lunch. My meal last year was delicious. I had a chicken crepe for lunch and it came with french fries. I'm drooling a bit thinking about it right now lol!

I have to say that I was a little disappointed in LC when we went two years ago. It didn't live up to the hype for me. Small portions and no veggies to complement the steak and potato.....it looked blah on the plate and I was not overly impressed. It is certainly not worth 2 table credits on the DDP but maybe for lunch where it is only one credit it would be okay. I personally will not be returning.

3 months ago, I wouldn't have said LC was worth it. Then I gave it a chance and went to dinner there 3 times. The signature dinner was much improved. Some people have tried it and loved it. Others have tried it and don't feel that enough was improved. But I don't think it's fair to declare dinner is certainly not worth it without actually trying the new menu.

LC is good but we don't think its worth 2 credits. I agree, with others CA grill or a dinner show is worth more than LC. We do the love the Flying Fish or Jikos too. Good to know lunch is only 1 credit.

I liked it. :goodvibes
The only reservations available when I went were at 11:00 or something like that- whenever it opened. So we waited and when the restaurant finally opened everyone working there came to the front and sang the national anthem for us. :)

What I really remember are the breadsticks- they were delicious, especially the pretzel breadsticks. Honestly, my meal was A LOT smaller than I thought it was- (I thought I was getting a baked potato, steak and salad- well it all came together and I didn't get that much of any of them) BUT it was completely delicious and the breadsticks also made up for that. Desert was great too- maple creme brulee!

So if you don't mind forking out the cash, it's worth it.
Very delicious. :goodvibes

Oh, and it also helped that the waiter we had was really cute. ;)

If you're on the dining plan I think lunch is the way to go now. The Chicken Chipotle Sausage app is AMAZING! I love to eat there. In all the years I've never had a bad dish there. I'm actually having lunch there soon just for the Chicken appetizer. I can't wait!

I am not a real big fan of Le Cellier and equate it to an Outback or Longhorn. So my opinion would not be one of it being some great culinary experience, but instead another of the many restaurants in WDW that are average or just above average. I also think you are making a wise decision by going during lunch instead of dinner and having to use 2ts.

If myself am a steak eater and would not be interested in their other dishes; and because of this I'm sure my opinion is a bit biased, but I don't think Le Cellier is worthy of signature status (based on reading the new menu). However, it's not the only signature that don't measure up. :goodvibes

With all of that said, I have learned one thing: ignore the reviews you read on the DIS whether they be positive, negative, or somewhere in between. Try a place out and form your own opinions. I have gone to places that received negative reviews and enjoyed them (Ohana, WCC), and have tried places with rave reviews and was not impressed ( Le Cellier, Cape May).

Agreed with you on that. It's worth it to at least try something once for yourself and see what you think. Honestly, I didn't like LC when it was getting rave reviews on here. And now that I really like the improved dinner, most people here think it's not worth it. Similarly, a lot of people here really like Hacienda. I tried it once and hated it, despite being a fan of fresh Mexican food.

I even plan on going back to some of my least favorite signatures - Yachtsman and Flying Fish - in a month. Despite having not-so-great experiences there, I'm willing to give them another chance.

Definitely think that Le Cellier is worth a try! We went for lunch a year ago, and absolutely loved it. We weren't so lucky to get in last fall when we were there, but I hope to maybe be able to get luncheon ressies for this Nov when we return to the World!
Hope you enjoy if you decide to go.

Le Cellier has recently updated their menu to be more 'fine dining' and is now a Signature Restaurant.

That being said, I was not impressed with the previous incarnation. My wife & I preferred Coral Reef.

We've always enjoyed Le Cellier and have always been lucky enough to get an ADR there every trip. However, this past Dec I had two ADRs there--one for lunch and one for dinner. I was on the DxDDP. After my lunch I called to cancel my dinner three nights later. My lunch was almost inedible. The food there always seems to be salty, but that day I swear someone poured a whole box of salt into the risotto. I could not eat it. I took may two bites of it and maybe two bites of my filet and just pushed it away. The waiter didn't even ask why I didn't eat it, just came and took the plate away and handed me the dessert menu. That's the first time I've ever had a really bad meal there. I've had meals that were too salty, but nothing like it was that day.

Because of my past good history there I'm giving it another chance though. I didn't even try for an ADR there for my upcoming May trip, but did again get two ADRs there for my upcoming Sept trip (will probably only keep one though). We'll see if it's any better. For the Sept trip I'll be paying OOP, so if it's not great I'll definitely be cancelling the second ADR.lol

We LOVED Le Cellier. We went in 2008 for dinner (an early dinner) and had a wonderful meal. We ate and drank loads and spent loads of $$$ there. Hands down one of our best meals out. I am NOT a steak lover by any means - but this was to die for! So was the Cheese soup!

For our trip this Summer, OH wasn't paying me ANY attention in relation to our ADRs. My 180-day window came and went and still NOTHING from him. Then a few weeks ago he suddenly piped up and said "are we going to that place with the Cheese soup and strong beers?" :rotfl:

So I said nope, I couldn't get an ADR for us - we are a group of 9, possibly 13 and its a no go! Anyway, we chatted and my Sister and Brother (plus their families) said they weren't bothered due to the cost (I told them it was now a signature dining, hence tripled in price LOL) so I managed to bag an early dinner ADR for 4 of us, the same 4 who went in 2008 - a special dinner for us, minus my toddler! OH is SO SO excited and happy!
