Laundry or not??

I assume the machines only take quarters. How much is a load of wash? Can you buy a roll of quarters from the front desk?

I say do some laundry as long as it doesn't interfere with all the fun stuff....

Ditto! DH and I always do laundry on our trips. We schedule a light touring day once or twice, depending on the length of our trip. We do laundry then and then the night before we leave. We've never found doing laundry interfered with the vacation in any measurable way, and we really enjoy 1) carrying less luggage and 2) not having to worry about piles of laundry when we come back.

That said, there's a few factors that influence our decision. One, we have to fly 1/2 to a full day to get to WDW (with at least one connection) so traveling light is important to us. Two, since there's only the two of us we don't have to spend a lot of money or time on laundry. Three, we work out almost every day and doing laundry is preferable to bathroom-sink rinse-outs, let alone to our natural sweaty selves!

We always do laundry at least once. :laundy: I hate having bags of dirty clothes sitting in the hotel room. And as others have said, I find doing the laundry late in the evening gives me time to chill out, relax and read a book. I also agree that less clothes in your suitcase leaves more room for shopping!

We always do laundry. When we go to WDW, we rent a pool home so laundry is "free". We just throw in a load every other day or so. It means less clothes in the suitcase and more room for souvies :goodvibes

I have a tendency to overpack. Knowing we're going to do laundry while we're there, I try not to overpack. The Condo we stay at off property has a washer & dryer in it so we do laundry mid week. We also pre-pack the laundry detergent, fabric softener sheets & stain remover so as not to have to buy it there. We also take a few clothes pins just in case we need them.

when you have a room with a washer and dryer, just put the clothes in at night. It really feels good to come home with clean clothes and you really can pack less because you are washing.

We did one load of laundry for the first time on our last trip, Sept. 2006. We planned on doing it at the laundry building, while swimming in the pool. We stayed at POP. Unfortunately, it started raining as we were walking so the pools closed down. We did the load anyway. It costs (I think) $2 to wash and $2 to dry. The rain let up about 1/2 way through our load. So we just sat by the Hippy Dippy pool while by DD danced around, waiting for the pool to open.

As I said, this was the only time we've done it in about 10 trips. I do bring detergent, just in case, and I'll continue to do so. In the summer I usually pack enough(or too much) clothes anyway, since tank tops and shorts don't take much room and my DD7 clothes are so small I can get them all in 1 suitcase with room leftover. Of course, it would be ideal if you stayed somewhere with your own W&D. Then I would defininetly pack light. Also, less clothes to do when you get home. Now when we get home I just dump all the clothes, dirty or not, on the floor of the laundry room and start the loads.

We do laundry oin vacation, but we stay in a DVC unit that has the laundry right in the room, so it's not a big deal.

If I were driving and staying in a regular hotel room, I'd just pack enough clothes to last my family through my entire trip.

One cool thing I saw once while waiting for the valet guy to bring our car up was folks who had just arrived, driving their own car. They did all their packing in those Rubbermaid containers...the sort of medium-ish sized ones. They had a minivan, so they had them stacked in the back, and there were 4 of the containers and the bellman just plopped them on the cart and off they went. It seemed to me to be a great way to pack if you were driving to WDW.

I always do laundry during our trips. It actually works out very well. i don't have to pack as much and we always take breaks mid-day. I do wash while the kids and DH are taking a nap (I'm not a napper) or while they are swimming.
