Leaving on an earlier flight so that we could fit in some park time on our arrival day seemed like a great idea. Now that I've changed the flights, I've realized that we'll be arriving at LAX at 8:10AM on a Thursday.

How long should we expect the ride to take during rush hour?

Most of the traffic should be going the opposite way - from Orange County to LA. Also if you have luggage to collect and a rental car to pick up you will probably miss most of rush hour - should be winding down by 9 or so. You may even want to eat breakfast to wait a bit longer ( Disney designed the Encounter restaurant at LAX - not sure if they're open in the morning though).

I'm thinking an hour or so. You'll have the benefit of a carpool lane on the 105 freeway, so that helps. If you're taking the Disneyland Express bus or a shuttle then that would eliminate the hassle of picking up a rental car at LAX, and you can start your Disney day a little sooner.
