Day Two - 1 September 2010

Woke up really excited at 6.30 am and bribed Eric to get out of bed with the lure of telly! He'd been in our bed since about 2.30 am but as he'd settled himself down we'd all had a good night's sleep and were raring to go.

For breakfast I had lucky charms, Andy had toast and Eric had a bit of each. We had showers and then headed out to Hollywood Studios at 9.10 am. We wanted to start with this park as it was Eric's favourite in February and he loved all the Playhouse Disney characters. We hung around the Playhouse Disney area until it was time for the first show at 10.30 am. Eric had fun running around the character areas and trying to get Rocket (Little Einsteins) to launch by shaking it!

We watched the show and afterwards Eric had his pictures taken with June and Quincy.

We went to the dining window next to secure a lunch ADR for Play and Dine at Hollywood and Vine restaurant. We got booked in for 12.15 pm and then headed back to meet Handy Manny.

Finally before lunch we watched the 11.30 am showing of the Little Mermaid which Eric loved.

Excitedly, we then rushed off for our ADR lunch with the 'steins. We were seated within about 5 minutes. The characters present were Leo and June from the Little Einsteins, Handy Manny and JoJo. Goliath seems to have been phased out since we were here in February as we didn't see him in the character area either. I think it's a real shame because he seems so very cuddly. As in February, Leo was the best character and so amazing at engaging with the kids. Eric was so taken with JoJo though and followed her everywhere. He also held her hand and danced round the restaurant with her twice.

Eric ate mac and cheese, sweetcorn, chicken nuggets, blueberry cobbler with custard and a chocolate chip cookie. As the kids food here is comfort food at its best, we had the same along with bbq meatballs (also on the kids buffet), corn bread, blt salad, caesar salad, garlic mash, braised beef stew, apple crunch with custard, key lime tarts and strawberry shortcake. I had two cokes, Andy had two diet cokes and Eric had apple juice. My only complaint about this place is that I wish you got coffee at the end of the meal like you do at Crystal Palace! Parents of toddlers need regular coffee! That said as long as they keep that amazing cornbread and mac and cheese coming I am a happy girl.

After lunch we went back to the Playhouse Disney area for more character greetings. Eric met Leo and Annie from the Little Einsteins. Annie took Eric for a walk and he held her hand and marched alongside her. I think this must have been a realy highlight for E as he talked about it for days afterwards. He keep saying "Annie, marching", very cute.

We went into the Animation area for more photos next. Eric and Andy got their picture taken with Lotso Hugging Bear (anyone else sing this to the tune of Macho, macho man? Hmm, just me then).

Eric also met the big cheese himself who was the first (and one of the only characters) to sucessfully relieve Eric of his dummy!

We went over to the character area for the Toy Story characters and met Buzz, but Eric was scared of him. Buzz is the first character he's ever been scared of, we don't know whether it's because he isn't fluffy like the rest but he was really not happy. He loves Toy Story though and will talk contently about Buzz - as long as he (or his likeness) doesn't come too close.

Eric was getting tired by this time so we popped him in the stroller and walked back to the car. He was asleep by the time we got there, about 3 pm, so we lifted him into the car and drove back to the Sheraton.

When we got back, Eric woke up so we went in for baths and coffees (well, Eric didn't have coffee, obvs). Whilst Andy was at Walmart the night before he had bought Eric a Thomas the Tank Engine DVD which had the engine, Duck, with it so Eric watched his DV and played with Duck.

We set off out again at 5.20 pm and drove to the Magic Kingdom. We got to the park at 5.50 pm via monorail and started our visit with a picture with Pluto who wasn't as friendly as he might have been.

We also had pictures with Tigger and Pooh by City Hall and they were much nicer.

And then Chip and Dale.

We took E's picture sat on the bench with Roy O Disney too.

We spent ages after that looking for somewhere to have tea - we tried the Friar's Nook and Columbia Harbour House but they were both closed so we ended up at Pecos Bill. Me and Andy shared a chicken salad and we got Eric a turkey sandwich but he didn't eat it.

After tea we went on the Winnie the Pooh ride before deciding to leave at 8.45 pm as Eric was very tired. We got in to the villa at 9.15 pm and Eric was already asleep. We put him in his pjs and into bed and he stayed asleep the whole time. Me and Andy had a couple of buds and then headed to bed by 11.45 pm.

Lovely day great pics too! It's amazing how they can like some characters and not others Rebecca doesn't like Pluto! Looking forward to reading more

Laur's,
You and Andy are be to commended for your sensitive and superior Disney Parenting skills. Eric's ability to parkhop and remain happy and raring to go for 12+ hours is a testimony to your hard work. Of course, his indoctrination in vacation day indurance began in utero, didn't it?

The photos where "Annie" (whoever she may be) takes your son for a walk are wonderful - actually made me wish my girls were young again! x

Thanks, Susan. I don't think Eric had any choice after being born into a family of Disney nutters!

Laurs, I love seeing Eric meeting all the characters, he is such a cutie, great day:goodvibes

It really is the most heart melting moment to watch "our little man" have the character experience and it shows the people who say "oh well at 2 they are too young for Disney" that it's not true.

Wonderful character interaction. I guess Buzz does look a bit scarey with his funny face.
