Laundry room issues

Here’s what we’ve seen so far at Riviera…
1. People drying their shoes after a rainy afternoon. I have seen signs in other DVC resorts telling guests not to do this but there isn’t a sign here.
2. Broken dryer (probably from people drying their shoes)
3. A family using every washer and nearly every dryer doing loads and loads of laundry.
4. People taking other people’s stuff out of the washer or dryer as soon as the time ends. No grace period whatsoever.
5. A lingering smell

Are there not enough washers and dryers for the guest in studios at Riviera? Also, does Riviera have any paid laundry rooms?

Only one laundry room with 3 washers and 6 dryers.😫

I just wear running / walking sneakers @ disney - even in Florida they dry on their own ( mostly mesh) Works well to have 2 pairs of "Disney only" in the OL. I see plenty of people in sneakers in the nicer restaurants not too many fashion rules in WDW.

I do hate the "spread out and take all of the dryers" people.

With RR being 100% declared now there should not be as many cash guests. But who knows who is worse, as may cash guests do not even know there is a laundry.

I set my alarm on my phone for 5 min before and grab the clothes - And I caught a guy taking them out @ BW while it was still spinning! We had words but I was not banned from property so all good..😄

The absolute worst - the darn tie-die shirts they make, they need to ban them from the laundry room.

So there's no pay for laundry rooms at the Rivera, they are all free to Rivera guest?

Is the RIV 100% declared now?

I thought that RIV was still about 12 to 18 months away from being fully declared?
We assume it’s fully declared as it’s only a few percent left. It’s gonna take 18 months to sell what’s declared.

I’m torn between between wanting to stay more days (the reason for staying in a studio) and having more space in a 1BR with a washer and dryer. Maybe we just need more points….
Be careful of the slippery slope that is "maybe we just need more points...."!! I completely understand the give and take with staying more nights or staying in the bigger room - not an easy choice.

I travel with Sticky notes. "I will return before this cycle ends or only a few minutes after. If you touch my clothes be sure I will return when yours are in and open the door to stop it every 10 minutes."

I really like the resorts with poolside laundries so you can monitor who is going in.

WD is a necessity, especially in sweaty and rainy FL! I wash daily and yes, my non Dis friends tease me in a friendly way. I still overpack, but the rules are:

1. Clothes to wear on the flight - usually jeans (heavy), shirts and fleece jackets to save room in luggage.
2. Minimum in luggage: 3 pairs pants or shorts, 5 (more for me!) tees and Aloha shirts, 4 undies/socks.
3. Sandals and extra pair of walking shoes.
5. PJ's, swim stuff etc.

This way, I can wash every day and have two complete, laundered outfits for both of us (plus extra undies and socks) for the afternoon shower/refresher outfit. Drinks get spilled, pizza always lands on DH's shirt cheese/sauce down. Soggy socks are stinky and uncomfortable.

Our son and DIL do laundry a couple times in a week in our villa. We are cheap and put them in a studio, Mom and Dad get the 1 BR!!

:beach:

And this might be the primary reason we have long graduated to 1BR units.......
Which is why we stopped using any public washer/dryer machines.

Someone walks in a “men’s room puddle” then gets back to the room and dries those shoes.
Why would I want to dry my clothes in that dryer?

Many years ago someone here actually posted they washed their kids poop diapers in the washing machine.

We have only used a Disney resort laundry room once - VGC last June. The main laundry room on the hotel side was completely down due to some problem with their system. So that just left 2 washers and 4 dryers in the DVC wing for the entire hotel.

We had to basically lurk and wait for the washer to open up. Took up way too much of our day. I'm hoping to get enough points to always stay in a 1-bedroom from here on at. Well, at least for our summer trips because we drive....so it's 3 days of driving each way, plus 5-6 days in CA. Lots of laundry! We'll be in a studio this December but flying and we don't plan on doing any laundry. Sure, it would be nice to pack lighter but not worth the effort to fuss with the laundry room and inconsiderate people.

Yeah if you're going to stay much longer than 3 nights the additional amenities of the 1 bedroom villa really are worth it I think.
