My booking window opened today and I was able to schedule a reservation at Palo for 8:30pm. I'm worried that I won't be able to hold out that long for dinner. What has your experience been having dinner this late? Is there a chance to move the time up once we're on board?

You can go to where the Palo dining changes are being handled once onboard (where/when will be noted in the Navigator you get in the terminal) and ask to change. We late dinner seating on a couple of cruises (dinner seating every night at 8:00). We found having a little (bigger?) snack in the late afternoon held us over.

Thank you!

Since you're concerned about eating they late, I'm assuming you have early dining times in the mdr? I'm an early water & when I've gone to palo late, I actually go to my table at the mdr. We like to still spend the time with our teens & then we get a little appetizer to tide us over. Just an option. Have fun!

Thank you! What a great recommendation. We can totally snack at our regular dinner time with my son. I feel much less stressed now

I was wondering about this myself. I'm traveling in a group of 7 and only 3 of us have a reservation to dine at Palo at 7p one of the nights, while the other 4 will still be dining in the main dining rotation at 5:45p. Could the 3 of us still join the others at 5:45p in the main dining room just to socialize until we need to leave for our 7p Palo reservation? I read somewhere that if you have reservations at Palo, they don't expect you at the main dining restaurant. So does that mean that they will seat the rest of our group at a smaller table that evening and there wouldn't be seats for us to hang out with them?

Plenty of places (Deck 11 fast food area) to have a snack to tide you over until dinner.

Enjoy Palo.

We have done this every cruise. I assure you that they do not let anyone else sit at your table in the MDR. We always would eat dinner with our son - well, he would eat. We would have a small appetizer and chat. Then he would run off to his next activity and we would go to Palo or Remy for our reservation. Sometimes, if he wasn't very hungry or in a hurry, he would eat fast food or room service instead. There is no explanation necessary if you decide not to go to the MDR. Early dining is perfect for this kind of situation. Drop in, have a snack, say hello to your servers, meet up with other members of your party, and then skedaddle!

Exactly! We have always loved our servers, and if we have a late adult dining time we always stop by in the MDR for the early seating time just to say hello and get maybe coffee and a salad. Since we won't be eating our full dinner for a couple of hours, it's an elegant break.

As an alternative, food is everywhere all the time. Have some room service in mid-afternoon, eat something from the counter service food locations, grab some snacks in the coffee shop.

Although you can certainly go to the reservations desk when you board to see if you can change your time (and I bet you probably can), maybe this is an opportunity to have a different dining experience...for example, snacks mid afternoon, go to the early show, then have a very relaxing and intimate dinner at Palo. Give the servers there a chance to shine in pampering you. Get to know them, they all have a wonderful story.

We have ALWAYS had 8:00-8:30 reservations. We eat with our family (not too much) then head for Palo

No, your table is always your table. Just let them know that, although you will be going to Palo's, that you want to come to the MDR and you may have a snack or appetizer but not a full meal. If you normally eat early, I would suggest just a salad or soup or a small appetizer. Just enough to keep you going but not enough to fill you up so that you can still enjoy all that Palo's has to offer.
