How many times have you heard Pete call Kevin or John a " bitter old queen" ? At least once. No one had a problem there. Just take it tounge in cheek. Some things are said to get a point across.

I don't think that is the same. Giving friends a hard time is much different that what railing on Meg.

I don't like the things Meg has done, but MY OPINION is Pete has gone overboard on her. MY OPINION

You can list 1000 other things that compare, but I still think he is too hard on her by calling names. Others don't think so, so be it. Others think he is saying it in jest, ok. I just don't care for the tone and degrading comments. It doesn't mean I don't like Pete, won't listen to Pete and will rail on Pete. It just means I don't care for this particular comment....thats it, nothing more.

I fortunately know a little magic. It's a talent that I always have possessed......Oh sorry wrong thread xD

I agree 100%.

I also agree that people need to think about what they say on the boards. People complain left and right about rude people at the parks, but then come on the boards and call people idiots and so forth. Take a look at what your saying before you post, and if you could not say it to someones face then leave it be.

Just my 2 cents

Are we done with this topic yet? Seriously people, enough is enough.

I think the debate is over and we are now hijacking the thread!

PIE??

Right....you can make an argument against her actions without the name calling. I am also with you that this is not something that will make me stop listening to the Podcast. When you put out as much content as the crew does you are bound to have slip ups or mistakes or things you probably shouldn't have said. It happens.

As far as the price increases, I can't count the number of times in the past 5-7 years where Disney has done something that creates outrage right away with people saying that "this is it" or "Disney is going to destroy their business" and yet somehow people keep showing up and keep spending their money hand over fist.

I disagree with alot of things Disney has done and I sure don't like price increases but I don't think there has been any signs that Disney has done anything to destroy their business. Maybe this move is it, but so far Disney has not put that straw on the back of the camel which breaks it.

Judging by the number of 1st visit buttons I see on a daily basis, I would venture to say this is because the people who are complaining are the repeat visitors, which Disney does not seem to care about anymore. They KNOW they can suck in 1st time visitors and that is why they continue making these policies. They are arrogant, and eventually it WILL cause them problems. Disney is alienating their most frequent and most loyal customers. They have priced themselves out of many cast member visits too. They put restrictions on our measly 20% dining discount(with an automatic 18% gratuity mind you). We can't use it when it's busy and now we can't even use it at some places except late at night. Most CMs can't afford a 40 dollar dinner. That's a days worth of work for some of us. These are policies that never used to be in place, but have become the norm.

While I have no problem with his/her opinion....whether I agree with it or not, please understand that it has nothing to do with free speech or the first amendment.

I have included the text of the First Amendment:

Bill of Rights
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

I have always loved arguments about free speech - most people have no idea what it is they are talking about.

You are free to say anything you want. The DIS, or any other community, is not required to provide the forum for that.

When I was in charge of pretty much most Internet-related stuff at a state university, I had a student rant and rave about how I was violating his 1st Amendment Rights under the U.S. Constitution because I said he couldn't so something (I forget the details - I think he was selling something via a web page on his student account or something...which in fact may have been illegal by state law), and he couldn't understand that A) We weren't Congress passing a law that said he couldn't do it, and B) We were under no obligation to provide him all the resources for his use (commercial or otherwise) to "express himself" for free (well, his student fees). He actually went to the Dean...who laughed at him.

I know I may not have listened to as many podcasts as some others here (just started a few weeks ago), but I never have taken the "cleaning lady" name and comments to be taken this way. I take it as she is, as the top manager, the person responsible for cleaning all of the MONEY out of the guests pockets and also cleaning all of the EXTRA MAGIC out of the parks. Maybe I'm wrong, but that is the way I take it. :confused3

I actually took it as she started in housekeeping and worked her way up to where she is today(think Pete even refered to this in a podcast) and that she was not as qualified as someone in that position should be. Looking at it from that point of view I agreed with his view. You can not expect someone that is under qualified to do a job they know nothing about.

I was in Epcot that following Monday and you could have shot a gun and not hit anyone.

The parks are not crowded....especially during the week.

Yesterday WDW announced the availability of a Florida Resident Weekday Annual Pass:

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Florida residents can now put some more magic in their week with the newest ticket introduced at Walt Disney World Resort – the Disney Weekday Select Pass.

The new pass offers Florida residents more than 180 weekdays of fun at all four Walt Disney World theme parks, along with extras like special Passholder discounts, Passholder-only events and exclusive Passholder newsletters. All for less than a dollar a day!

Prices are $169 plus tax for guests ages 10 and above; $149 plus tax for guests ages 3-9.

Block-out days apply (Saturdays and Sundays, plus Dec. 19, 2009-Jan. 1, 2010; March 27-April 7, 2010; June 12-Aug. 19, 2010; Dec. 18, 2010-Jan. 1, 2011) and proof of Florida residency is required. Passes are non-transferable and valid for one year from date of issuance.

Guests can receive more information and purchase passes online at disneyworld.com/weekday.

And not to beat Paul's dead horse, but high park attendance does not itself mean WDW meets it profitability goals. Getting people into the parks (and resorts) is only the first step. They still have to buy the food and merchandise.

There it is boiled down. If the price was too high you wouldn't do it, and if the prices were too high for the parks nobody would be there. Based on how well Disney is doing in comparison to other places around it I would say Meg is doing a good job and shouldn't be called the "cleeeeaaaning lady". Even if WDW was suffering like the rest of Orlando it's still not right to be derogatory towards Meg.

As for attendance during mid-week in the middle of October I guess it doesn'tt surprise me that it's not busy. This hasn't traditionally been a busy time. Of course neither was the end of Sept. but I heard it was crowded. Now, when we get to the holiday season and the crowds are way down (and you'll be the one to notice it) then we might have a story.

Again....you have missed the point.

My post referenced nothing about Meg Crofton or whether she should be called the cleaning lady or not.

My post referenced another post reagrding her "allowing" us to hold our Toy Story Mania Party.

As I have tried to explain, repeatedly now....she did not "allow" us to have the party. Disney sold us the party at a very high price. There is a difference.

Could the wording be contrued as being technically correct? Yes, but the inference is that Disney showed us some sort of "good will".

People who purchase park tickets are "allowed" to enter the park. People who pay $14 are "allowed" tp park. People who are willing to pay their check are "allowed" to eat.

I'm hoping you see my point.

Also.....

You can take partial quotes and extrapolate anything you wish from them, but I am telling you exactly what I meant.

As for the crowded parks that you keep referring to.....I'm not sure where you are getting your info....but I dont believe it to be true.

Walt Disney World and the surrounding tourust area are hurting.

Hotel occupancy is at 54%

Disney themselves have stated that people are not spending money once they get to the parks.

Disney has offered free fining into the supposedly busiest holiday season. They have extended the "7 for 4" promo into the busy Spring break season. They are offering FL residents a "weekday" annual pass (Thanks Jack!). They are giving annual passholders 15 months instead of 12 for renewing. These are unprecedented moves and they certainly do not bolster your statements that the parks are crowded and that everything is fine.

Again.....please dont take what I have said as agreement or disagreement as to whether Meg Crofton should or shouldnt be called the cleaning lady.

I have not expressed my opinion and have absolutely no intention or need to do so.

This post is solely to point out that I see some opinions stated as facts and that your quoting me and then extrapolating from that quote, something I never said or intended to say.

And with this post....I am going to back out of this conversation.

I'm allergic to the smell of dead horse. :)

I see Disney trying to buck the theory of supply and demand. They have plenty of product but keep raising prices. They are raising parking prices even though there is no demand. This is what I have now dubbed, Meg-onomics.

Now that's brilliant :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2!
