Laurs and Andys Halloween Happiness Trip Day 9
Laurs 28
Andy 29
Thursday 27 September 2007
We were up at 8.20 am with a wake up call from Mickey and Stitch with the Grim Grinning Ghosts singing in the background. We had a coffee in the room and got on with packing up our stuff for moving to the Pop Century.
Once we had everything pretty much sorted, we went over to Captain Cooks (food court) for breakfast. We had an orange juice each and shared a Mickey waffle with bacon and a banana.
We finished packing and left the room at 10.45 am. For the final time, Andy somehow managed to get two huge suitcases and a rather large bag into our rather tiny Mustang. I am reliably informed that we are not having a convertible next year!
Before we left the Polynesian, I did some filming around the Great Ceremonial House and Andy went to the shop for some last minute bits and pieces an ariel topper for a friend, a pencil for my auntie who collects them and a pink fluffy princess pen for a friends little girl. We dragged ourselves away from the Poly and drove to the Pop.
We checked in and were assigned a room in the 50s building on the second floor, room number 1234 how cool is that?! We dropped off our stuff in the room and then went down to Everything Pop (food court) to use the first credit of our free dining plan woohoo, free food!
We shared my favourite Pop dish nachos supreme with a side of jalapenos, a tye dye cheesecake and a fanta. After lunch we went back to our room for showers as we had a busy evening planned.
We left the Pop for MGM (last trip report I get to call it that in!) about 2.25 pm. We went first on my fave Star Tours and then the always funny MuppetVision 3D. I have a new favourite part in the preshow Gonzo, stop with this nonsense, Why, what nonsense would you like to see?! Apparently, only I found this funny though as I was falling over laughing on my own!
We queued for a picture with Darth Vader and a storm trooper, who was pretty frightening! I was ordered to stand where I was and thought it best to comply!
We also saw Tow Mater and Lightning McQueen but the queue for pictures was ridiculously long (bizarre when they cant even interact with guests) so we sneaked round the back of Tow Mater so I could have a pic instead.
We had ummed and aahed about doing the Great Movie Ride as we always (except once) got the gangster which was getting a bit tired. We decided to go for it anyway as we cant resist once were in the park and got the cowboy ride! I was so excited and it made the ride so much more enjoyable. Not only that, but for the first time in about 168 rides we got to sit in the front row, brilliant.
We had an ADR at the Hollywood Brown Derby with the Fantasmic package at 5.15 pm so we headed there next. We had a short wait to be seated and were given the menu to peruse whilst we waited. We ordered drinks first peach punch for me and white wine for Andy, I had decided that since we were getting free food I might as well try some cocktails for a change instead of having soft drinks to keep the cost down.
We shared the cobb salad starter (easily the best part of the meal), and chose the same main course and dessert pork rib with cheese fondue and cinnamon red cabbage (why is it always cinnamon totally minging!) and the Year of a Million Dreams dessert which was a flourless chocolate cake with a prince and princess white chocolate coin. It was so very sickly I couldnt manage to eat much of it, and we were both a bit fed up as the service had been atrociously slow. I know people rave about this place, but I dont think we will be back the food was too rich and fancy for me and the service was really, well, crap.
We made our way to our Fantasmic at 7.25 pm and had really good seats in the middle. We played some A-Z games and joined in with the Mexican wave to pass the time until the show started at 8 pm. It was wonderful as always and as always I was a little tearful when the princess boats came round. The only thing that confuses us both is why they place so much emphasis on Pocahontas, it doesnt seem to fit that well with the rest of the story.
After the show finished we looked round a couple of shops and then drove to Downtown Disney at 9.10 pm. We went to DisneyQuest but didnt last long as I had a run in with a cast member on the Buzz Lightyear ride. I had called him over to clear my cannon before the ride started and he shouted at me for putting balls in the car which of course I didnt, they were there when I got in. I told him I wasnt stupid and had played the game a gadzillion times before and slammed the car door in his face for good measure. I was so upset though that Andy had to take me outside to administer a large dose of nicotine.
After I calmed down, we went to Planet Hollywood to buy a t-shirt for one of our friends for his birthday and decided to head back to the Pop for a large drink (or two).
We got back about 10.30 pm and ordered a Hula Hoop for me and a Bud lite for Andy. The woman behind the bar asked to see our IDs and cheered me up loads by saying, Wow, Laura, I thought you were only 18. I told her she had made my actual year! We got talking to a nice couple from Scarborough for a while and then ordered another drink to go. We didnt make it to bed until 12.30 pm oooo, a late night!
