Thanks, this is helpful for us. We have a flight to Canada on a Monday morning at 7am and dropping off a rental car. I was planning on leaving the hotel around 4am but maybe we will try for 3:30-3:45

I would say to save on mess for your daughter since its just a weekend definitely don't rent a car. I saw on another post someone said you can sometimes find cheap daily rates and pickup up at LAX and drop off right near DL instead of using a shuttle or car service. I had a huge delay on my flight back to the east coast last year due to the car rental place taking a long time to accept the car back. We then also had an issue getting back to the airport from the car rental site due to construction.

One thing we decided to do was give ourselves plenty of time to get to/from LAX so we don't miss our flight (last year we were the last people to board, I was freaking out, we also had issues at the check in kiosk with the printer jamming but not able to reprint as we were checked in). Shuttles will take longer due to the nature of group transportation vs an individual car service but you are paying the price for the difference in time. The only thing I can really think of is they offer codes sometimes on Uber for your first time using (perhaps same with Lyft and other services). If your daughter and her friend have never used Uber they can each sign up and use the first time use code each way.
