Recieved an email regarding the latest and greatest new member incentive.

"When you purchase a minimum real estate interest in a select Disney Vacation Club Resort before March 28, 2009, receive a complimentary Disney vacation* getaway plus a $1,000 Disney Gift Card that you can use during your trip. Just imagine the vacation opportunities ahead of you with hundreds of Member Getaways to choose from. "


The getaway is listed as 5 nights in a one bedroom property, so SSR.

Is this just a new member incentive or does it say its available for add-ons? Just wondering if I may be eligible as I have not signed my papers yet!

One other question, is the price/pt $112 ? The current promo is $112 with a $5 credit and $300 visa. For 160 pts, the $5 credit is $800, and throw in the $300 visa and that's $1100 vs the $1000 visa with this deal.

Just talked to my guide, he said that in order to get the 5 nights in the 1 bedroom, you have to purchase 220 points.

At 160, it is only 3 nights. I didn't ask about the GC since that many points is WAY To rich for me right now (only adding on with 115).

I am not sure what you are referring to about the $300 GC. I just received matching DP's and the $5.00/ppt point discount.

The only thing he did seem to indicate is that the stay was not necessarily tied to SSR.

The big issue I see is the $1,000 to be used "during" your vacation. I never spend that much money LOL! (Maybe if I was buying APs?) So if you have to use it during the stay.... WHAT? Now if it's like the gift card they gave last year that you could use whenever not a bad deal.

Sorry I can't myself provide anymore details, however it looks like other members are pitching in. The emails are usually vague in nature in hopes that prospective buyer will call their guide and give them an opportunity to sell over the phone.

The SSR portion was ad lib, just based on previous DPs and the likely hood of booking anywhere other than SSR due to availability.

I guess it's sad commentary on our spending, but we usually spend 1000 while at the world...on what I'm still not sure

Went to Doorway to Dreams this weekend and the guide offered us $112/pt for 160 min, with a $5 discount so net $107/pt. In addition you had the choice of matching SSR DPs expiring end Sep, a 3 night (i think it was 3 nights) cruise, or a RCI week to be used in the next 18 months. In addition, there was a $300 prepaid gift card.

Might only be offered at Doorway to Dreams since no one else seems to have heard about it. The incentives they were offering were for a minimum of 160 pts, I don't know if that is limited to new members or if existing members would be able to get that too if they added on.

Wow that offer isn't even as good as developer points. We were able to get a total of 12 nights out of our developer points in a mix of studios and GVs(plus we 18 left over). I have to say that I loved the offer that I received with my add-on last year - matching DP points, '08 points, $500 gc plus $8 per point credit!

agreed with pp! we got DPs for our 160 points plus 1000 off the purchase price. we got 13 nights out of our DPs two trips April and Sept/Oct

It seems like people are mentioning both a $5 discount per point as well as a $300 gift card. I don't care whether it's for down payment or a gift card, $300 is $300! Anybody know if this is only for new members, or can be used for add-ons? Will be be able to get it on March 26 for VGC? Will we have to go to DWTD in person to get it?

Are there multiple incentives going around??? This is what my guide gave me back in Feb....

This is the New Incentive as of 2/1/09 and....
... "requires" an existing member referral given to your guide to get the perk of a cruise...

Initial purchases...minimum of 160 points.
The developer points incentives for BLT/AKV have been replaced with a free cruise on Disney Cruise Line with blackout dates:

Existing members:
Add on 100 pts: a 3 night cruise for 4 (buy 160 for newbies)
Add on 125 pts: a 4 night cruise for 4 (buy 200 for newbies)
Add on 200 pts: a 7 night cruise for 4 (buy 270 for newbies)

BLT new members...
BLT = $112 - $5 incentive = $107
Equal # of points that can be used only at SSR, DL or RCI (can't be banked and expire after Oct 2009)
Dues start @ your unit's occupancy date (9/1/09)
BLT points can't be used until Sept 2009

BLT member add-on
add-on 100 or more points, get matching developer points, and the $5 off per point ($107/pt)

AKV new member....
AKV = $112 - $6.25 incentive = $105.75
Equal # of points that can be used only at SSR or RCI (can't be banked and expire after 12 months)

AKV points can't be used until May 2009

AKV member add-on
add-on less than 50 points, pay $112 per point
add-on at least 50 points, get the $6.25 off per point

There are often additional goodies given at the non-WDW locations: Doorway to Dreams near Chicago, and Disneyland. If you buy in person at DL at the moment, I think you get 2 annual passes to either WDW or DL. I know that people who bought at the big February event at DWTD also got tickets to Mary Poppins, which I think some people were able to give up for cash, $200 or so. I'm wondering if the $300 people are mentioning is something like that, at just DWTD. I go to Chicago for holidays and to visit family, so I can get there if it's worth my time.

I got the deal of the century IMHO! Glad I bought when I did! We got a 1br @ SSR for our trip in May/June along with reward airline tickets, our 12 night trip cost us exactly ZERO (not counting food and incidentals) which at the most will be $1000. LOVIN IT!
